Yumi's Cells is an interesting series that uses its unique premise to constantly get into the characters thoughts and actions. The series has a standout artstyle that blends well with its character writing and comedy. The series has a ton of charm put into it but I would ultimately say its hard to get through.

While the series can be very strong, it does have a glaring issue and thats with the length of the story. At over 500 chapters, you get to experience Yumi's many relationship troubles and journey that ultimately makes you think "wow that was a waste of 100 chapters" after they break ... it off. The story could be written considerably stronger if it didn't feel the need to be as long as possible, which hurt my investment overall as I lost interest in her relationships. While going through relationships is very real for many of us, its not nearly as enjoyable to read about over the course of hundreds of chapters.

From what I saw from other review sites and also from just general reviews, this series had absolutely glowing reception. It may have made me expect more from this series than there actually was but I found the series to be annoyingly repetitive.

These sort of manhwas focus on one central hook and explore or iterate on it as much as possible. For The Villainess Turns the Hourglass, the series focuses on the MC basically beating a child into the pavement for a large portion of it. There are things to praise like how she really isn't that good of a person, she truly is a ... villainess which is refreshing in this genre. Her personality makes her a natural schemer and always looking for ways to manipulate the situation and people around her, the MC is very true to how she is. However her constant winning over someone thats basically a kid is satisfying to see for a bit given who that kid is but is not enough to go on for as long as it does. A revenge story like this is made to be a satisfying slow burn wish fulfillment but I do not believe it should have dragged its feet on that same concept for as long as it did.

Romantic Killer is an interesting show because I feel like its designed to piss you off and then still pull you in feeling satisfied anyways. The animation is very fun all throughout, showing a wide range of expressive movement and fluid character acting.

The show is set up in a way where its super light hearted and funny but you feel an extreme amount of guilt and rage for the situations the characters have to be put through. That is until the last half of the show, which is crafted to re-contextualize the narrative and in a way change your perspective about the situation. The show ... actually made me retroactively like the entire cast and the previous episodes too, which is insane because I really was angry watching most of the show before this I'd say.

I would give the show high recommendations for doing such a great job in bringing the whole story together by the end. I would find it hard to recommend since the show will purposely frustrate you and for a lot of people why would you watch something that makes you annoyed for a good portion of it but I think it is still worth the watch.

O Maidens in your Savage Season I think is a hard show to describe, I don't think it is bad but I did not find it that enjoyable of a watch. If I had to describe the show in a sentence, it captures a lot of the messy and hypocritical feelings when exploring the topic of romance and sex but it is also frustrating and bloated.

Every character in the series contradicts themselves quite a bit, but I don't think that is a bad thing at all, I think it does capture how insanely unsure the characters are at this point in their lives. They say ... a lot of things they would probably regret, are unsure of how to describe their feelings and ultimately find it hard to even openly discuss their turbulent emotions. This adds a nice amount of realism to their emotions but it is frustrating to watch as a viewer, its easy to see a more rational way for things to play out so your first thought goes to "I just wish they would talk these things out proper instead of fighting behind each others backs."

Besides frustrating, I also described it as bloated. I think the show tries to do too much in its 12 episode cycle and leads to one character getting pushed aside (it gets really obvious when watching the series which one it is). I would say all the maidens have compelling stories to follow, some are more warm exploration of their emotions and others are uncomfortable looks at the experiences the maidens put themselves through to satisfy their curiosities. In its 12 episodes, everyone has their own journey to explore their different interest in sex and romance.

I always find shows that openly explore sexuality in youth really interesting cause it can capture a lot of different emotions and also explore those new feelings. Even if I think this show could have a tighter focus, it tackles a daunting task of looking at many different types of feelings teenagers can have when talking about sex.

Lets see, I would call this series kind of wasted potential but with a lot to like.

From the start of the story, you are given a tale thats about turning around societal status and with your own means, carving out a path you want. However, this story is told entirely in a 70 chapter single competition and that leads to the pacing feeling very tiresome. The format of the story is the biggest issue I have with it, the competition aspect is how the story is presented and paced but the most potential would be how things are handled after the competition is over. It ... is unfair to judge a story by what it doesn't do but just looking at what is there, the whole thing felt slow and anti climactic by the end.

There is also a ton to enjoy, the protagonist is super charming in the sense that they are so earnestly genuine and no nonsense about what they do that it is really lovable. Their design stands out from a lot of other royalty manhwa stories by giving them more of a rough tomboy edge, which is more refreshing than you would think since a lot of these stories focus on giving the protagonist a true "princess" look. The main female supporting lead is easily the best character in the story by being extremely headstrong throughout the story also. Other supporting characters are likable in their own ways but did not leave as strong of an impression compared to the main MC and main FL.

My enjoyment of this series felt really surprising. Its filled with a ton of clichés and some very typical gross anime behavior like straight up incest. However, a lot of that gets quickly dropped for a very awesome character driven story. The story has a ton of awesome action beats that really pulled me in as they explored how characters choose to handle fights.

The MC I would say I enjoyed seeing them fight the most, a lot of fantasy MCs do have something overpowered about them but for Ikki, he more so tries to utilize his own strengths and maximizes his opponent's weaknesses if possible. ... You could say he is an overpowered character but in the context of the story it is more so that he is a clever and strong fighter because he needs to be.

The latter half of the series gets some extremely strong direction work, especially the last 2 episodes utilizing a nice use of colors. My biggest gripe is the start of the series feeling so uninspired and just generally overly fan servicing compared to later on.

Honestly I am shocked how much a series with a fun character dynamic can take such a quick nose dive in quality.

Spoilers but the last handful of episodes basically introduces a stalker problem that gets resolved in a terrible way. Theres a big message of being able to appreciate your fans because they have your best interest at heart but that doesn't really work when that appreciation ends up malicious. The whole situation does get resolved but not without any damage... that gets heavily sweeped under the rug. The main character who was the most heavily affected by the situation's outcome seemingly doesn't feel very ... bitter at all towards what happened and the stalker themselves never say they feel bad for the MC but instead for hurting the idol group. The MC also gets physically hurt by the stalker as well among other things and somehow the viewers are meant to not completely despise this character that gets off extremely easily.

TLDR, a fun little series with some really nice character dynamics that ended on a poor execution.

I have not written any reviews for any of the previous seasons cause I think the story content and overall execution was fine but for this particular part 2 of the season, its really bad. Ignoring the fact that this is basically another season for an ongoing series, the actual content explored in the story is not worth a 12 episode season.

Spoilers ahead but compared to so many other shows out there, who enjoys a season that amounts to 6 episodes of pure debating and then followed by some one sided action with no in universe tension. It is cathartic to see one sided fights ... but that only works when there is tension to go along with it. What make it so satisfying is seeing someone get their just desserts that deserves it and that does happen here but its the only thing that happens this season. The last half of the season is someone slowly getting their asses handed to them for 6 episodes.

I have to say this season has been overall uneventful and could have chosen to tighten up the pacing and focus on potentially more interesting content instead of dedicating so much time to slowly exploring the clayman plotline.

I am surprised there aren't any lower review scores for the manga because I personally feel it is insanely flawed. Its a story that I heavily enjoyed that turned into something I found extremely boring.

This is a story that I am sad to say just gets less interesting overtime. It starts off insanely strong and the anime does a really good job covering basically a really good 30 chapter progression. With a nice premise and a strong core cast, it would be really REALLY interesting if we just threw that away for the rest of the series.

Spoiler alert. Yeah shortly after where season 2 of ... the anime ends, the cast is split basically in half as the permanent status quo change for the rest of the series so far. 120+ chapters of what is basically a less interesting version of what we had going on.
There is meant to be a big long separation of the whole cast but it does not feel pleasant at all to read.

Going through the manga for a long time has felt like a big drag as it just has not hit the same strong dynamics set up near the start of the series.

17 Chapters in so far and all I have to say is wow this manga is ridiculously well paced. The way their relationship develops with multiple small steps feels like big developments because for them it is something big. There are a ton of small gestures overtime that make all their interactions feel like major steps in their relationship. So far, the relationship has developed at what feels like a comfortable pace, they don't drag their feet too much on what they want but there is clear hesitation because the feeling is new for them.

The art as well really sells how they view eachother, anytime ... you see the characters, you can see that is how the characters are actually seeing eachother. The way it focuses in on them makes it feels like they only have clear eyes for them. This manga is just a really well paced love at first sight story that shows a really nice blossoming relationship.
