Hello. I came across your profile through your nice stacks. I have already a hugh plan to read list for all these old and mostly unknow work (and most of them will never get a translation) but it's always a plessure to meet other people with the same love for older manga.
Enjoy reading Scientia. It's a nice collection of sci-fi stories with a cool artstyle.

P.S. Why does it seem that quite a lot of manhwa has English names alongside Korean (at least on MAL, but I see it on covers too)? I don't see that in manga all that often

Interesting to know that manga grew so rapidly in such a short amount of time. Are there any print manhwa classics that are available in English and are worth checking out, btw? MAL ratings and popularity don't seem to be very useful in that regard - I've read a few works that I really liked (mostly from D&Q publisher) but virtually nobody else on MAL has read them, webtoons seem to be dominating indeed.

Well that's impressive! You're lucky in that regard, I guess :D Lots of stuff I wish I could read. How does the manga scene in Korea compare to manhwa and webtoons? It seems to me that manga surpassed "local" comic traditions in Europe and US, but I wonder if that's true of Korea, given the uneasy legacy of Japan here.

Well that's obvious, but some markets are *really* good in terms of older and niche stuff, especially French, Spanish (e.g. for Hiroshi Hirata) and Italian (for Kazuo Kamimura). English doesn't even come close. For Korean, I frankly don't know

Hi there, saw that you read Mizuki Shigeru's Watashi no Hibi, did you get the Japanese original or was it published in some other language?

Yeah, if I were to guess it's prolly due to the fact that Shirobako has overshined it, so if people are to watch one anime about anime production, they'll most likely stick to the more popular one. Still, girlish number is definitely a very good example of an original anime made well. Luckily we're getting more and more great original productions so there's a lot to pick from.

i am tempted to start with dororo 1969, bc i loved the manga right up until the abrupt ending. that's the era of tezuka's work that i love the most.

it's too bad that tezuka's artwork goes underappreciated!!! his character designs are so appealing, and his backgrounds etc are so often simply stunning. i'm kinda just fangirling at this point, sorry lol

Well yeah, although I have to admit that my reasons for having her in my favourites are mainly personal/emotional. She has basically carried the entire series on her back though, and she's definitely one of my favourite comedy leads in anime, and it's sad that this series is so underrated.
