There aren't many manga about acting, but these two can fill the void to what's not there. Kasane and Act-age both involve female protagonists that rise up from the bottom with their outstanding acting skills, and they both are rather dramatic. Kasane has a darker story, with a bit of supernatural in it, and the protagonist acts from her heart, while Act-age is more realistic, about a girl who acts based on her previous experiences in life. Both of them show how the protagonists grow as actors and they show how it is to act in different settings, like in TV, plays, etc.

Similarities: Both have a dark plot with lots of mystery that is slowly uncovered. They both have female characters who are envious of others' appearance and have a strong desire to possess what they don't have through whatever means necessary. Differences: Kasane has more supernatural tones and has a much deeper mystery that the manga explores. The MC in Kasane is driven by desire while the Mitarai-ke, Enjou suru is driven more by revenge.

There's actually a lot of Kasane inspired scene or idea in Your Throne. It was fun to spot them.

Both involve fake appearances that belie the true nature of a person. Both are also very psychological and even quite uncomfortable to read (in a good way).

Mangas about acting, though Oshi no ko has a lot of dancing/singing/idol activities too, whereas Kasane focuses just on acting. In both the protagonists have a dead parent who was a legend in show business with mysteries surrounding them that protagonists unravel slowly. Both feel melodramatic at times. Kasane is more supernatural and darker, whereas Oshi no ko has a lot of lighter and comedic/endearing segments.

Mangas about acting and show biz. Both protagonists face a lot of difficulties and people trying to "take them down" in their attempts at becomming a popular actress. Both are independent, smart and assertive, and have faced a lot of sadness and torment in the past. Skip beats is a comedic shoujo manga with a lot of silly drama and romance, while Kasane is a more serious seinen manga with a lot of silly drama and ...ye no no romance here. Big difference is although both protagonists have real acting talent, Kasane uses the help of supernatural means: a mysterious lipstick that lets her temporarily swap her appearances  read more

Very similar artstyle, likely Shut Hell directly inspired the art in Kasane.

Both have dark themes and delve deep into the motivations and actions of a monster. Tenma's monster does not feel much emotion and engages in a number of killings. The monsters in Kasane, Kasane's mother and Kasane herself feel too much emotion and their strong desire for beauty motivates them to harm others for their own personal gain.

Blah blah beauty standards and makeup, Kosane is really good, and if you like this and the author's other works, I very much recommend Kosane.

Both female protagonists see themselves as being ugly, and are thus antisocial. While Watashi ga Motenai (rest omitted) is much more comedic with her awkwardness; Kasane is much more darker, dealing with a supernatural element that carries the story about bullying, and what it can drive some people to do.

Both feature a girl who was bullied and take revenge, but Fukushuu Kyoushitsu is more relentless and horror. Definitely not for the faint hearted, but it has a similar psychological feel.

Both mangas involve an ugly girl switching faces/bodies with a pretty/popular girl. Sora wo Kakeru Yodaka is told from the perspective of the poplar girl (turned ugly) who desperately tries to find a way to revert her body back to her original, while Kasane is about an ugly girl, who has the finds a way to switch her face with faces she any face she desires. Kasane is a bit darker than Sora wo Kakeru Yodaka, however if you enjoyed one of them, you will most likely enjoy the other as well.

I have found both Elfen Lied and Kasane to be very similar manga. Both of the mc's are seen as a freak of nature due to their deformities, and are both bullied as small children to the point of breaking. Kasane and Lucy each have their own powers, and use them to achieve their revenge. If you like Elfen Lied, you'll like Kasane, and vice versa - they each are beautifully drawn and give the same feel, and are fantasy-tragedy-romance.

Both stories are about a main character who was born with terrifying facial features, and gets treated badly by the world as a result. Deep inside, the main character is a sensitive soul who only wants to make some friends and find a "place to belong".

> Kasane by Daruma Matsuura is loosely based off the Japanese folklore and original novel, this alternative manga called "Kasane" is the manga adaptation of said novel ..
