Preliminary Spoiler

If I had to describe this series in just 3 words, it'd be "romance done right."

On the surface, Sakurai-san wa Kizuite Hoshii doesn't do anything revolutionary that hasn't already been done in other romcoms. But that's not where its appeal comes from, in my opinion. A series doesn't need to be unique to be good, it just needs to be executed well. And that's where this series truly shines: Amazing pacing and execution.

A theme you see in many romcoms nowadays is the author stretching the series out to milk it for what it's worth, long after it reasonably could have ended. Some series can get ...

Preliminary (14/26 chp)
This is a super sweet, vanilla, story with damn good art and panelling.

That's really all you need to know, there's no drama, there's nothing special, all it is are some damn loveable characters and their relationship that the Mangaka somehow makes seem like a damn finominal love story.

If you like the sweeter romance shows I cannot recommend this more, manga like Tonikaku and Ichizu de Bitch Na Kouhai also sort of fall under this type of genre but this is by far the most wholesome one out of the three. I truly enjoyed it and it made me really love the parts of romance anime ...

This story is very repetitive and boring to be straight with you. The female lead constantly flirts with the boy and he's confused on whether she likes him or not when she clearly only acts like that around him. She goes as far as to share drinks, get up close, and even bite his ear and he continues to be this dense character.

The chapters follow a common procedure. Girl teases guy, guy gets embarrassed, and then a large frame of the girl making a flirty smile with sparkles all around. The same scenario occurs EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER. Their character design is extremely empty, with ...

So, it went down on a really traditional comedy/romcom path. The usual moves, usual character behaviour and even desing. By looking at a distance it really is nothing original. Which it isn't meant to be because of how short it is.. I mean, it is a 4 volumes manga, of course things have to happen fast, and in such short storyline you must have an original thing going and the rest doesn't really matter, and that original bit is literally the manga's title. She wants him to notice she likes him. And everything is basically built around this. Both jokes and love bits, they are ...

First things first, I'm reviewing the first 8 chapters. I will come back and review again once more chapters are out. With that said, let's get some background.

This manga is made by a hentai artist. A pretty good one, at that. This is (to my knowledge) his first title that doesn't involve explicit sex. That's also all I knew going in.

This is a pretty run of the mill story about "two students getting close and eventually hooking up" if you're expecting anything besides that then go no further. What this has that other mangas like that don't is some fantastic art, great panelling, and a ...

It's not reinventing the wheel: it's your plain vanilla wholesome school romcom SoL.

No frivolous drama, no pointless turnarounds, just boy loves girl, girl loves boy, story progresses in a cute way for them to be together forever in the end.

There's only two characters, and they're well developed enough so you can take a liking and relate to both somehow. You've been a teenager, you've been in their shoes.

Art is really something else and makes the show even better. We can see Akino Sora really put their heart into this work.

It's a short manga so it makes for a good afternoon or evening read ...

A simple, sweet, and wholesome story.

The premise revolves around Makoto who likes studying and lazing around that is until his friend Sakurai comes to hang out. From the first chapter, you can clearly tell she likes him but she wants him to notice her and make the first move. The scenarios kinda felt repetitive in every chapter, Sakurai always shows the same smile over and over again which kinda felt creepy but that's not really anything. Sakurai isn't afraid to express what she's feeling cause she will let Makoto know what's on her mind whether he wants to hear it or not. You will think ...

Preliminary (25/26 chp)
This is probably the first romcom manga I've read that bloomed from such ordinary circumstances. Normally there's a gloomy guy who meets a popular girl through some incident or maybe because of some secret a girl and a boy get together, all of these stories are pretty similar to each other. Though this one is different. Makoto and Sakurai's love blooms such differently that this manga gives the feeling that love can be grown from simple circumstances. The male protag is pretty normal, not a gloomy otaku or any used niche like that. The female protag might be one that is seen in many teasing ...

It's simply sweet and diabetic. But that's it.

Romcon with a straightforward chick and typical school MC, it's passable and decent. Progress is somewhat slow but considering there are only 26 chapters, its better than some who takes forever to realise their own feelings.

Although the MC is your typical generic, uncool-ish, shy, and wimpy MC, at least he isn't as dense as most romcon MCs. He already had an inkling halfway through (still a bit slow on the uptake though, given all the hints). FMC is forceful, direct, and gives lots of hints. Imagine Maegami from Tawawa on Monday but slightly less possessive. Even the ...

Mixed Feelings
Pretty okay romance story but the lovers should have confessed like 20 chapters earlier so it feels dragged out. The confession was okay too, was not really impactful after just a tedious wait. Might have been better if confession was done earlier and focused more on being an actual couple

Art is really well done and beautiful, character a unique looking and background environment is also pretty good

Not too much character development, like i said the confession took a bit long but they have pretty fun personalities especially the female lead

if you are looking for a simple read this will be great but for more ...

This is a pretty typical "sociable cute girl goes for the shy boy" story for the most part, and it's quite enjoyable. It definitely made an impression on me, more than I expected before reading it. It's a short, competently written love story that should give you a healthy dose of insulin for the week.

I like how well the manga sets up the main relationship, it's done in a snappy and effective manner pretty early on, which makes it easier to appreciate both of the main characters as, you know, actual characters. It's obviously hard to enjoy a romance story if you don't like the ...
