Sayonara Piano Sonata and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso are hardly any stranger towards the music world. In fact, both series adapts music as a major theme to develop the story and its characters. The main male protagonist from both series is considered a prodigy when it comes to playing the piano. The skills he displayed leaves memorable moments that has influenced the story's past and present. Both series also has romance with bits of drama involving events of the present story.

Shigatsu and Orange builds strong relationships with its characters. In particular, the main MC has a distant personality but their connection with the female character develops gradually as the story progresses. Both series' storytelling are also heavily influenced by the events of the past including the death of a loved one. There is a concrete amount of interpersonal problems that are explored which can be relatable. Recommended especially for anyone interested in a story of drama.

Both are similar because they have instruments. While your lie in april has more drama, blue orchestra has more music. In a sense, I prefer Blue Orchestra. Each chapter is amazing! If your lie in april focused more on the music than the drama, then it would be like Blue Orchestra. Not that the drama in your lie in april was bad, it was amazing in fact. The plot was amazing. I believe the plot of Your Lie in April is more developed than Blue Orchestra, but nonetheless if you like MUSIC, then read BLUE ORCHESTRA!!!!

Both manga are about music and about pianos. They give off similar vibe and some characters are similar - although there are many differences as well. Check them out if you are interested.

Shigatsu and 3-gatsu no Lion are coming ages series that really gives an insight on our characters' role in their story as they experience youth. Both series' main male protagonist are prodigies in a particular field. Throughout the story, we see their skill and the rivals that they compete against. Both series has a lot of characterization as we learn the characters' motivations and struggles. Their past (involving a dead family member) continues to haunt them although the experiences they develop with other characters slowly brings them out of their shell.

Both of these stories follow the relationship between socially awkward boy and a terminally ill girl.

Both main characters are piano prodigy's that hit a roadblock in there career. The two main characters were forced to become a piano prodigy by there parents and have to practice constantly--in Moon Hye Rin's case in excess of 10 hours a day. These manga are seinen/shounen but could easily be seen as josie/shoujo based on the artwork. Either way, they can be enjoyed by anyone, male or female.

Both protagonists stopped playing piano due to an accident. The romance and drama that happens in both titles bear similarities, meaning there will be "feels".

Both are amazing pieces of work and a good read with the MC getting a lot of character development and finding himself again after a lot of mental and physical struggles!

This is my first recommendation so if i make a mistake please excuse me ^^. When i read Shigatsu wa kimi no uso it reminded me a lot of kagen no tsuki. Both manga will make you laugh and cry and feel really strange like life is so unfair but at the same time so beautiful.I really cant put the right words for what i felt when i read these two.Maybe because they were so realistic i felt emptiness and unfairness. In Shigatsu there is a 'lie' and in Kagen there is a 'secret' lets say.Music is similar in both manga. Also some quotes or pages will make  read more

Mysterious girl approached the MC because he's good in some particular field. The girl push the MC to continue play music/painting. Both MCs have the same personalities and similar circumtances. They were pressured by their parents. As story progress the relationship between the characters gradually progress and their past will be uncovered.

It's interesting to see how similar yet how different they are. Their true similarity lies in the order they do a specific thing, but that's a spoiler, so I won't go into that. These are still similar in that they're somber and bittersweet love stories. Whereas Shigatsu primarily deals with a one-sided love, Magi no Okurimono illustrates the development of a relationship and the grief that comes with death.

both main character have similiar problem, they love art but can't keep it up for some reason (KimiUso: Arima Kousei - Piano/Classical Music | Canvas 2: Kamikura Hiroki - Paint). then their work make people to learn an art (KimiUso: Takeshi Aiza & Emi Igawa | Canvas 2: Housen Elis). and last, female protagonist support the main character to get back the way they did (art) before (KimiUso: Miyazono Kawori | Canvas2 : Housen Elis).

Both maturely and sensibly deal with potentially romantic scenarios between two lost individuals of different age groups. Its an incredibly hard thing to pull off, something title's like Bunny Drop got right at the beginning but fail near the end. Both Slice of Life pieces which are enjoyable to read, and never feel out of place even with its central theme.

Same type of story about a boy finding meaning in their life while being supported by a quirky girl. Same ending as well.

Under the sakura blossoms, the main characters met their fated ones who would greatly affect their lives; however, little did they know... Sayonara, Hero is a shorter tale, while Your Lie in April is a more complete drama.

Young clasical musicians work on their music and perhaps even their relationship with each other. Both show a situation of parent pushing their child into competiveness.

shigatsu wa kimi no uso is similar to nisekoi because of its romantic comedy.except for the fact that shigatsu wa kimi no uso is a bit more serious than nisekoi. Then again nisekoi is a shonen romance manga so you cant expect it to be to serious. :3

A prominent theme in both series revolves around music. It takes the very essence of music and focuses it directly with the characters as they try to follow a dream. Both series adapts drama with stories revolving the daily lives of the main characters. There is romance present in both series. Do take note that Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru takes romance in a more mature style while Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is more innocent. Both series also creates an environment where there's competition not with interpersonal but also the professional/talent lives of the main characters.

Taking place in a school life setting, both series' main female protagonist shares a skill with their talent in music. The main premise of both series main be different but they follow some similar trends such as drama and character relationships. There is also subtle romance that develops between the main characters although portrayed in different fashion. One of the more dynamic aspects of both series is their dialogues with hidden messages and meanings told from its story.

Nana and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Kuso focuses on music and a journey to fulfill a dream. There's a great degree of realism present in both series including their perspective story and characters. Nana has a more mature setting with its characters though when it comes to relationships while Shigatsu deals with interpersonal struggles. Both series has characters dealing with their past as well. As music is a prominent theme in both series, expect the main characters to face obstacles like never before whether it'd be competition, their own personal struggles, or relationship with others.

I can't help but think of the Bungaku Shoujo Series when reading Shigatsu and vice versa. They have similar male and female protagonists. The boys share somewhat similar past: are considered a genius in a certain art form, tragic happened force them to disappear from public eyes, meet a girl that inspires them... Even the girls share similar personality: have a great love for the art form that the protagonist is famous for, is the males' main motivation, the catalyst for every actions the protagonists take...

Music is the catalyst and focal point here. Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is a manga set in Japan while Westwood Vibrato is a webtoon manhwa set in South Africa, however, while the stories and plots differ, music and other themes are in common. They each have characters with an illness or disability as well and some tragedies and darkness that both main characters have been through and music is key for getting them through that. Technically the demographics that they are published in are different, but since music transcends those differences, these stories do as well and  read more

The main male protagonist has an talent involving music. And through an encounter with a girl, they find a new meaning in their life. Although neither series shares the same aspect of competition, both series focuses on a main male protagonist who begins to find his way in life. The premise of both series has a fated scenario where the main character's life drastically changes as result of certain events. Throughout their story, we see the talent of the main male protagonist as they display their skills in front of the world. For Shigatsu, it involves piano playing while Ballroom e Youkoso deals with dancing.

Coming of age stories about relationships, hardships and most importantly music. While the stories themself are different, one thing stays same - even though it's just a comic you can hear the music and feel the atmosphere and energy behind it as it's portrayed in such well-executed and realistic way.
