Yo! If you're just passing by, then have a nice day :) I accept all friend requests (howeverrr: don't start going into private territory pls or hoard like 5k "friends"). I'd prefer if you add some text alongside it as reasoning, that's always nice. ^.^ "The more manga you read, the more you'll understand you'll never be able to read everything you want to no matter how hard you try" -Lots of other otaku before me "The more you know, the more you know you don't know" -Aristotle, Ancient Greek philosopher "Full freedom of choosing what to read is extremely satisfying, don't only read mainstream manga, but expand your horizon and read even subjects you don't know you'll enjoy or not, just give it a try and make only conclusions afterwards" -Welcome to my TEDtalk lmao Current mood: Binging the series "From", currently in the 3rd season and it's great! Current gym irl goal: maintaining atm bc wasn't able to get much progress lately Recently listened to: TheFatRat - Upwind -I can randomly decide to start manga no matter how many I'm reading already, -I love diversity and try to give every manga a fair score. -IMO it's better to read a manga to chapter 1/2/3 immediately when you're interested, instead of putting it into your PTR and then lose interest after time passes by. -I mostly write clarification about what I liked and disliked about animanga in my lists, located in the tag column. -I've been avoiding Junji Ito's work and some manga that I've seen the anime of, such as Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Dr. Stone, Kuroko no Basket, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer etc because the former is not really my liking of horror and the latter seven I'm fine with the anime only, I want to read stuff I've not seen yet because that's more entertaining than another double story for hundreds of chapters. (Exceptions are Magi, OPM, Yuukoku no Moriarty, Yakusoku no Neverland...) If you love any of these manga, we might have a good overlap in manga taste: >Golden Kamuy >One Piece >Berserk >Kokou no Hito=The Climber >Toshokan no Daimajutsushi=Magus of the Library >Imawa no Kuni no Alice=Alice in Borderland >Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin=Rainbow: The Criminal Seven of Compound Two, Cell Six >Bastard (manhwa) >Teenage Mercenary (or Mercenary Enrollment) >Lucifer no Migite >Les Misérables Don't be afraid to post a comment if you got questions, it's not as if I'm going to ignore or delete your post. Languages I can at least understand: Dutch/Nederlands: fluent, it is my first language. English: nearly fluent: my go-to language whenever Dutch isn't able to make the conversation keep going. French/Français: I have been surrounded with French since my childhood but even then I still have difficulties talking with native speakers. I can write texts and mails without issues as long as I have time however, so here on MAL it's also fine :) German/Deutsch: I haven't heard a lot of German in my life, however it is probably the closest language there nowadays is (except South-African) to Dutch. I can understand it with enough time to connect the dots minus a few words here and there. I have studied Latin for six years in high school, so I have some notions about Spanish, Portuguese and Italian as many words are derived from the Latin words, but don't ask me to write anything because I'll have to use a translating tool, which isn't always correct. Likes: good storylines good OSTs & OPs things that can make me laugh sincerely badass characters creativity honesty and friendliness Poeta doctus (learn stuff about irl through an author's work) Classical Greek and Latin culture Sciences Dislikes: Toxicity, egocentrism, narcissism Earrape and continuous yelling (exception: Let Me Hear - Parasyte OP) Stories with MCs that are too OP, without good plot, without redeeming factors that end up as a waste of time Stories that progress extremely slow Cringe stuff like Killing Stalking other things idk for now I love classical literature, such as Homer's Odyssey and Iliad, Virgil's Aeneid, Ovid's Metamorphoses, Greek and Roman mythology and movies of derivatives based on parts of that such as Percy Jackson (books and movies). Other movies that I like are The Maze Runner trilogy, The Hunger Games, lots of Marvel movies, Batman: The Dark Knight trilogy, the Harry Potter franchise, some Disney and Pixar movies such as Tangled and Inside Out, Inception, The Matrix franchise, Divergent trilogy, the Cobra Kai series, I am number three... On the forums I'm quasi only active in the Animanga recs and Manga Discussion boards. AD is just so full of bait and crap posts I don't even care anymore like bruh. Feel free to see the stuff I recommend to y'all. I try to only post quality° manga recommendations, and this a few times a week, (°with multiple similarities and some differences, and not just based on a tag or similar MC personality or concept like revenge). Lately I've been trying to put the spotlight onto less known manga. I've stopped doing reviews, since I know myself, I can't explain a full story well enough, it's up to yourself to try it out based on other reviews or recommendations. The only exceptions I make, are when nobody else has reviewed a manga I love (rated 9 or 10). Examples: 1 Second ; Lucifer no Migite (soon) If you love Wo Zhen Bushi Xie Shen Zougou: , then send me a fr because you are awesome!! Manga that I'd give a 9 immediately when I see they've been added to MAL: +Adventures of an Undead who became Paladin +Peerless Dad/Father, Unrivalled +Wo Zhen Bushi Xie Shen Zougou +Second Life of a Gangster ____________________________________________________________________ Anime ratings: 10: Extremely good, every episode was thrilling/fun/worth watching* 9: Masterpiece, most of the time hyped and glad to have watched it * 8: Good/Great, worth watching but sometimes lacking 7: Normal score: mediocre plotline, animation may be lacking a bit (not really taking older anime into account here), sometimes less interesting 6: Plot isn't all that interesting, often just focus on attack scenes, superficial [Sometimes reasons are given in the tag area, but mostly it's because generally it's less good than the 7-rated anime, not because it's a waste of time] 5: Not sure how I feel about these, but it was disappointing in some way <5: Not worth watching** Since I now watch anime adaptations of manga I really like, the balance will naturally be shifted to the upper side of the anime rated spectrum, with quite a bunch of 8s. My manga list is still faithful to my full rating scale. Also the issue with giving more 8s and 9s comes from the several seasons of a single anime, manga don't have multiple entries as much as anime. *NB: Because long running series often have fillers and slower paced parts, the best ones are commonly rated 9/10. It's not fair for me to give them a 10 if there were more than a few slow parts, but still I love them for what they are. Examples of these are One Piece and Hunter x Hunter. **NB: I tend to skip shows rated below 6.50 so that's why the first sifting leads to very few anime scored below 5.: abolished before 2022 Manga ratings: *I try to rate only after reading Ch 3 (except one-shots). If I'm still in doubt, I leave it blank for the moment. *First rating is most commonly 6/7. 8 only after at least 10 Ch. (6 = average, 7 = okay, 8 = very good). Lower than 6 may occur, but that means it's bad from the beginning. *Score might raise by one if there's a continuous supply of great chapters, score might drop by one if there's a continuous supply of boring/awful chapters. The ceiling between 8 and 9, and between 9 and 10 is higher than the ones lower than 8. *Lowest score given atm is 1 = Not only cringe/boring/annoying/terrible/waste of time but also offensive and make me wish I could forget they exist, 2 = nothing redeemable, no decent plot, no comedy, no interesting characters, no creativity, boring and superficial, 3 = terrible, 4 means bad/boring/cringe, 5 means below average but not that bad. *Any manga with 9 or above is a top pick that is a must-read if you've got similar taste as me. 9 = great/well-written/entertaining. *10 is mostly given to manga that have been taking me by surprise many times, tons of hype scenes, and that made me read non-stop (like at least 20/30+ chapters every time) *Since I'm a reader that likes to switch between stories, if I keep on reading the same one, it means a lot. *Dropped manga = forever ditched <> On-Hold = read again later (months-year(s)), as long as they're scored 6 or higher I won't drop them, and as long as manga are scored 8 or above it's got my attention enough not to pause them. So summarized: Reading list: 1-10°; Completed list: 1-10; On-Hold list: 1-7; Dropped list: 1-5 (unrated manga can be everywhere as well.) °I rather don't want to keep reading stuff rated 4 or below so typically my reading list has manga rated 5-10. Currently setting anime aside for (seinen) manga/manhwa, I'll watch anime adaptations of the manga I enjoyed but not anime before a manga. I do read some Shoujo & Josei manga, although at a slower pace and less frequent than Shounen and Seinen manga. Examples are Aqua, Kagen no Tsuki, Niehime to Kemono no Ou, Usotoki Rhetoric, Usemono Yado & Mystery to Iu nakare, Olimpos, Sayonara Sorcier, preferably with another tag like Horror, Mystery or Supernatural instead of solely pure romance. Reading/PTR list that I can't find here on MAL: (TO BE CHANGED later: more than a couple of these were added already) >>> These are listed chronologically, the newly additions are added down below, while the one right under this text is the one I read the longest time ago. All ✅ mean it's listed on my anilist account., also my criteria to drop them are not the same as the ones on here, I drop it if I don't want to continue but the score does not need to be 5 or below. Moved to this blog (11k char): https://myanimelist.net/blog.php?eid=877530 Don't underestimate LNs, 1 chapter can take +- 10 minutes or even 15-20 if you're reading very thoroughly. One Piece, Golden Kamuy, Kingdom, Berserk and Kokou no Hito will be on there semi-permanent. More specifications about some favorite stuff: 1) Fav. episode 2) Best villain/antagonist (IMO) 3) Personal hook (first exciting ep) (Tip: to find out for sure; watch at least [2-3 eps for <25 ep anime][10-20 eps for >200 ep anime]; in general at least 3%) 4) Fav. OP/ED 5) Fav. OST Fav. genres: Shounen, Psychological, Seinen, Sci-Fi, Horror, Mystery, Fantasy, Thriller, Supernatural, Action, Adventure, Comedy Also: stories in which the main character is not a hero (rather antihero), such as Bastard, Death Note, Golden Kamuy, Hataraku Maou-sama!, Onanie Master Kurosawa, Terror Man*, Villain to Kill*, Youjo Senki, Yuukoku no Moriarty. Koroshiya Ichi and Juujika no Rokunin are a separate case, almost everyone's a villain/antagonist. + stories of (slowly) turning inhuman, such as Birdmen, Chainsaw Man, Jagaaaaaan, Kaijuu 8-gou, Kirihito Sanka, Lives, Mosquito War, Parasyte, Shadows of Spawn, Solo Leveling, Terra Formars, Tokyo Ghoul, Zetman (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: partially) + stories with lots of funny misunderstood scenes, such as Maoujo de Oyasumi, Detroit Metal City, Golden Kamuy, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Skill of Lure, Angel Densetsu, Mieruko-chan, Lookism, Mashle + stories about cunning, smart people having psychological fights (1) or solving mysteries/cases (2), such as Liar Game (1), Yuukoku no Moriarty (1), Detective Conan (2), Dr. Frost (2), Loose Senki: Old Boy (1&2), Tomodachi Game (1), Usogui (1), Imawa no Kuni no Alice (1) + smart characters that counsel other people as a butler or a likewise job, such as the Owl in Tokyo Ghoul, MC of I'm really not the evil god's lackey*°, Dr. Frost + wholesome, heartwarming stories, such as Adventures of an undead who became paladin*, Emperor to Issho, Hisakata no Oto °This manhua's name doesn't have any strong connection with the MC yet so don't judge it by its cover/name! Recently (note: December 2022) I found out that I prefer manhwa with actual earthly settings instead of those power fantasy generic copy-paste manhwa. Doctors, surgeons, firefighters, it's all fine by me. The extra irrealistic things don't take away my enjoyment so no probs there. Any manga scored 7 or above is a good rec imo, manga rated 6 might also be fine if you can set your expectations from the start a bit lower. Historical manga sorted by time era (below for European based manga): -Prehistoric era: (40,000-120,000 years ago) [with Neanderthals]: Sousei no Taiga -Macedonia and Greece: (~350-300 BC: 4th century BC): Historie -Roman Empire (50~55AD: 1st century, Italy): Kentou Ankokuden Cestvs, Nero -Plinius and the eruption of the Vesuvius (79: 1st century, Italy): Plinivs -Thermae Romae -Vikings (11th century, Europe): Vinland Saga -Renaissance (1500s: early 16th century, Italy): Arte -French Revolution (1789: 18th century, France): Innocent -Industrial Revolution (1700s-1800s: 19th century): Levius [Sci-Fi] -Cold War (1980s, Germany): Toudoku ni Ita Best (near) endings: (mostly very emotional) *Battle Royale: Ch 106-119 *Akumetsu: Ch 150-162 *Angel Densetsu: Ch 82-84 You might want to read these manga if you watched and liked these movies/series: *The Hunger Games => Battle Royale *Cobra Kai => Hajime no Ippo *Inside Out (Disney) => Yumi's Cells *The Dark Knight (Batman) => Zetman *Deadpool => Deadpool: Samurai *Venom (Marvel) => Igyoujin Oniwakamaru *Daredevil (Netflix series) => Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Just move on and read/watch anything else. *If you gave Killing Stalking anything above 6, is everything okay? [Yeah I didn't want to cut off all small corners as it took me so much time last time I did that. I don't care about those aesthetics anymore.] My Golden Kamuy Collection so far: (€253 spent ~$275) [Got all volumes from 1-27 except V18.] (Other pic coming soon: None) I only buy manga I know I won't regret having spent money on. Manga I'd want to buy someday: Kokou no Hito, Liar Game, Kingdom, The Promised Neverland V1-3, Imawa no Kuni no Alice (I don't need V1 if it costs 20 euros... the later volumes are better), Lucifer no Migite, Akumetsu (if it's in English, I understand a decent amount of French but I'm not fluent) English translated manga vols:
French translated manga vols: (These were so cheap: only €2 a piece but not in pristine conditions. I don't mind though. All 8 vols of Les Misérables were new, normally they cost about 8 euros a volume but with shipping it became €10/vol. I also don't mind, because there is no English version available. Thanks to these I have a nice way of learning more French together with manga I loved that I couldn't get in English :D!! Examples: Bremen, Zetman, Rainbow, Yokokuhan, Megumi no Daigo, Heads & Les Misérables
>> 79 Vols in total as of August 29 2022 >> 97 Vols in total as of Oct 22 2022 >> 106 Vols in total as of Nov 19 2022 19-11-2022: As I'm reading "My Home Hero", I feel the same urge to binge as I did with Waga Na wa Umishi; Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin & Megumi no Daigo. I love it whenever I find such another manga I can excitedly binge on the edge of my seat :D 18-8-2022: Today I passed by a nearby bookstore to look if they maybe had some interesting manga volumes to buy (haven't bought for months until today), and I found TBATE vol 1! That was literally the last one I'd have expected, since it takes a while until manga from America come over to my country. €20 were worth it, glad I didn't buy Solo Leveling for the same price before. I also bought Witch Hat Atelier V9, even though I'm not that far in the manga yet. 06-8-2022: I gained more than 600 chapters here on MAL because I finally found Solo Leveling's and Omniscient Reader's Novel pages. I actually want to complete ORV soon because the ending is so close (rn at 492/512) the ending is somewhere in the 510s, the rest should be epilogues. Edit: Yoo I went from 109 days to 123 days, that's the equivalent of 31 minutes per novel chapter xD. No way it's that much but it is 20+ mins though. Ik right! Can handle fictional gore (not irl) but any anime/manga depicting tragedy of children and weak characters easily makes me burst into tears.
Btw even I stalked ur notes, those unwanted " boob exposures" ones were a bit funny to me and hella relatable;stumbled upon "Wolf Guy's infamous " panels and it made me wanna puke.
Ik it might not be ur taste but even I had ur exact thoughts about "Fate Zero being nothing special",then the part 2 version of it completely subverted my expectations. This reminds me that after exams I gotta watch Arcane s2.Have you seen it?
I finally shifted my entire list using 'mal scraper' on Anilist(my ADHD is something else). Hope ur doing alright!😊
Got spoiled about some key events after Urich decides to go South on reddit:(
Btw I think it's pretty sad that a manhwa of such high quality gets axed whilst all those cringe mainstream power and harem fantasy have >200 chapters(I understand why they're popular).
Dude, I ended up reading 88 chapters in one go it was that insane
Every arc is next level, but the Golden Age Arc? I can’t even put it into words, it’s beyond epic. It’s brutal, beautiful, and hit me in a way I didn’t expect
It’s a masterpiece of storytelling and emotion, so intense that words feel inadequate, it’s like standing on the edge of a brutal world, raw and beautiful in ways that leave you breathless
Whoaa okay I'm really looking forward to that moment. Honestly, even so far there have been some pretty heartwrenching goodbye moments :")
