How do you take a great manga and turn it into whatever the hell this is? Wow. I’m so glad I read the manga before watching this because I definitely wouldn’t of read it. So I can’t stress this enough here, if you’re planning on experiencing this story then please read the source material.There’s some adaptations that are on par with the manga, but this absolutely is not one of them. It’s atrocious.

The still frames. Oh god, the still frames. Am I watching a pop up book? The character models, DEAR LORD what have you done to the precious character models? It’s an insult ... to the original art. I know animation isn’t going to be as beautiful as the manga page, but I’m a kind person so I’d spare a point for effort.

I feel like it’s difficult to write a review on a story that’s done 10000 times better elsewhere. Please read the manga reviews and proceed from there. Move along. Thank you.

Strong start. Grabbed my attention from the start of chapter 1 to the end of chapter 4. Easy a 9/10 from me. A handsome female lead? An attractive forward male love interest? Count me in. Anddddd that’s it. Since volume 2, this manga has been spiralling down hill. The whole "I'm nervous" shit is overdone with Yoi. Yes. I know this type of inner dialogue is prevalent in Shoujo, but there’s such thing as too much. It hinders any real conversation flow between the two characters. I’m not expecting their relationship to be smooth sailing, there’s no fun in that. However when the FL can’t ... chill the fuck out, it’s tiresome to say the least. So unfortunately, I'm getting bored quick with Yoi when she's not in Prince mode, which is the only time she really shines for me. (and volume 1)

Minor spoilers here. By chapter 10, there’s already a second guy introduced while the two main characters are still pretty much a mess. The pacing is awfully bad. He also looks like Yoi if she were actually born a guy so gotta throw some minuses for the lack of art diversity. Such a shame because the characters are beautiful. I would like to see what else our mangaka Mika has up her sleeve design-wise. Not to mention that throwing in the second dude is so typical and I just expected something different from this manga. My own fault, I guess?

Anyway I still plan on following the story to see how things progress. I’m hoping somehow there’s a turn around. I’m not holding my Breath though. 6.5/10
