i remember that moment omfg jessica deadass singing a whole touhou song was wild. i'm so glad i was already familiar with the touhou franchise beforehand so the magic of that moment wasn't lost on me.
also did you know ryukishi and zun once took part in a joint interview. i'd suggest giving it a read if you haven't, it's super interesting and provides alot of insight abt the various intricacies of doujin game design from two pioneers of the industry

while the ps3 artwork for higurashi/umineko is definitely the optimal way to experience both titles, idk there's just something abt ryukishi's og sprites that just appeals to me on some innate base level. they have this sort of weird charm that i can't put into words. i think "ugly-cute" is the best way to describe it. also a little pet theory i have is that ryukishi's skills as a writer was so goated that the powers that be took away his art skills as a means to to nerf him.

i have listened to some of the doujin music circles' stuff actually! huge fan of nearly anything a-one and sound-holic have put out, eurobeat is my absolute jam so i fuck with their work heavy
omg it's genuinely so funny that half the fanbase haven't even touched the games lmfaoo. reminds me of the idolmaster franchise where most ppl are really only in it for the doujin material.

oh i totally get that. when you hyperfixate over a fictional character/show so hard you don't mind shaving hours off your life decking out your profile in honour of them. one quick glance at my page and you'll know i'm all too familiar with that feeling lol. also tysm i'm glad you think my profile looks nice it means all that effort meant something haha

what sparked my interest in the franchise is seeing ppl pointing our how much inspiration umineko (one of my favorite fictional works of all time) borrowed from it. like lambdadelta and bernkastel look like they were straight up lifted from one of the games. even the OST is very ZUN-esque for lack of a better term.
i've already listened to a good deal of the music and i'm loving what i've heard so far. necrofantasia and flowering night are like crack for the eardrums lol. sadly i've never been the best at bullet hell games but every other aspect of the franchise is so innately appealing to me that i'm still willing to power through.
also just curious is it okay to read the manga first and get into the games later?

The gameplay is still not really my cup of tea, which is sad. Characters look solid and I am half interested about the story too... any plans on playing it?

I've seen most of the series not that long ago, but it's been quite a few years since I've seen the film, so I can't get too specific. I much prefer kyoani on the more cinematic side, such as this and Liz and the Bluebird, and I'm not as keen on their series. I like these kind of plot lines a lot where the central character disappears, much like Urusei Yatsura 3 and 4 (unlike the second film, they're not too popular and are hardly mentioned). Wasn't too into the episodic style of the series and less Haruhi in my Haruhi is also kind of a plus for me. XD

I'm kind of not surprised they crammed it all into 24 eps as it might be kind of hard to generate enough interest for a second season, and it might end up unfinished that way. The image itself is quite funny. XD

Yeah, the combo was unbelievable disgusting, it's some trashy Chinese video game tier writing.

It's the result of inculcating their hypersensitivity, i guess XD I've heard of that one, i guess it wasn't edgy though.

The sharp chin gary stu is also not interested in any of the chicks, his character progression is becoming generic manhwa edgelord after getting powers, happens even to NEET otakus in korean stuff. The few people i know in real life that like it are emotionally challenged, including a guy who gave me a 3 week silent treatment cause we fist bumped when drunk and his hand jerked back and hit his own nose, and we have to work in the same room XD same guy likes blue flop too was telling me how on instagram every one is putting down blue flop in reels cause they ruined it with the animation in season 2, otherwise it's peak, guy is also into bashing things and loud music. You get the idea of what it appeals to.

Sadly, yes, the japanese watching these isekai deserve a fallout style mini nuke at their location XD
As for the pompo movie, it's genuinely very awful and ironic and kind of feels preachy. Flat trashy plot and charas, it's a movie about a dude making a generic trashy movie and the insights he gets doing, presented to us teh audience as deep and mature. It's tough to put into words without watching how awful the experience is XD
I might be a bit delayed in picking the haruhi movie since it's been so long since i saw the show and i'll have to skim that first kizumi dono XD
