Story takes place in Japan right after a disaster of catastrophic proportions has happened.

Both Dragon Head & Distant Sky are extremely dark. Both have a very lonely feeling. Both include 2 Male & Female characters trapped in a dark place. Dragon Head is in a tunnel whereas Distant Sky is in a city. Both characters try to survive and find a way out while coming across disturbing obstacles . Dragon Head is a little darker and a bit more disturbing than distant sky but there both great and well worth the read.

After a catastrophe happens, the civilization goes bye bye and the characters are left to fend for themselves.

Collapse of a large city, characters have to survive on their own.

Dragon Head was in its element when, following an earthquake, three people found themselves trapped underground after their train derailed, surrounded by corpses. Where as DH's characters don't stay underground for more than a few volumes, Metro Survive's tale of survival starts and finishes with its character underground. The two are different, as a result, but to begin with the feelings of claustrophobia and panic expressed make it easy to link the titles. (FYI, DH goes to shit after its early earthquake/train drama.)

Both of these manga explore dark, madness and the fear of unknown.

Both mangas are placed in a apocalyptic Japan where the main characters have to survive with other who are left fend for themselves. I am a hero differs mainly from taking true psychological turn on how to tell it's story while Dragon head is more or less cliche inferior form of the genre.

Both deal with survival, finding the truth and what really happened to their world.

A manga about a boy and a girl's trip through an post-apocalyptic Japan. Both mangas feature death themes and lots of violence. Even so, while Dragon Head tells a story about survivance in an hostile world and how this kind of situation can push people over the edge, Heavenly Delusion is an adventure full of mysteries with a stream of questions and answers in each volume. Give it a shot if you want to read something with similar vibes. Spanish: Un manga sobre el viaje de un chico y una chica a través de un Japón postapocalíptico. Ambos mangas presentan temas relacionados con la muerte y mucha violencia. Aun así,  read more

Both series excel at presenting the depths of human nature when pushed to its limits, as well as portraying 'evil' through the comics medium. Devilman is more chaotic, whereas Dragon Head presents a comparatively more 'natural' evil, that is no less frightening.

The series are similar both in terms of plot and artistic choices. Both series take place in post-apocalyptic Japan and both involve doomsday cults and mysterious military and scientific conspiracies. In terms of style, in both the character design is very realistic: the characters have obvious asian traits and look like ordinary people, without that stereotypical anime style. There's a lot os scenery porn in both mangas, with pages and more pages of city ruins and skyscrapers. For both authors, the setting is an essential part of the narrative. Besides that, there are some differences. While in Akira you have that kind of shonen protagonist who  read more

If you liked the survival aspect of Dragon Head/Blue Heaven, you should give this other psychological horror story a try.

Both are creepy and fall into the semihorror genre. Uzumaki is a bit stronger then what I've seen so far in Dragon Head though.

Small group of people, survivors (in one way or another) band together or fight againts others as unexpected events caused them to have to revert to much more rural and basic living on survival mode.

Both of these manga are very similar they involve in Real life crisis scenario where they need to find a way out of trying to survive until someone recused them

Both Manga involves surviving but Psyren is on the Fantasy side while Dragon Head mostly involved in Real Life scenario

They both have major catastrophe that takes place during school trip. In both manga you'll find elements of survival, mad people, violence and amazing ending. Enjoy!

The stories are similar because they talk about disasters that may come to happen someday. (or not)

Survival Horror, lots of uncertainty and fear, probably supernatural elements but it's a mystery in both series. Similar vibes of trying to scavenge in abandoned places
