Story - I didn't know what to expect originally. I've read most of the Higurashi mangas and I've read Elfen Lied (and seen both the animes). I didn't think that anything I read would be much worse than these two... How naiive of me... When I started reading this I was alone in my room, in the dark and I had to sit downstairs in the company of others to finish reading it. I almost expect to see the lolita standing outside my door right now...
Anyway, the story was very well done with a couple of interesting twist. Creepy too!

It amused me to see that the tags for this manga are "horror, run bitch runnnnnnn!, holy shit, seinen, horror, ryou haruka, and like really. :o"
That being out of my system, lets get to business! (I'll try to make a short one this time :p) Overall (9/10) The story is good. The art suits the story. The character STAYS in character (especially the creepy lolita girl). The enjoyment? If you mean did it scare the crap outta me? Then yes, yes, it did. Story (10/10) It's unpredictable, which is a good thing in this kind of story. You expect that this thing will happen as a result of this ... Jan 8, 2014
In short, utterly terrible. A thankfully short, z-grade foray into old and tired horror movie cliches that almost look laughably bad with the shonen style art. I would say I really enjoy horror and thriller themed seinen stuff, but more in the vein of episodic, large, almost adventurous tales: bio-meat, cage of eden, kamisama no iutoori and higanjima are all great example of horror seinen done right for me (to varying degrees.) With Ibitsu, all I got was a blah little serial killer story full of dumb plot holes and a twist that I saw coming miles away. The way they kill off characters is

Ibitsu has been one of the rare horror manga that, in my opinion, managed to effectively capture that "dark" atmosphere that helps the reader to fully enjoy the story. Very good for reading at night alone with the lights out!
Story - 8/10 "Ibitsu" is about a young college student named Kazuki who meets a lolita-like woman one night while he is taking out the trash. The lolita woman asks him, "Do you have a younger sister?". Kazuki instinctively answers that he does, and runs home surprised, trying not to think much of it. It turns out that this lolita is part of ... Oct 15, 2015
This manga had amazing praise online but I was very disappointed! Ibitsu is flat, boring, and frankly goofy.
STORY: 2 I play a lot of 8bit freeware horror games. They're short, terrifying, and unique. This was...not. Ibitsu reads like a poorly executed attempt to cram as many horror tropes into one series as possible. We've got yandere lolitas, online urban legends , a decrepit insane asylum, dead animals in food, and a healthy dose of vague incestuous implications in classic "Onii-chan, mess me up!" fashion. The premise of the story is absurd, and not in a scary or troubling way. There are also a ridiculous amount of ... Nov 21, 2016
Story:
Hated the first chapter, thought the third was pretty provocative, enjoyed the manga as a whole. It's not a very complex narrative and certain things happen just to be spooky but a few other scenes are actually quite petrifying. The whole thing feels like a classic slasher film where the villain is mysterious and far more than anyone in the narrative can expect. I only had some issues with exploitation. Now, granted, I'm a fan of horror so I've seen my fair share of gore exploitation where things are done far more than needed for the sake of exciting the audience. To me, I don't enjoy ... "Ibitsu" is fairly popular, and worth checking out for scares-starved horror fans, but I'm not really much of a fan. After blowing through a lot of (so-called) "horror" series that aren't focused on actually being scary it was nice to read something that is actually trying to generate a fearful response. However I found that it gets undermined by the fact that the plot is fairly predictable. As it's a very short manga (as it would have to be) it doesn't really leave a whole lot of options for narrative outcomes. As such, I knew where everything was going more or less from the outset.

Ibitsu is not great, but It's not the worst horror mangaka I've ever read either. To me, it's pretty average. Let's talk about the plot, because I still don't understand what they were going for:
PLOT: (It's been a while [as in 2 years] since I read this, so give me a break with the names and details, I'm sure someone has a more accurate plot review than I do) Our protagonist spots the literal embodiment of Satan under an umbrella and walks right over to her (Nice instincts bud). She tells him that she will be his little sister or ELSE, essentially, and he's spooked out. Eventually, ... Jul 25, 2011
A fun read at midnight and your parents are asleep and then they hear you scream "Holy shit bitch gonna get killed!!!!"
The story was awesome. The turn of events were expected but the mangaka depicted it in a more horrific way than you could imagine. I got scared enough to make me have nightmares about it. The gore, the everyday lifestyle of the characters, the twistedness and the cliff hanger ending. All of them put in order made one outstanding and freaky read. Betcha most of the thoughts running through you head while you read this are: "run bitch runnn!!" "freakshow gonna get you!!" "bitch slap that mother fucker!" and "bitch ... Jul 25, 2011
I Have found this manga while looking through the horror genre , it was about a Lolita girl and that wasn't really my thing so i was kind of reluctant to read it but i must say i was the least bit disappointed .
Story : it is about this strange girl who encounter's a boy and asks him a simple question ( Do you need a little sister ? ) and it all depends on what the boy answers , the story reveals it self from there , The story is all horror , it one of those good creepy plots that give you goosebumps ... Ibitsu is one of the rare exceptions in manga where the genre of horror means something. It creates a dark atmosphere that lures the reader in.
Story: 7 One cannot expect much in terms of story for any horror manga. As such, many questions were unexplained. Despite this, the mysteries created assisted in making Ibitsu true to its genre. Art: 6 The art style did not fit the manga well for the most part. Characters other than the main villain looked more suitable to feature in a shounen manga. Character: 8 The main character portrayed realistic emotions and feelings given those circumstances. The villain was about as twisted and evil ... Dec 29, 2010
Overall it was a pretty enjoyable read, I found myself sucked right in from the very start. I've always loved horror mangas and if you are like me then this is a great manga to read. Lots of twists and mysteries, as well as a lot of unanswered questions. Though I did find this to be very predictable in parts but then the author did manage to recaptured my interest in the end with the unexpected twist. I suggest reading this at night while your sister is dressed in goth clothing ;)

In my personal opinion, the book is trash. In general, you should avoid books glorifying odd fetishes presented in Ibitsu. It literally serves no purpose to have it in the novel. I agree with many people on here who have stated that the book has many plot holes, and the side stories make no sense. If you want an actually good book that includes horror/odd imagery, read anything from Junji Ito's collection of books, or if you're looking for an ACTUAL good horror book that takes place in a school I recommend Seeds of Anxiety. The characters in the book have zero personality and seem

i dont regret reading this per say, its just my life would be arguably better if i didnt stumble across this. first and most obvious; ibitsu tries its hardest to gross you out with nasty stuff, i noticed someone described it as a "glorification of fetishes" and to be real that is pretty accurate. its just gross and weird and serves zero purpose. the big evil force in this "story" (not even a story to be real its more a gore and bodily fluid fetish work comparable to the daily life of mai-chan) is some trashy, dirty, hobo cosplayer lolita girl. does she have

This was a good manga it different aspects. But I found this manga to be really, really disturbing. Its a good horror manga, but if your not into gory, bloody, murders and such, then do NOT read this. I found it hard to get off my mind since like I said it had disturbing images.

There are very few manga which actually scared me and Ibitsu is one of them....... I mean most of the time horror manga are more disgusting due to it's gore rather than scary
Story(9/10) - It was the most positive side of this manga. Though some things are not explained properly but that does not mean it has plot-holes, this only increases the horror in the ... Aug 25, 2013
When I started reading Ibitsu I wasn't excited about it..I was thinking it was just another cliche and predictable horror story about a girl that became psychotic as a result of a tough life...I even considered dropping it after reading about 5 chapters but I didn't and I never regretted that. After finishing I can say that it is definitely worth reading
Story : 8 The story might seem predictable at first but I can guarantee you that there are some really unexpected twists in the final chapters..Overall it was interesting and with a lot of disturbing and gory scenes..There is also a couple of side stories ... Dec 27, 2015
Do you like horror? Well, if you're searching for a horror manga, this could be a great choice. Japanese horror movies are known in the West for being pretty scary and spooky, so, with that reputation, you are probably waiting for something that it'll make you scream until your lungs can't held more air, and shiver until your neighboors thought it was an earthquacke.
Okay, Ibitsu tell a story that could be perfectly an urban legend in contemporary Japan. Urban legends has that strange appeal. You know they are fake, but then you can help think: what if this happen to me? The mangaka play with ... Jun 23, 2014
Being a huge fan of horror manga this one had me hooked from the first chapter. The story starts out the main lead, Kazuki taking out his trash when he spots a woman in a lolita getup sitting in the garbage. She asks "Do you have a sister" to which he responds. Bad mistake. He realizes that his answer may have just cost him his life.
Story: The story is a roller coaster from the first chapter, consisting of unpredictable situations and gripping events from chapter to chapter. Art: Definitely a superb highlight of the manga. Every character and gore scenes were detailed perfectly, capturing ... |
