The leading characters in each manga have a very similar dynamic in terms of how they interact with each other.

Both series are about the lives and relationships of young women. Both are created by Ai Yazawa.

They both revolve around the world of modeling. Paradise kiss is more dramatic and realistic, while The One is really hilarious..it's really hard to stop laughing. But still in both mangas the main chars have a unique personality and they're really something to enjoy.

Both stories start with girls very focused on their studies, and then, meet some strange and bizarre group.

It's also manga by brilliant Ai Yazawa. She was making these two comics at the same time. They have diffrent plot but same characters and atmosphere . Paradise Kiss is more realistic but both are telling us about true feeling between people.

annarasumanara's magician reminds me of george from paradise kiss - both manga are about people who create real magic through their creations - both have beautiful female leads who don't realize they're beatiful until george/the magician show them they're beautiful - both have wonderful art...

More soap opera-esque, but has the same enjoyable characters, strong girl protagonist and romantic ditherings that made ParaKiss so good. A lot of cute clothes in this one, too.

They both have to deal with an modeling career. Also they both have a romance with relationship challenges to deal with.
reportRecommended by rueful
Both of them deal with fashion. Kuragehime is funnier than ParaKiss though.
reportRecommended by Kiiroi
Both are stories revolving around fashion design and how hard one must work just to attain a tiny fraction of success in the world of fashion. Both have a strong-willed female character protagonist, and an aspiring designer male protagonist.

Both Paradise Kiss and Act-Age involve a girl main character becoming familiar with an industry that they originally have little knowledge or interest in. Paradise Kiss is a completed story which shows the fashion industry and modeling industry in an, albeit glorified way, while focusing more on the inner-personal drama between individuals in the story. If you have read any of Ai Yazawa's works, Paradise Kiss shares some similarities in storytelling. That being said, Paradise Kiss excels in the same way that Act-Age did, creating an interesting story out of an industry that I personally had no interest in, or knowledge of, prior to reading  read more

Both series feature a female protagonist who models for an artist and, over time, grow affectionate toward that artist and the place in which the art is done. Mind you in ParaKiss she's a model for clothing whereas in Birdcage Manor it's modeling for paintings. Both protagonists have a sense of independence and rebelliousness at that high school age. A character in ParaKiss is transgender and in Birdcage Manor there's a part-time crossdressing character featured. Neither protagonist really fits into a super common trope for characters. They're realistic and I wouldn't think it odd to see either in real life. This is in contrast to the plethora  read more

Both series are about odd-ball creative types making their art - in Paradise Kiss it is fashion and in Spirit Fingers it is drawing. Both groups names are the titles of their series too! In both series the characters are passionate about their craft and seeing that inspires the MC and opens up a whole new world. MC in both series also has to deal with their mother's academic expectations and downright abuse for failing to be the daughter they want while placing their younger, "genius" sons on a pedestal.

In both the female lead turns to modelling. However, the difference is that in FG, the girl had already modeled before as a child while in PK the girl had never modeled before. Both come to realization of how important modeling is to them and chooses to enter the industry. PK has a more realistic approach while FG is lighter. Regardless, both are good reads.

Both titles are shoujo/romance manga that features a love forbidden by the families of the protagonists.
reportRecommended by hubertpivert
Both manga are about finding new people and meeting new friends in a different environment and finding a first love. What I found similar was the emphasis on all the "firsts" and the outcome versus the expectation. I loved both (enough to give them tens) and I would strongly recommend them.

Trying to save a business, nerd/outcast vibe, both are really funny with good humour.

Lonely and unpopular girl learns to befriend flamboyant gays, and fashion nerds. It's very funny and is actually really emotional because it shows her journey of trying to escape from her family's harsh expectations of her.
reportRecommended by momochi22
Both share socially distant and arrogant mcs being friends with people that are the polar opposites to each other as well as a strong sense of fashion between characters.
reportRecommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Both are spicy josei reads with a tough as nails female lead and lots of nice to look at art and character designs too.

Both are about girls who have had a hard time at school trying to make lives better for themselves.

If you've loved Paradise Kiss, then you might loved as well "Koukou Debut." These two mangas are similar in terms that fashion is present in the story. While Yukari was kidnapped and engaged in becoming a model, Haruna's problem is that she never gave time to fashion resulting to no-love-life since middle school. But he then encounter Yoh that coaches him to become attractive and find herself a boyfriend. Similar to how George help Yukari become glamorous.

Amost same character stereotypes, where paradise kiss has more serious relationship issues and personal lessons. If you liked this you'll LOVE paradise kiss.

Similar fashion, plain and shy girl with a group of outstanding and beautiful people

Both are about an average high school girl, set in her ways and bored with her everyday life, suddenly motivated by an older man of ambiguous moral inclination to pursue a career in something she ends up having a knack for. One is photography, the other modelling, so there's a fair bit of overlap in character roles as well, and the way the romantic angle is worked in each is quite similar.
reportRecommended by lithiumflower
Both series have a normal high school girl who suddenly finds herself swept up in learning about fashion after a chance encounter and pursues the affection of a young man immersed in the newly discovered world whose own feelings and intentions are not always so easy to discern.

Similar art styles. The genres are very very different, so double-check the summaries first just in case.
reportRecommended by Numi
Both plots center around a domineering yet insecure female in the world of fashion. The art styles are quite similar too.
reportRecommended by afroemo
Both are dramatic and confused romantic stories that revolve around the modeling and fashion world.

If you want a shorter and slightly less dramatic filled plot than Para Kiss, Lovenista would be good. In Lovenista there is still love triangles, make-up artists, and a girl with a great complexion. However instead of an overbearing playboy, there is a gang-leader who works as a host and dreams of being a make-up artist.

Each of these series takes a realistic look at the complex people and relationships in our world. Especially remarkable is their respectable and likable portrayals of transgendered characters: Isabella in Paradise Kiss, and most of the cast of Hourou Musuko.

Both the main heroines are discovered by guys they later fall for and they both enter the entertainment industry.
reportRecommended by TrulyAJ
Though these mangas look like they have nothing in common i think they do have similar genres involving the main characters growth and finding their own paths and both artworks are unique in their own rite. I loved reading Paradise kiss because it isnt a typical shoujo manga and really pulls you in with the character development and that the same with the other side of the mirror.

They both contain the same art style and have a similar atmosphere throughout the story. In addition, the female protagonists are both immersed in a new-found world that transforms them into a confident fashionista. In the end they both search for some sort of love in there new life. Even though Paradise Kiss is about fashion while MANA is about a ghosts they both have similar qualities.
