Both stories contain characters who are half-animal and half-human.

I consider Arcana a more mature version of Anima. There is still the animal-eared people who are outcasted, but Arcana is more of a romance with royalty and a darker plot. Anima is a sweeter story about young(er) teens trying to find a place to belong.

Both stories are in a fantasy setting that follow a group of children and their difficult adventures. "+Anima" is set in a world where children can mysteriously gain animal traits and powers, which causes them to be persecuted by normal humans. The story focuses on Cooro, Husky, Senri, and Nana; who meet others like themselves and search for a place where they can be accepted, feel safe and live happily. "Made in Abyss" is set in a world where a giant abyss is the only place in the world that hasn't been fully charted, and attempting to will likely cost your life. The story focuses on  read more

- both are slice-of-life fantasy adventures involving young children on a journey where they visit various towns/environments (Somali has a more fantastical setting, while +Anima has a more old human civilization like feel - said children are ostracized for who they are in their respective societies, and they usually hide these aspects of themselves to blend in (Somali: being human; +Anima: having +Anima powers) - both stories for the most part feel innocent but there are also dark aspects; themes like discrimination/racism can be present and their worlds can be cruel but feel like they are seen through a child's eyes (ex. Somali's humans, +Anima's character backstories.  read more

Animals are integral to both stories, and they involve humans and their interaction with the world around them.

Same stories with characters who are half-animal and half-human but x-gene is a more r-rated version of anima.

Both manga feature characters that have been the target of society's hate because they have some kind of visible mark on their bodies. Luckily neither of these main characters were completely alone to deal with it in the end. <>+Anima is more light-hearted than Shuumatsu no Laughter, the latter is more serious.

Manga about four protagonists who travel a long journey. Both HxH and +Anima have beings who possess animal-like powers in a world full of fantasy. Both stories focus on themes like friendship -Not to be confused with "Nakama power"- and both are full of adventures. Both manga are balanced with both lighthearted and dark moments.

they both have: human+animal=hybrid

The whole animal concept is the same, only in Plus Anima they are part animal and in Animal Sense the main characters are all human (as far as we know) and can communicate with animals. Both very good series.

+Anima is like Natsume Yuujinchou, but it's about a group of kids in the middle of a war with the kids being fused with animals and being enslaved because of it. It has the same saddness and no real plot.

both show people traveling in a small group of friends in a magical and old-fashioned/ancient world.

Klan It's more focused on action and ecchi story of half-human half-animal individuals that remains mystery for wider society. While +Anima is story of kids with animal powers that seek for they own place in society.

Both have adorable kids in them. CCS and +A also have very child-like story-lines. They are both very enjoyable and well done!

Both of these involve people with some sort of special connection to animals and involve some mystery and fantasy elements.

they both has this similar feel of "calm" story. The main character is around the same age as the character in +anima and Rurou is a half beast just similar to +anima. They are little action in this manga too
