You might want to include Favela no Mangaka in your Brazil in Manga stack. :)
That is true. I really Kazuo Umezu's works and it's sad that even though Itou Junji himself praises him, people don't even bother to acknowledge him. I really like Itou Junji too, but it just feels like people give him the wrong credit. There are some people i've seen who even think that he was the first horror mangaka.
From all the YouTube videos i've seen, Japanese seems pretty difficult to learn :(
Trust me, anilist is basically just Anitwitter 2.0. Its quite bad and the mods aren't any better there either.
Oh really? Most official reading sites seem to charge right away. No option to read for free past the 1st chapter.
(It's no problem really. We can continue in the DMs because i do not have discord.)
That is very true! It is a good story in and of itself. (Not the best horror story IMO but still good.) I find that once you break away from Itou Junji and experience other horror manga/mangaka, you find mangaka who are actually better at horror.
Yes me too actually. Learning Japanese has become a must since theres so many good manga out there and scan groups sometimes take quite long or just disband altogether.
MAL is definitely better than anilist in many regards (i really dislike how anilist is becoming Twitter 2.0). The only downside for me is the limited selection. Other than that its a really good site.
I also heard that you had to start paying to read manga on Manga Rock even though it was never like that before?
(Scan gossip can be very hit or miss though? Kinda like a lot of discourse going on in the anime community.)
Yeah he did (though i'm not 100% sure if he did the art too or just the story.) I would say its similiar to Tomie in a sense. I feel like it was inspired by it.
Ah, i have a similiar problem. The manga Kabocha Wine was being translated for a while but it seems like the group have given up on it. I also can't find the raws.
Unfortunately MAL doesn't seem to have a few manga i've read so i do atleast update my anilist account for those. But its difficult keeping up with 2 accounts lol.
I was just about to start using Manga Rock actually before it went down. (Good thing i chose not to.)
BTW, i found the manga you recommended, thanks!
That's true. There are quite a few manga i am reading that seem to have been forgotten by the translators which is equal parts annoying and sad.
Lol yeah there's a lot of manga that i am currently reading that i would rather just add when i finish them. I've also read Mushihime by him. I thought that was nice.
True! There doesn't really seem to be much interest lately in making anthology style horror which is sad.
I also quite like older series - but unfortunately not many of those ever get translated.
I am familiar with his works actually. I like them alot. I am currently reading 'Killing Morph' and its entertaining.
Yeah i am really enjoying Boku ga Shinu dake no Hyakumonogatari - its got a lot of things that i like in short horror stories.
Oh no, you can definitely recommend some gory/slasher oriented series please! I am reading quite a few of them, i am just waiting to read them finished before i add them to my list. I quite enjoy them.
Thanks for the rec! I have heard of this mangaka but i have yet to read any of her works so maybe this could be an introduction for me :)
Thanks for this message and FR! Much appreciated :) and don't worry its not an inconvenience at all.
I don't think i've heard of that manga actually, it seems interesting though. I'm willing to read any horror TBH.
Thanks for the rec, if you have any other horror recs please do let me know :) i'm in a horror slump right now.
Hope you have a good rest of your day/night too!
