The author is more preoccupied about making them look gorgeous and handsome in every damn panel than giving them actual personalities or character. Is sad since this mangaka made hironaka no ryuusei, my favorite shojo manga. Also even tho her style now is more bishi than ever it seems less unique, her previous style was more recognizable. I found myself cringing almost in every chapter, the MC is plain and boring, she indeed, has only her good looks and almost nothing else. Same with the boyfriend, he's always making faces like trying to hard to look edgy all the time. So tired of this basic ... plot about a super super super unreachable guy who's a fuckboy that magically falls in love with the most unique and pure girl in the whole existence. Overall is plain and boring, everything is so half-assed (and "wannabe") except for the art aspect.

A few chapters in.. and I'm not really sure how to think.


But I love the androgynous look on female lead! It’s so cute too. But I feel like the author keeps on using “prince” too much, like it’s an actual official title for a person. Why does FL care if she’s getting with another “prince”? And the male lead seems sketchy too. If I were her, I would’ve seen him as a pervert. Who even the hell even says that? “I saw your appeal as a girl so I like you”. The-

Yeah. Nope.. But whatever. Let's see how this turns out. Right now what ... I'm getting from this manga is just the word "model". They could be literal MODELS because they looks so pretty. Damn. Wish I looked like that.

I'm only 4 chapters deep but wow, Yamamori Mika strikes again. I'm a big fan of her other works, Hirunaka no Ryuusei and Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet, and so far Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki seems to measure up.

Our MC Is a boy-ish girl nicknamed "Prince" for her pretty face and mannerisms, paired with a rich playboy type. The characters on paper fit pretty generic tropes but the author does a great job of playing on the archetypes in a refreshing, realistic take. The female lead, Yoi, is very likable in my opinion (she looks like a dude but is cute and feminine, and not ... in an exaggerated way) while the male lead, Ichimura, is incredibly competent for a guy in a shoujo. He's straightforward and honest while still maintaining a sense of mysterious charm. As a couple, I think they complement each other well and storytelling style makes it realistic even if the plot is not.

As always, Yamamori Mika's art is beautiful and unique. The facial expressions are always spot on and every panel is truly a treat. I especially liked Yoi's character design, and I felt like the balance between her femininity and masculinity was really spot on.

As a whole, I think Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki had a really promising start for a shoujo. I've been looking for more titles since Tsubaki-chou finished and while the opening for this work didn't hit me in the feels as hard as Tsubaki-chou, it was definitely a refreshing, pleasant read. Honestly, to me it almost has the feeling of a one-shot about side characters in the middle of a more popular serialized shoujo, which I really love.

Swimming through the shouja manga genre is indeed an adventure, especially when it comes to picking up good quality. How to define good quality in this manga?
[STORY]: The female lead, seen mostly as a beautiful "prince" (recurrent motif) is seen for the first time as a "woman" by another popular "prince". There seems to be this duality between the prince-like behavior of being a sensible, protector of the women, and the other prince that is somehow of an untouchable, charistmatic prince.
[CHARACTERS]:
Prince(ss) Yoi - has a sophisticated air, gentle with her peers and sometimes could be called a true "gentlewoman". As the ... story develops, she loses these skills and becomes more shy and insecure little girl - is that what it means to be become a woman for some people? (well not). It was however refreshing to see a FL that is not an annoying brat, without friends or some poor bird struck by fate. At this point in the manga, Yoi can be called at-most a struggling teenager transitioning from prince --> princess.
Prince Kohaku - the generic rich playboy, with a trio friend group, having a long-list dating history, but no depth to "why has he never fallen in love?". Well he did with the prince(ss). The dynamic between the two is somewhat cute, a normal love-story probably reproduced in 100s of shoujos. If there was something I wished for, is to have more scenes of him acting like a happy teenager enjoying life of a highschool student, instead of a 16 years old boy that tasted life fully at his age (which is never the case in reality or prince-like stories).
[CONCLUSION]: Nonethless, the manga was truly beautiful, the drawings stunning which was the main reason I started it. If I had to describe it in one sentence it would be "teenagers struck by beauty-at-first-sight".

Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki is the type of manga that u read while kicking ur feet with a huge smile across your lips.
Let me start with the exceptional art that is absolutely gorgeous and a straight 10/10. They both look so pretty and handsome I have the biggest crush on both of them!
Their characters are also incredibly cute and their genuine feelings can be felt through the screen. I love the concept that she was more boyish at the beginning but discovers a whole new side to herself while her relationship with Ichimura grows. Ichmura’s progress is also adorable from short and not genuine ... relationships to feeling hopelessly in love with Yoi to a level that sometimes leaves him questioning his impulsive decisions.
The pace is in my eyes perfect! It doesn’t feel rushed but at the same time it isn’t painfully slow! It may not be the most unique story you will find but I promise you this manga still deserve ATLEAST 10 out of 10 points. JUST READ IT!!!<3

yet another great story by Yamamori sensei...

The story is somewhat your typical school romance shoujo but done not from the typical shoujo mc. Takiguchi, Yoi is a boyish-looking girl that is often mistaken for a handsome man receiving her nickname prince, through her shoujo hero behavior yet having a feminine and cute side that is not often seen by the characters surrounding her. Ichimura, Kohaku is your everyday shoujo hero that is seen in other stories, a rich pretty boy that is surrounded by people trying to get close to him because of the money, however, do not let the shoujo trope take away from ... the character, he is refreshing to see. Like is to be expected like most of her other works, there is a love triangle.

The story is still pretty early so I'm looking forward for more chapters.


Yamamori sensei art style and the character design are outstanding for the type of story honestly. the characters feel their age yet a little unrealistic when they all look like models lol.

Cuando comencé a leer Uruwashi no estaba segura si me estaba gustando, no me sentía "enamorada" del personaje masculino principal como en sus anteriores trabajos, y la verdad no se como me siento con respecto a la personalidad de Yoi... todo esto pensaba en los primeros 4 caps, porque ahora, aunque sigue sin causarme gran impacto el MC, estoy enamorada de la dinámica que esta empezando a haber entre la pareja principal. No puedo esperar mas para los próximos capítulos <3

En cuanto al arte, Yamamori sensei nunca decepciona con los diseños ... de personajes, tanto en sus facciones (siempre son todos guarismos) como en su vestimenta (no puedo creer los uniformes femeninos, pero están muy bonitos y diferentes), y también me gusta como sitúa a sus personaje en un contexto super actual. lo único que encuentro regular son los fondos, ya que en esta ocasión no están tan dibujados como en Tsubaki chou, pero a mi esto en lo personal no me importa mucho.

Strong start. Grabbed my attention from the start of chapter 1 to the end of chapter 4. Easy a 9/10 from me. A handsome female lead? An attractive forward male love interest? Count me in. Anddddd that’s it. Since volume 2, this manga has been spiralling down hill. The whole "I'm nervous" shit is overdone with Yoi. Yes. I know this type of inner dialogue is prevalent in Shoujo, but there’s such thing as too much. It hinders any real conversation flow between the two characters. I’m not expecting their relationship to be smooth sailing, there’s no fun in that. However when the FL can’t ... chill the fuck out, it’s tiresome to say the least. So unfortunately, I'm getting bored quick with Yoi when she's not in Prince mode, which is the only time she really shines for me. (and volume 1)

Minor spoilers here. By chapter 10, there’s already a second guy introduced while the two main characters are still pretty much a mess. The pacing is awfully bad. He also looks like Yoi if she were actually born a guy so gotta throw some minuses for the lack of art diversity. Such a shame because the characters are beautiful. I would like to see what else our mangaka Mika has up her sleeve design-wise. Not to mention that throwing in the second dude is so typical and I just expected something different from this manga. My own fault, I guess?

Anyway I still plan on following the story to see how things progress. I’m hoping somehow there’s a turn around. I’m not holding my Breath though. 6.5/10

I love this manga with a passion! I've read five volumes so far and it was an amazing journey. The art is fantastic and the plot is amazing. The FL is shown to be this lonely girl that gets mistaken for a guy while the ML is only popular because of his money. I love how it shows the struggle of knowing if you're in love or not. It's a good book but there are some things that could be better but that's pretty much every book. It definitely is one of my favorite manga's and i hope more comes out later on. :)

This manga did not take long to have a special role in my daily life. As I see it, I have many similarities with Yoi, as well as with her insecurities. I even have the same school uniform as her—the exact same design—so sometimes it really feels like I'm seeing myself on paper. Reading Yoi is always a pleasure, I love to see her do all kinds of things. I find myself more confident with my physical traits and I find myself want to be more and more like Yoi. I'm so grateful to have such character created and published for someone like me to ... discover and read. I'll do my best from here on.

One of the best shoujo manga with an exceptional herione design. Also, I read a review saying the author was too occupied with making them look handsome to actually give them personalities—I don't think that's true. I think it's the reader who decides those kind of things, no matter how the creator wish their creations to be perceived.

17 Chapters in so far and all I have to say is wow this manga is ridiculously well paced. The way their relationship develops with multiple small steps feels like big developments because for them it is something big. There are a ton of small gestures overtime that make all their interactions feel like major steps in their relationship. So far, the relationship has developed at what feels like a comfortable pace, they don't drag their feet too much on what they want but there is clear hesitation because the feeling is new for them.

The art as well really sells how they view eachother, anytime ... you see the characters, you can see that is how the characters are actually seeing eachother. The way it focuses in on them makes it feels like they only have clear eyes for them. This manga is just a really well paced love at first sight story that shows a really nice blossoming relationship.

Yamamori Mika manages to develop another set of characters that are beautiful to look at, yet maintains their humility and harnesses the shoujo troupe that we look forward to read each chapter. Yamamori art and story is a page turner.

In the Clear Moonlight, we met the MC Yoi Takiguchi who is first year in school that has already attain the title "prince" for how handsome she is by the girls. Yet the guys in her school sees her as boyish. She captures the attention of male lead, Kohaku Ichimura, who is popular yet never felt in love before. We watch her process her feelings of ... being liked and liking him.

With another added element that Yamamori Mika often include in her works, a love triangle is on the way! and that is where I am at. I'm looking forward to see how MC deals with romance and hope to learn more background of the male lead and the dynamic of the new guy.

Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki is easily one of my favorite shoujo manga of all time. If I could describe it as simply as I can, it's the perfect "All-arounder". The art is absolutely fabulous and Ms. Yamamori's art is unbelievably good in every chapter, even by Bishi standards. While the story and characters aren't necessarily the most complex or even relatable, the dynamics between them are truly what makes this manga special. The pacing of the romance between Yoi and Ichimura feels natural and not rushed or too much of a slow burn, while maintaining a consistent progression even into their relationship given Yoi's ... struggles with self worth and gender roles. The side cast, while predictable, are likeable enough that it serves to highlight Yoi and Ichimura's relationship rather than arbitrarily take away valuable development time. I only have two very minor gripes, that being the introduction of a losing second male lead who did very little to improve, challenge, or advance the relationship of the main couple, as well as the overall lack of elaboration on Ichimura's dating history. Although the initial premise of a playboy becoming deeply infatuated upon first glance of a seemingly non feminine girl is interesting, I fear that if Ms. Yamamori is unable to create a satisfying conflict and resolution of Ichimura's backstory then this phenomenal manga might miss out on its potential to be something amazing.

Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki is by no means the most creative, most interesting, or exciting Shoujo story, but it doesn't need to be. It excels in being well rounded, with a likeable cast, gorgeous art, and a sweet and somewhat slowly developing love between the FMC and MC. It goes for more of a "wholesome" approach and angles it as a charming coming of age story for two teenagers trying to navigate their complicated expectations from society and for themselves. There is genuinely nothing particularly outstanding about this manga, and yet it seems to draw me in every chapter, wanting to see Yoi and Ichimura again.

A must try for sure, I strongly recommend to give it until 15 chapters before deciding whether or not continuing is for you.

Unimaginative and terrible combination of tropes, a questionable message, along with an unlikeable ML make this truly one of the manga of all time.

I'm already annoyed at the "girl looks like bishounen so she's admired by all the girls!!!" as is for myriad of reasons. But there's just no depth to this especially given that FL is bothered by this. But she decides to look like a bishounen anyway for reasons that are unexplained, which was a good opportunity to establish that "she can look however she wants and still be female," something guys should be able to recognize even if she's not a traditional ... girly-girl with long hair. Then comes ML, who cups her face and tells her immediately that she is beautiful but then thinks she's a boy again because... she's wearing a tracksuit. Lol ok. So you're bisexual, I get it. And he reaffirms this later on by saying that he'd still be attracted or drawn to her even if she were a guy. Like........ okay? God I hate this trope when it comes to androgynous women, or women who have to crossdress for plot reasons. Especially since this guy has dated girls who were presumably more feminine in the past. Would he have said the same thing to a girl who was traditionally feminine, that he'd still be attracted to her if she were a guy? Yeah no. Nowhere have I seen this ever.

What I'm looking for is guys that see women for what they are, as obviously female, in spite of the limits of drawing cartoon characters (that often render them conveniently androgynous) or whatever gender stereotypes and expectations they might adhere to. I want "I'm going to be physically attracted to you because you're a woman, but I would love and care for you regardless of gender." And if they're going to do the "bisexual ML, attracted to MC regardless of gender" thing, I'd rather they make him know the difference between male and female regardless of the hair length and not "wow I totally thought you were a boy and yet I was attracted to you anyway, this manga was THIS close to being BL if you weren't wearing a skirt!!" Hence why I said "unimaginative" and "questionable message." Your gender isn't "short hair = man!!1!" and I truly fear for society in general if this narrow view is what's going to be pushed over and over again.
