I've only read until the 6th chapter and I guarantee it's a solid comedic series. Danshi Koukousei No Nichijou Vibes, but just slightly fewer pages per chapter. I'm not used to reading webtoons and long strip but this is one of those that I can read anytime I feel like it. It's one of those series where you don't mind reading from the first chapter all over again because it's just that funny.
As far as art goes, it's almost a typical slice-of-life and comedy manhua, but it doesn't really matter since the the focus is on the comedy. If you're familiar with Randowis' works or
...
the manga Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa, then you will surely love the expressions they make.
It's been a while since I've had a good laugh and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something else or taking a break from fnatasy, action, adventure genres like me.

***MANY SPOILERS AHEAD, SO BE WARNED!!!***
This review is gonna be for both the manga and the novel since they don't have much of a difference in terms of story progression. There may be some veeeery subtle differences but doesn't affect the whole flow. The main difference I can say is just the art.
***Skip to the last for TL:DR***
Moving on to the main review, it's a damn great read.
***PLOT***
The plot and even the comedy is great. Also, our dear MC is one with almost no talent and thus after accidentally obtaining an immortal body, he studied as hard as he could just to get back at
...
those who scorned him for his lack of talent. But after he learned those things and decided to show it off to those who mocked him, they were long gone. Fast forward to the present time of the story, he had spent at least 5000 years studying the arcane arts.
The story starts out with the MC, Asley, and his familiar, Pochi, inside their dwelling, a renovated dungeon, and after some time and persuasion from the latter, they decide to go out on a journey, leaving their home. They meet a bunch of people from a ruined and abandoned town, help them get up on their feet, and even teach a few kids the arcane ways. In order to learn more of the world, he sets out on another journey to enroll in the Magic University in Beilannea together with his familiar and one of his students. After which, they go to school, learn even more things, and participate in battles, and go adventuring. Pretty linear plot so far.
Further down the line, due to circumstances, he was forced to leave Beilannea, and after his return, he had to set forth for another journey. This is where the plot gets exciting (at least for me). Due to God's influence waning, the absence of Holy Warriors became a huge concern for the world as they are the only ones who can defeat the to-be-resurrected Devil King. His next journey is set for the past where he was transported there along with Pochi to fulfill the missions that were given to him. After which, they return back to their original time line and prepare for the impending invasion and awakening of the Devil King.
I think that's a shortened, dummed-down summary so far.
Thinking about it again, the plot seems linear. The arc wherein he gets transported back builds the foundation of the history that is known in his era. Although he thinks through things, like hesitating whether he should interfere in current events which may lead into a discrepancy in his era, they were all actually part of the 'plan' which God had already predicted and foreseen. At that point, he realised that the actions he takes, more or less, wouldn't affect the timeline he came from, save a few times he realised that some dots needs to be connected like asking a favour from one of the Heavenly Beasts, the Violet Phoenix Shi'shichou in the past actually had some connection to the future.
Also, as his returned is set in stone, on matter how long he stays in the past, he spends quite a long time in antiquity. And while he does so, the state of the Nation where the other characters are become quite chaotic. To the masses, it's as if nothing changes but in actuality, they are being led by the nose of Ishtar the Black, who is assumed to be a devil controlling the upper echelons of the nation. Asley and Pochi in antiquity builds strong bonds and connections that will soon serve him well in the future when he returns. As he makes connections and forge bonds, the bonds he had forged in the future also does their own thing to survive al the while keeping in mind the actions Asley had done for them.
The plot line is quite interesting (although I've pretty much summarised the events until volume 09.... sorry :v), albeit the forced comedy from time to time. But there are also some times where the mood becomes serious when it needs to, not that it does every time.
Other elements from the whole story also emphasises the point where devils and demons are evil and humans and God are justice. It's refreshing since most plot lines nowadays are either reversed where devils and demons are justice and those who revere God and the church are evil. If not that, then they are neutral. Point of interest as well lies with the elves, being labelled as dark elves as they introduced the devils into the world.
***CHARACTERS***
Moving on to characters. There are a fuck ton of them, but rest assured, you will be able to remember their names, or at least just their looks. Starting from half of volume 04 and volume 05 onwards of the novel (WN), there will be a lot of characters that will be shoved to your face. But at least their names and probably faces and features will be repeated over the course of the story. They would have links to different important events of characters. Some would even prevail till the future era. And among those who are introduced, no one is as significant as Asley and Pochi. Not because they are the main characters but mainly because of their interactions with each other and with others. Besides them are stereotypes such as a kind-hearted lass, cool yet carefree womaniser of a hero, condescending antagonists, muscle-for-brains type, you name it and it's most probably there. Besides those, Asley and Pochi are just labelled as eccentrics.
***ART***
As I've written down earlier, the art from the novel and manga are worlds apart. From book cover to content, there is a clear difference especially when it comes to details. Both are great in my opinion but if I were to choose, then I'd prefer the art of the manga. Since the manga is still quite a bit away, as compared to the novels (both LN and WN in JP), which are already completed, it's worth to wait for the release.
***TL:DR***
Art, great. Plot, good. Characters, hmmm perhaps.
Both the novel and manga have great art, the plot is somewhat linear and is easy to follow, but character development is somewhat lacking in my opinion as they were replaced with comedy (and forced comedy). But with characters, besides the development, there is also the entanglement and bonds. Almost every character introduced will be somehow connected or related one way or another unlike some stories where after their introduction and appearance in a single volume, they die down and never to be brought back up again until the end of the series.
To further add to the TL:DR plot, even when including space-time continuum stuff, it acted just as a tool and maintained a linear progression. Like a fait accompli of sorts wherein his actions, no matter what he thought and done, are already set in stone and would not affect the space-time continuum. Get me? Well even I can't explain it unless the novel was read ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
All in all, it's a great read with intertwining events and characters, refreshing plot (read the last paragraph of ***PLOT***), eccentric main characters but at least a comedic duo, and also great art.

=== Before reading, there are spoilers in almost every paragraphs because of tropes; kip to the end for TL:DR ===
OKAY! Firstly!
It's just plain average. Similar to every other RPG-isekai genre's out there with an OP protag. So get ready to turn your brain off and just read... You might even just 'throw your common sense out' because of all the tropes and typical story lines as expected from this genre.
Secondly!
The tropes. Tropes all around, tropes galore! Since its an RPG-isekai, it means there are OP skills, also multiple skills that you can't bother reading all of them like in TenSura. Since there are lotsa
...
skills, there are lots titles as well. It's a game, so no doubt there's the ultra-rare, high-class, ridiculously expensive skill, "Inventory". And after getting a feel of inventory, some "Analysis" (identification skill), and getting the feel of casting skills, a carriage gets attacked and MC saves the people... and boom a harem starts from there (probably)... just kidding, its some other character that would prove to be useful as a connections-fodder.
Other tropes, of course don't forget the guild cards, ranking system where S is the top and ranks 'E' and below are the starting ranks, and either slime subjugation or herb gathering is thee only available quest there is for starting adventurers. Don't forget the 'I have amnesia' trope because it's very important for side characters to just brush it away thinking 'it can't be helped' and proceed to explain every common sense thing in the area to the MC. Also, the 'touch this thing/ magic circle here so we can determine if you're a criminal or not'. But again, these are common place with RPG-isekai genres, so no surprise there.
Thirdly!
There are a few things that I like very much. One is that he isn't a teen who was some kind of worldly knowledge as if he's some kind of middle aged man who experienced the horrors of war and peace. Although his age is quite close to is, 21, it's still more acceptable at least in my opinion. It's just me but I'm tired of seeing teens all the time and just add dramatics and boom got your typical MC.
Also, levelling here is more decent compared to some other series where after just killing one monster, be it strong or weak, their level increases from Lv. 1 -> Lv. 420 or Lv. 1 -> Lv. 69420 or some sh*t and obtain a truck load of skills no one bothers to read except for those die hard fans, author, and editors XD.
The MC's skill casting is also quite nice since he doesn't need to chant some long sutra where in reality you could have been killed by an arrow. He just needs to use imagination and boom, magic. Since it's from imagination, it isn't like some dude who has photographic memory who can memorise 100+ skills like Ains-sama. I'm not saying it's bad, but c'mon, even if you're a pro player, memorising a sh*t-ton of skills is just........... :v Well anyway, it seems the MC is the only so far who can do such thing. Normally, others would need to take around three (3) seconds to cast.
But it does make you wonder, since MC uses his 'imagination' to cast magic, 'why not cast magic to create 'life' even if its just pseudo like homunculus or familiar? Well... plot armor, GO! It might have been explained further in the series, but it was hard for me to finish the third chapter.
This turned out to be more of a rant in my opinion hee hee. But it's still a review, nonetheless.
All in all, TL:DR, at the end of the day, this kinda series are only for those who especially like this type of thing.
If you want a zero-to-hero OP protag who has certain skills and titles that are world-class OP and only he (or a select few) has them, then go for it. If you're a fan of RPG-isekai tropes, then go for it. If you don't mind turning your brain off and throwing common sense out the window, then go for it.

To start off, there aren't much spoilers in this review.
Have you respected a teacher so much that you often sing praises of him? Have you encountered a student so stubborn he would never do as you say? Have you a friend you can confide in and place all your trust in him or her? You can sympathise and empathise with these types of characters in this manga.
There's quite a large amount of character development and interactions and some world building, at least in my opinion. The character's personality doesn't change all that much even after a significant amount of time has passed but you
...
could see maturity in some. As they age, you could see the bonds of one character to another, and sometimes, it would even be explicitly mentioned throughout the manga. As time progresses, their view on others would also affect how they think in the future and what paths to take. As far as world building goes, it's main focus is in a certain country. The ideologies, myths, values, history, etc are only of that country (as of now). No mention of those things from neighbouring countries. But all is well and fine. So if you're a sucker for character dev and world building, then this is a sure read.
Besides the ideologies and history, the environment of the story is quite 'good'. It set up reasons as to how events in the past affected the future. At the same time, there are quite a lot of foreshadowing that happens. The story was also able to establish how communities of people interact with other communities, mainly through excessive discrimination. Only very few individuals do not exhibit such.
The art style is also great, but it would be difficult identifying some others, mainly because of uniforms or similarly drawn faces and hair styles.
Overall, I really recommend this series especially if you are looking for character developments and world building. You can probably self-insert yourself into multiple characters and even sympathise and empathise their line of thought and actions.

A story where someone was reincarnated into a high elf (which can live for more than a thousand years) and decides to live carefreely. That's basically the whole plot of the series. Sub plots, or I guess you could call it that, is to meet new people and establish connections, to learn a myriad of things about the world and how it works, and establish connections. Emphasis on establish connections, e.g. meet new people. After reading chapter 3, that's what I can surmise from that point.
There isn't much flavour when it comes to world building other than this place and that place. The names of
...
the place is only of importance, generally speaking. And again, emphasis on meeting people. His connections are what expands the world, which is quite interesting. It's similar to Sousou no Frieren and Fumetsu No Anata E in which places doesn't hold much importance besides their names, but the people do. The story leans more like Fumetsu since its more linear and the connections are made on the spot, unlike Frieren where it connects both the past and the present through flashbacks, revisiting places (I forgot that term :v), and historical contexts.
The story moves a bit fast; moving in terms of months and years unlike most stories which progresses by the days or by a few days and weeks. At least the story still retains the importance of some characters through that time progression.
There are some major events that happen in the story which supposedly has a big impact on the whole environment, but it was just left out as if it wasn't important. Imagine a your school or workplace had a sudden change in the top brass. A new principal, chairman, or CEO suddenly stepped down from their position and you brush it off as if it didn't matter in the slightest but in reality, it will have a big effect on the environment. It lacks any, if at all, political aspects. I understand that the story is mainly a slow (even if it progresses by the months and years) slice of life story with no solid goal, but c'mon.
The MC, himself, is quite a mystery specifically his past life. All that is knowns is that he reincarnated, has knowledge from his previous life, and is a young adult when he was isekaid. No info on his death, age, sex, work, etc. But we can assume that he was a him who died at the age of 30. Regarding his current self as an MC, besides him being happy-go-lucky and labelled as an eccentric to the general populace, there's really no depth to his character. He's a flat character. Sure, he's cheery and gets serious but that doesn't add to his overall personality. In galges, it's like he's your typical friend A who gives advices and helps out from time to time.
One other thing that I've noticed is that, even if he reincarnated from contemporary Japan (probably), he doesn't use his 'knowledge' from his past life that often. I think it's good in a way that 1.) it's unlike other isekais where they use their 'knowledge' to the extreme and even shape the whole world like The Executioner and Her Way of Life, 7 Super High Schoolers something or other, and majority of isekais, 2.) it acts as an aid or complement to the story.
There are a few things that are questionable such as getting the top position with skill alone or, as per usual, Japan-themed things in a European-esque fantasy world, or claiming to have received something very important even if there is absolutely nothing to be gained. As for the top position, although it's a bit of a spoiler, they say you can become even king just by being super skilled in something (i.e. being a Dwarven King just by being the best blacksmith). That is something.... quite stupid in my honest opinion. Japan-themed trope, we all know. Kimonos, dojos, practice swings, Japanese names, dogezas (kowtow), all these besides the morality and ethics of contemporary Japan. Quite stereotypical and out-of-place. Lastly for gaining something, you ask someone to teach you a certain skill and the teacher leaves you alone without teaching you anything and leaves on a journey. The teacher returns after a few years but then the student says he needs to leave. Teacher apologises that he has not taught you anything (because it's true) but student says that he has learned a lot (of the skill) and even tells the teacher to spread his skill to future generations. I can't think of a simpler way of explaining it but it's quite BS.
All in all, the review became a rant one way or another. It might be just me since I tend to think of things in a more logical and rational way. If you just want to read for readings sake while looking for other stories to read, then this is manga is alright. If you want something that has more depth (in terms of world building, character depth, and plot/goal), then I suggest reading something else.

Typical RomCon with a little bit of twist regarding the MC's and FMC's situation and personality. Well, MC has a reason for rejecting girls' advances but even so, he is dense. But not Ichijou Raku dense. Besides that, just think of all the RomCon tropes you can think of and its bound to be there... well at least most of them. In most school RomCon manga's everything could have been solved in less than 10 chapters, but of course, it needs to be stretched out by adding tons of tropes. And this manga is no exception.
There really isn't much character background. This girl is
...
from here and is this character's that. This person is friend A who supports this character. These characters are typical jealous mobs. No further explanation. It might be a bit hasty to say, but it's been 62 chapters (as of this review) yet no further background on either of the characters. There isn't much depth to them. Why is she this, why is he that. There's a bit of it from the synopsis, but answers nothing else.
One saving grace of this manga is the art and flow of the story. I'd give it an 8/10 for the art and 7/10 for the flow.

There isn't much of character development in my opinion, a bit fast paced for me, art is mediocre. Plot is kinda bland.
It's interesting at first but slowly gets a bit boring. Standard VRMMORPG logic, mainly because of cluttered and an overwhelming amount of skills. It's to the point where you don't even bother yourself with reading them and just skip the texts. Although its neat that there are some aspects that don't follow the stereotypical characteristics of a VRMMORPG plot. Conversation between characters and logic behind the story feels so... forced. It's like the author delved into this kind of genre without even having researched
...
a bit
It's a good manga if you just want to read something while looking for something else. Gonna have to wait for more chapters and see if it has some potential. Giving it a 6 is quite generous from me.

Okay so it's been a while since there has been a recent review. Most recent one I saw was from a year over.
It's, in all honesty, great. The story, the concept, and especially the art are splendid. For the earlier chapters and volumes, that it.
The story was pretty decent up to about the 50-ish chapters. As you read more and progress through the series, plot and enjoyment, in my opinion, dropped a bit at the 60-70-ish chapters. And sunk a bit more when I reached the 80-ish chapters. Then at 90+ chapters, motivation to read just plummeted. And that's me being generous. Very close
...
to dropping though.
Characters and the whole plot become confusing, always talking about two things: family and betrayals. The latter made the whole plot a mix mash of shit you can barely make things out of. It's like reading a computer generated English translation of Chinese texts without even being proof-read. No, actually it's even worse than that. As for the former, it's just Dom spouting shit about family and calling it a day and making it plot. No substance whatsoever because its just plot armour over armour over armour.
The plot of this is like mixing a beverage. You make a fruit smoothie with cream and confectionary on top. It even has a little umbrella. It's packed with flavour and looks aesthetically pleasing. But as you drink it, the contents decreases. But because you want to keep the cup full, you add water. You keep adding water until its just plain water, effectively removing any flavour or decorations. It's become bland with little to no thrill and excitement. Just like the plot of the series the more you read it past chapter 60.
If it wasn't for so much confusion, plot armor, plot holes, and 'family' shit, I think about 23 volumes worth of reused and recycled plot can be condensed to just about 5-6 volumes i But hey, that's what I think. There's just too many shit going on that it drags the story and destroys it instead.
There are some characters that irk me because of:
1.) No character development whatsoever, except a select few. But considering the time for all the shit that took place (not even being a year after Yu got his black weapon series), it's understandable. But in retrospect, it's been month's that they have been together yet they stick to the same personality and become overbearing at some point.
2.) Their personality archetype are so overused that its become very irritating. You know those single minded characters who only think of one thing without contemplating of the consequences afterwards and only thinking about 'friends' this and 'family' that? Yeah, that's Yu. That single thought process affects everyone, apparently, and should have thwarted the plans of schemers. But nope, it became plot armour instead. :v
3.) The curious case of the missing characters who suddenly disappeared off the face of the manga because they are lesser than side characters but had some impact on the story. I mean, okay the story is more focused on specific people, but at least inform the readers where they at. Something along the lines of 'They are back in their base, recuperating'.
It's come to the point where reading the comments become more interesting than the manga/ novel itself. You know it went south for you if that's the case.
Well, right now, I'm just reading because of Shinoa, the best grill, and Ferid, the comic relief.

A very fat MC is unusual and may as well be interesting to read. Add into the equation the betrayal of the humans and him being assisted by demons, then it is worth a read even if just as a change of pace having nothing else to read.
It's just that the progress is a bit fast-paced like most fantasy genres with swords and magic. You would even see your typical tropes of antagonists who are too greedy or even a tsundere elf. Basically, this series is like a walking trope. It's not that bad, but not that good either. At least character types and personalities
