This is probably one of if not the most interesting manhwa with the villainess/reincarnation theme that I've read. The pace is just right to keep the reader hooked and the author really knows how to build up suspense. My only real complaint would be that the ending of the series seemed a little rushed, and it would have been more beneficial for the author to focus on a fully developed ending rather than adding so many bonus chapters in the epilogue. That's the only reason why I won't give it a perfect 10/10.

From what I saw from other review sites and also from just general reviews, this series had absolutely glowing reception. It may have made me expect more from this series than there actually was but I found the series to be annoyingly repetitive.
These sort of manhwas focus on one central hook and explore or iterate on it as much as possible. For The Villainess Turns the Hourglass, the series focuses on the MC basically beating a child into the pavement for a large portion of it. There are things to praise like how she really isn't that good of a person, she truly is a ...

This series is just an attempted replica of a far superior one: villains are destined to die. The concept for the plot is not original at all and the schemes in the story are not intelligent or clever either. The characters are mediocre and far less interesting to the ones in the other series. Mielle, the main antagonist, was made to be as evil as possible just for the sake of the main character's revenge. The actual revenge at the end is pretty sick and appalling as well. Read only if you're interested in revenge porn. This story is no better than something like shield

▶Summary and recommendation: ----------------------------------------------------------------- [The Villainess turns the hourglass] was my first Otome Isekai, and I am now writing my review after finishing my second read. It is a great introduction to the genre, but it does not excel in many areas. It is a power fantasy / revenge story, and if you can find it in you to root for the protagonist (who is most certainly not a saint themselves) you will find both very satisfying. I usually recommend this to people trying to get into Otome Isekai, but it is far from the best ...

I recommend this purely cuz of the main character. She was brilliant, she planned everything out so well, she was smart, kept learning, developing herself in many ways. She didn't rely on others, she built her own power and knew how to use it. I loved her so much. The guy she is going to fall in love with was also great, although not as much as her.
Visually beautiful, side characters were ok, could use more development of their past. The plot was nice and its development as well. The main antagonist was really stupid and annoying, I know we should hate her, but ... |
