Both series feature a female protagonist who models for an artist and, over time, grow affectionate toward that artist and the place in which the art is done. Mind you in ParaKiss she's a model for clothing whereas in Birdcage Manor it's modeling for paintings.
Both protagonists have a sense of independence and rebelliousness at that high school age.
A character in ParaKiss is transgender and in Birdcage Manor there's a part-time crossdressing character featured.
