I don't usually go for thrillers but man, I can't empathize how good this was.

There aren't a lot of works out there that cover mental illness in a way that's both intriguing and respectful. We get to see in detail why Yoseob is the way he is, and how the decisions and actions (or inactions) of others inhibits and changes him. However, he's not completely demonized as many characters who suffer from similar conditions are in other series. The story also touches on the butterfly effect as a major theme as well, which was one of my favorite aspects of the story.

I appreciate that ... we get to see all of the main 4 characters backstories too. It allows us to connect with them and see why they're making the choices they have and to empathize with them on deeper levels as they have all suffered their own traumas. Overall, they're all pretty fleshed out characters that are easy to become attached to and invested in.

Even if thriller isn't usually your go to, I highly recommend giving this a shot. Just keep in mind there are scenes that include intense child abuse, and somewhat graphic violence against humans and an animal. Each of the chapters that include such scenes are prefaced with a warning, but I like to warn people in advance just in case. I'm somewhat sensitive to gore and was able to get through the series just fine with the warnings.

This is by far one of my favorite historical Manhwa that I've read. I genuinely don't understand anyone who's read this and says it's boring. It has suspense, romance, action and wonderful messages about found family, adoption and allowing others to love you. It should be mentioned that there's severe child abuse and violence towards children mentioned and shown in the series, so if you're very sensitive to that subject matter, this story may not be for you. The abuse shown isn't *super* graphic, but definitely read at your own discretion.

In my opinion, the FL and pretty much all the characters are well written ... and fleshed out. The villians in the series are incredibly well written and they definitely keep the story interesting and the stakes high. I also love how the FL was able to pursue a romance in the series without taking away from the main plotline at all, and I appreciated how different types of love (familial vs friendly vs romantic) were explored in the series, and not put against each other. The author does an amazing job of allowing us to see why different types of love are equally important and how they work together to enrich FL's life.

Literally the only thing I think I would change is showing a little more of the FL's powers and her growing more comfortable using them/learning how to use them. However, the story is wonderful as it is. I genuinely can't recommend it enough, especially if you're already a fan of the historical genre and love a good revenge/ suspenseful story.

This is probably one of if not the most interesting manhwa with the villainess/reincarnation theme that I've read. The pace is just right to keep the reader hooked and the author really knows how to build up suspense. My only real complaint would be that the ending of the series seemed a little rushed, and it would have been more beneficial for the author to focus on a fully developed ending rather than adding so many bonus chapters in the epilogue. That's the only reason why I won't give it a perfect 10/10.

The main character, while being labeled as a villainess, is easy to cheer ... for, and I found myself invested in her success while reading to the point where I was a little stressed at the points in the story where her plans have a chance to fall apart. No matter what she did, I always cheered her on. I think the fact that she has plenty of redeeming qualities, but doesn't lose her desire for revenge really sold her character for me. She's a very well written main character.

The male lead wasn't as interesting to me, but there are plenty of aspects to him that would be appealing to other readers. Personally, I was very entertained by the side characters (the main character's maids) and the true villain of the series. The true Villain is extremely well written and so easy to cheer against. This is another aspect of the story that really allows the reader to sympathize with and cheer for the mc.

Overall, I highly recommend giving this a try esp if you enjoy the reincarnation/villainess troupe. Even if you're not fond of that troupe, if you're into a great revenge tale, you would probably enjoy this as well.
