Bocchi na Bokura no Rennai Jijou is a nice little gem.

Sure, it's predictable. You can foresee how it would have ended from the synopsis alone but does that really matter?

It's the process of how Bocchi no Bokura came to that conclusion which makes this manga shine. It did not really do anything radical or unbelievable (no aliens, superpowers or over-the-top drama here), it just worked within it's constraints (characters and setting) to craft a very sweet ordinary love story.

What really helped Bocchi na Bokura is that it starred two non-abrasive protagonists, Hajime and Chitose. They were very believable characters. Chitose wasn't cast as some blank-dere ... character, she was a normal girl. Same with Hajime, he was a normal boy. And in the context of Bocchi na Bokura, they were a very snug fit.

If you're looking for a good, innocent love story, give Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou a try.

Okay.. This manga is not the best. At all. But there is one thing that this manga does absolutely right. That is character relationship development in romance. It does it in the most basic way but that is not a bad thing. What I meant by that A WHOLE FUCKING LOT of romance in media generally don't even have the slightest development between characters. This however does it in the most textbook way possible and could be an example of how to do character developments right.

Let's talk about other stuff first.

STORY AND WHAT-NOT :

Okay, the premise is quiet unique. There aren't really any anime and ... manga that revolves around this type of thing. At least i don't think there is.... Is there? I don't fuckin' know BUT WHAT I DO KNOW, is that it is unique to me. I haven't really read anything that revolves around a classroom with all of the students already got a romantic partner. BUT THAT'S NOT THE PREMISE HERE, AL RIGHT?

The premise is that there is a dude who basically never had a girlfriend and is the only one left that is in the classroom that doesn't have a romantic partner and you all go "GEEZ WHAT A FUCKING FAG" and all that sort BUT WAIT!!.. There is a transfer student (of course there is. What school life manga nowadays doesn't have at least one transfer student?) So this girl don't have a boyfriend either and you all expect them to get together and shit, right? NOOo!!.. THEY DON'T JUST DO THAT OKAY?? What am I doing here describing the whole story, I'm not a story teller, I'm here to review that shit. So let's review that story and what-not.

So, the main story itself is good, but not anything special. It's not like it is the second fucking Koe no Katachi or anything. It is the same level as Kawaisou or something like that. The side stories like how this one girl is an otaku and when they discovered it they just accept it is kinda generic. There are other mangas that does the same thing but it doesn't really hurt the story or anything like that. The thing that hurt the manga is the way they respond to her. From what I remembered, the way they responded was REALLY fucking cheesy and that is one of the biggest flaw..... That's about it really to comment about it in terms of story........... Let's talk about the art.

The art is also good but not anything special. It is like the normal art you get on your normal generic doujinshi....... That's about it to talk about that too. Now let's talk about the characters.

The characters are where this manga really shine. All of the character are lovable and like I said before, develops properly and really well. The characters are also unique and stuff like that y'know? I have no idea how to explain the characters very well unless I read it through again but I really can't be bothered honestly. So, .... Let's talk about the character development.


Okay here is what the manga did right. They did the development really really well to the point where it could be a reference to other writers on how to do character development right. Since it is really short, it tries to make the development the best it could on such a short amount of pages and chapters. What I meant by that is that nowadays, people keep dragging the romance and the characters ended up not developing at all. Something like Nisekoi. The story keeps dragging on and on and on and ONANDONANDONDANDONDANDOAAMNDONDANDOANDANDODENAODNA UNTIL IT ALREADY BEATING A MUSH OF MEAT THAT IS USED TO BE A DEAD FUCKING HORSE.. The common knowledge that writers are suppose to have when making character develop is this: Hate each other -> starting to like each other -> like each other -> date. What Nisekoi and other drawn out series is doing is: hate each other -> nothing happened -> the girl becomes a huge tsundere -> (Insert 200+ chapters of filler here) -> END. THAT IS NOT HOW CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT SUPPOSE TO WORK!!


That's about all I have to say about this manga........... Bye I rate 10 10- ign go buy it NEXT YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAR

What? It's already over?! If i recall, i just started to read this manga a couple hours, and it's over?

Of course, it just 14 chapter long, and that's what made me kinda disappointed. The premise is suprisingly interesting at first: a single boy that already left behind by all of his classmates at finding their boyfriend/girlfriend, and when he began to feel down, a cute transfer student came.

Yes, they both will fell in love each other in the ... middle of the story, but since the story is kinda short, the progress of their relationship was looked too fast and the girl's feeling was kinda forced to love him. If the story was continued to make it longer, i think the story would be more enjoyable. That's why i gave 8 for the story.

That's for the flaw part, in my opinion. For the other things, i gave them 9. I like this manga's art, it's beautiful. Then the characters were awesome, well-suited for its great art (especially the heroine, i think i love her hehe :D ). The characters' personalities were also good enough for short story. I absolutely enjoy reading this manga (since i want to see the heroine has more screen)

Overall, (almost) 9 out of 10, i would recommend you to read it if you like well-looking heroine and light-romance story. Trust me, your two-hours of time reading this won't be wasted.

Came on here to check for any reviews, and it turns out there wasn't any! What a shame! Why do I feel this is a shame? Because this manga deserves atleast one.

This is my first review on here so you're just gonna have to excuse the quality.

Story:
Assuming you've read the summary:
The story is about Hajime and Chitose! This story is not an original one, it's nothing you haven't seen before. The story mainly focuses on the relationship between these two characters and how it progresses.

Art:
I dont really know much about art, but my personal opinion is that the art is decent, at ... the very least you wont need to suffer through it.

Characters:
The characters aren't really original or anything, but I have to point out it is nice not having to deal with stereotypical tsunderes! And the interaction between Hajime and Chitose is what makes it an interesting and in my opinion worthwhile manga to read.

Enjoyment:
This is the strong point of this manga, in my opinion, it is a very enjoyable manga to read, without too much drama, and so far a lot of progress in just 9 chapters, without it feeling forced. Looking forward to new chapters!

Overall 8/10 (Wanted to give it 9 but that would being way too biased!)
If you're in doubt, just read the first two chapters and give it a shot! If you don't like it then, it's probably nothing for you.

"Just f*ck already"

That's it. That's literally the plot. An entire class who yells those same words at the protagonists for 14 chapters until they finally give up and ends up together.

I mean, the art is actually good, and the main characters in just 14 chapters have some kind of developement. But the whole concept of "You HAVE to end up together otherwise you're a loner/loser" is just sad and pretty terryfing too. Like this is an Abe propaganda to convice the japanese Otakus that they must find a girl or else they'll be alone and useless.

So, in short, in the span of a ... summer everyone in a random class of highschool has got a boyfriend/girlfriend (and for the japanese standard that's as irrealistic as a chocolate rain or something) but one guy, who immediately gets yelled as a loner ecc. But obviously there's a cute girl who transfer in their class that same day, and she's single. So, from this point on the plot is literally the whole class that keep telling these two "Just go out already. I mean, there's only you two that are still single in the class so you have to, or we'll just call you loner", since every sentence from the boy's classmates has that word in it. That's...dreadful, seriously. I'm not against the concept of love and going out of course, but how can you possibly enjoy a love story where the two protagonist are forced together by every other character, parents included? Imagine that you're stuck in a sealed room with a girl you've never seen before, and then every friend/parent/classmate you know from the outside tells you "You have to end up with that girl, or we'll keep mocking you for the rest of your life". Wow, such romance, very heartwarming.

I can't give this nightmare more than 2/10, a point over 1 just for the nice art.

i dont know on others why the story is interesting, reading the 1st chapter i start to drop this, why? i like seinen genre, but this one is not, after seeing chapter 1, you can already see what is the ending.

the story is focus on those 2, but every time 1 one of them talks to their classmate i start to annoy cause i know its starting to fight those 2 like cat and dog, and there is another thing, maybe because im a harem type, why there is no third party in there, like another girl or jealous

If you walk into a classroom, you may see a mixture of those in a relationship and those who are "forever alone". It's pretty much impossible for every single person in a large group to be the boyfriend or girlfriend of someone else, but what if someone like that could possibly be the case? In case you're wondering, I found out about this manga while randomly looking up manga from the same magazine as "Gakkou Gurashi"; it looked like a cute, simple romance, so I decided that it couldn't hurt to read it. Thus, I read all 14 chapters in a row, and I must ... say that it met my expectations and maybe even went a tiny bit beyond; it was a cute, simple romance with some awesome character development. It's too bad that it didn't last long enough to possibly get an anime, right?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my review of "Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou", known as "The Circumstances of our Lonely Love" in English.

Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou takes place in a certain class at a certain school after summer vacation has ended; in this particular class, love has filled up so much air that it's almost suffocating. You see, every single student (actually, even the teacher) is in a romantic relationship with a significant other.... well, except for a boy named Hajime Ichijou; as such, he starts to be seen as a loner. Things soon change, however, when a transfer student named Chitose Ninomiya arrives in his class. As she also doesn't have a boyfriend, the class starts to push her and Hajime together, even though they constantly bicker. Thus, a cute story following the developing feelings between the two loners begins....

Since it only has fourteen chapters (which spawned two volumes), not a lot of room is left to develop most of the characters. The couple that this manga focuses on the most is Chitose and Hajime, and it's true that I enjoyed reading as they developed as characters and as their relationship as classmates grows into something more. The short length of this manga works only for them, as it isn't like we have to read 100+ chapters to see them confess to each other; however, the way that the short length doesn't work is that it doesn't leave room to develop other characters that are in relationships. I can't say I hate the story despite that, though; it was a cute story that matched well with, as I should mention, the adorable artwork. It's rather simple, but it's perfect for this manga!

Overall, Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou was an enjoyable manga. I'd recommend it to you if you're looking for a simple romance manga that you can read in its entirety within just a short time. If you're also a loner, don't worry; you and a fellow loner just may find each other one day!

Initially, I would give this series an 8/10. It's simple, and it's clear that it never intended to be more than that. But a simple story by itself will not warrant a 10/10, hence the initial 8/10.

But then we see the main guy, Hajime, and this series goes down to 6. I absolutely hate the character. He has no redeeming traits all throughout. He is just constantly rude. He's smart, but that actually counts against him because of how inconsiderate he is with other people. Granted, he's just a high school boy, but he is a ... severe and unexplainable outlier with the other characters surrounding him who all seem smart as well but considerate. They brand him a loner but he clearly doesn't seem to be since he talks with a lot of his classmates and already has the witty chops to retort. The whole setting just doesn't justify his character being so rude and unlikeable. While a good story will have characters, circumstances, and dialogue to steer the story, the main pair got together ENTIRELY because the mangaka willed it to be.

Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou, is a great manga. Reasons?

Story: When I read the first chapter I thought "I know where this is going," and i was right, and although how it was set up was predictable, that didn't stop it from being an enjoyable ride. The path it took was really fun to read.

Art: The art style is very nice, I like it very much (looks a little funny here and there proportionally wise, but you probably won't notice unless you intentionally look for it.

Characters: The two main characters were fun to watch, their interactions and personality was pretty good. The other classmates ... were kind of just there, but they came into play a few times and weren't really missed when they were in the background.

I enjoyed this manga very much, a great romantic comedy that I would recommend to anybody. I feel like seinen romance have these gems that just shine more than any other romance.

This story is exactly what Nisekoi would be like if Raku and Chitoge were reincarnated. Not only are their names similar, they bicker all the time. But, that's as far as the similarities go.

Story: 9
Very nicely paced. The romance progresses well in this series, at least on the part of the heroine. The story itself is very cute and sweet, and definitely a good pick-me-up after some heavy drama. The only issues I have with this series are: (1) Sometimes, the story advances a little too quickly, so that it feels almost unbelievable. In a way, the author "timeskips" what should be important thought processes ... in the characters' mind in favor of plot advancement, which leads to a slightly unfulfilled feel. (2) The story slows down too much near the end in comparison to how fast it advanced in the beginning, and the MC suddenly...becomes a wuss. It feels rather melodramatic, and I believe that things could have been storyboarded differently to mitigate that.

Art: 9
The characters are distinct for the most part (except maybe in one case, but it's debatable), and the heroines are very adorable. The background matches the characters' and situations' tone and mood. The scenery isn't special, but fits the style of this manga. It's pleasing to the eyes for sure, and feels "modern."

Character: 9
The characters, especially the main duo, have character. They're able to get what needs to be done, done. The side characters are supportive and likable. The characters do show growth, with the exception of the MC who seems to de-mature slightly before maturing again towards the end.

Enjoyment: 9
Definitely enjoyable. Will make you gasp, laugh, go "aww," but maybe not cry. You might feel slightly frustrated at the MC, but it won't be anything compared to the OTHER Ichijou. Would I reread? Maybe. Am I glad I picked it up? Without a doubt.

Overall: 9. Would love to give a 10, but it does leave a slightly unsatisfied feel at the end.

I liked the premise and also the fact that it didn't dwell on character denseness to extend the series or make comedy.

However, the jokes weren't funny to me. Plus there was some preachy text inside which annoyed me a bit. It was a little, no, way too straightforward, to the point that the 2 MCs reactions sounded so damn scripted.

I did not like the art. It was so empty. During the preachy speeches, the text was in text boxes with shades and different polygons as you would see with so many shoujo manga. There was rarely background.

The 2 lovers were bland. Predictable. Epitomes of the ... archetypical rightful timid boy and honest girl.

It has some good parts that make you feel good, but it was bogged down because of the aforementionned annoying factors. Thus, it was a fair romance manga. However, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, unless they wanted an example of a way too predictable Romcom that isn't funny.

Basically, I didn't like this manga because it's unrealness prevented me to enjoy the "chemistry" between the two MCs.

TL;DR: Are you a fan of romance manga without love-octagons? Then give it a try.

I'm honestly conflicted about this manga. First off, the romance between the two main characters is not only the main aspect of the manga, but pretty much the only plot going on in the first place. So, if you are not looking for a pure romance manga, you can stop here.

The art style - which is already hinted on the cover - was quite pleasant. It's your typical cute-looking sweet art. Also, another definite plus for me was that even though the story was pretty short, there was quite some development ... going on between the characters (although, at times a bit TOO fast in my opinion). It really focused on the development of both of their feelings and accepting it. Also, this manga is completely void of the typical clichee dramas, love triangles, parents or friends trying to sabotage you, etc.

However, apart from the development sometimes being too fast, the main thing that bothered me was that the entire build-up aroound their relationship made it seem pretty fake and forced to me. Everybody in his class is in a relationship, and then a new transfer student arrives. So literally, the whole premise is that he is the only one who's still 'available'. On top of that, literally the first time they meet all his classmates are already shipping them. I don't know, the entire story would've just worked without this weird setup around it, it just made it feel forced and gave it a bitter aftertaste.

So, overall a decent romance, no stupid drama, it gave me some chuckles, but the setting it was based on didn't really sit well with me.

The manga is a wonderful written gem hidden gem. Unlike other romcom styled manga it flows more realistic in terms of character development.

The story is a 9/10. The story is good however it could have been paced a bit slower imo however the overall story may be generic and predictable but shows how a relatable protagonist a relationship in a satisfying way.

The art is 8/10. Fairly good but nothing too fancy and over the top however it shouldn't impact the enjoyment of reading it too much despite it being the weakest point.

It pains me that I cannot give a 15/10 only a 10/10 for ... character. Each character has been made with a high degree of thought. They have their own realistic and humanistic motivations and behaviours which aren't romanticised and give a breath of fresh air at least in this genre. On top of clear cut motivations characters sway with mood and emotion like a real person. Overall instead of seeing a character you want to be or a classic self insert you see a unique mass of teenagers in a classroom context acting as teenagers do.

The enjoyment is 10/10. I absolutely enjoyed it and once every couple of months i reread it. The experience can be enjoyed again and is at stellar quality. The only negative my enjoyment is that it's too short and i can't experience enough of it.

Overall 10/10 for the reasons above
