If you like Arima's character archetype, No.6 is another BL with a similar lead character. It's a totally different kind of story, but arguably has a similar dynamic between the romantic leads. Plus, it's got 9 manga volumes, 9 light novel volumes, and an anime. So if you felt like Boy Meets Maria was too brief, I've got great news for you.

Silly lil black haired person and a depressed white-haired person get into tension and then fall in love. (Not confirmed for Yoru to umi but It can be interpreted as love)

both have characters that have a "girly" trait about them that leads to some sort of insecurity (? not sure how to explain it)

Both mangas deal with very unique, even if slightly jarring to the reader, queer experiences. A lot of aspects in both can be related to by a reader or sympathized with, and it's important to understand these experiences safely so that we can better interact with the world - these stories are a fantastic way to do so.

Children in acting, and then a drama club later on, although plotlines aren't really the same. skip has subtle lgbt that's not in the main character. it's not overdone like western media. and I really enjoy the romance from both!

A heavy plot with thick relations. With traumatic experiences, the mangas main characters from Banana Fish (Ash) and Boy Meets Maria (Maria) explores the art of overcoming difficulties of finding their own true self and their identity. These two manga are fairly similar (although Banana Fish is a slightly longer more complicated read), and you’ll surely love one if you loved the other.

Realistic portrayal of trauma and how it affects characters, albeit in different ways. I find that both authors have an understanding of it and a way of depicting it without trivialization. Both titles are BL and have some disturbing themes/content

Shattered identity. A romance between two girls and two boys, both of which, can still please an open audience, for all to see at that matter. Bloom Into You and Boy Meets Maria are both good manga that uses their relationships given to build a story of understanding oneself from the identity crisis that they have grown to. Bloom Into does this with Nanami and her loss in her way of life, using Yuu and some other entities as a means to try and find her existential reasoning. Boy Meets does this with Arima and his gender identity due to the past he had gone through. Both  read more

- both disguise themselves as a completely normal, cute and chill slice of life but further in the plot progression they turn out to show the deepest, darkest most tearful traumas you can possibly imagine... - ...and they both did it great, with carefulnes and empathy - Arima and Eunyoung are literally the same characters in different universe, puting aside their design which also has many common features, both are theather kids with somehow femine name/nickname, huge trauma, and mental problems caused by it (for example anger issues) - Beautifully portrayed relationships, not just between the mcs
