First, I thought that this manga is all about romance, slice of life, drama and typically harem stories that I've read, probably because of it's artstyle or probably because it has the same feeling to it. I just thought that this manga will bore me to death--but I was wrong!

Story: 9

This is probably one of the best manga I've read in 2021, just because the plot ain't boring at all, the characters are not stupid and really explaining the loop thing and even their plan in fighting the shadows, which I like. I really like how the dimension thingy and how they really use ... the loop power that the mc has. It will definitely hooked you up in reading this story, they'll put a lot of questions and 'what the hell is happening' emotion but It will all make sense in the ending, which they really explain. I'm glad that it did not disappoint me throughout the series.

The story is good and even the art style! I really really love the fighting scenes in the manga, it is detailed and really felt every grain of emotion on what they want to convey.

All of them is great, they're character is really established and really well written, probably my favorite character is sensei(sorry forgot her name) she is really written well, even the side characters is also not stupid and just freaking shouting their names--they actually help to the main characters which is kerayzeee! I was absolutely crying because there's a lot of character development especially the mc, he knows what he was doing and being able to create a plan by learning to his past self!

It is a great rollercoaster ride on this manga, It bloody shot my head in so many theories and science shit but i really enjoyed it and i guessed that's the most important, enjoying the manga. There's a lot of recoil moments that I've done and just mindblown experience in this manga, mainly because i like how they explain it. Will i recommend it? Hell yeah, 1000/10. Such a great manga. It's a not just that i can control time so its okay for me to die anyway cuz ill revive--bitchh! NO! The loop is to complicated to my brain so just read it to understand. that's all tenchu!

This manga starts out as a really good creepy horror/mystery with time travel and somehow turns into resident evil 6 action shooter, then into naruto. There's legit 5 chapters in a row of fighting with spears and stuff like it's freaking dragonball

From start until chapter 98~100 it kinda deteriorates, but afterwards, it becomes garbage. The author pulls some completely random deus ex machinas, out of nowhere plot twists and kinda 180º changes the personality of the MC for some chapters, creating huge holes on the story, all so he can drag the story longer.
This manga could've just been wrapped up on chapter 100 and it ... would've been fine, why destroy the integrity of the plot for some extra dragonball fights??

The first chapters are gold but... afterwards it becomes meh. A bit of a wasted potential - could've been a 2nd steins gate. The ending wraps up everything tho and it's satisfying.

DO NOT BE FOOLED by the image and the title of the manga. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the seemingly calm intro of the manga. DO YOU THINK the main characters are all alive since the beginning? If you are uncomfortable with gore and jumpscare, please read this manga with caution. For you to decide if you like this manga or not. Use 1 chapter, yes... the first chapter, to see if you like it or not. If you don't, then please do not continue because it is going be hella scary and ... even more thrilling (still has goosebumps while writing this review). Also, if you like the concept of "All You Need is Kill", dive in.

For the following review, I won't talk about any characters and stories since this manga is best not to be spoiled. I can warn you, but that is it.


Story: 9.5
It has been a long while to have a manga that causes me to feel the pain and excitement of slipping pages to pages. There are so many plot twists and jumpscare that make me go "what the ****". Yet, everything fits perfectly. Obviously, this Mangaka has definitely taken a ton of time to setup this well-planned story. This thrillerish manga has one of the best story. -0.5 for potential future error.


Art: 10
The art of the manga cover or website image link is what draws me to read this manga. Seriously, Ushio is really pretty and the other characters are pretty well drawn in a sense that they are all unique and pretty intricated. While trying to draw those people, the author does a really good job to depict their expressions and (potential) deaths scenes (OOF). Even during the fighting scenes, we can see that the mangaka definitely took his time to draw out the "realness" of what if the character smash the floor or the effect of what if the character uses a hammer and smash on another person's body (oops, don't be scared after this sentence). No doubt, easy 10.

I don't want to get into this category because I will spoil a huge part of fun. But with the detailed planning made by the Mangaka, it is an easy 10 as well.

For a person who dislikes reading this type of genre(I read mangas to relax, enjoy and laugh), I won't say I "enjoy" it; however, my eyes and my hands won't allow me to take a break. Thus, the whole time, I feel that I am torturing myself for upcoming jumpscares and plot twists. To make sure I am not biased, I used my roommate as a white mouse haha and he said this manga is hella good (he also binged read 37 chapters like I did)! xD

Definitely a masterpiece so far. I will hate myself if I have ever seen an update because my right hand won't resist on clicking the link for the newest chapter ;( Yet, this manga is still developing and there is still potential room for error. So, -1 for safety.



The content is probably not children friendly. Yet, this manga has a huge manga to movie/anmie potential. Jeez. I still have goosebumps when I try to complete the conclusion because this manga is so daym good.

I have a thing for mystery narratives and the first few chapters of Summertime Render hooked me immediately. Unfortunately, the suspense built over the first third of the Manga quickly deflates as the author reveals way too much way too quickly in an effort to show the reader what the stakes of his story are. After that, Summertime Render's narrative quickly devolves into a needlessly drawn out and convoluted plot that barely leaves any real mystery to be explored, relying on the same tired Shounen tropes we have seen hundreds of times.

To me, the worst offender in this regard is the way this Manga handles ... its female characters. The amount of crotch shots, uncalled-for nudity and harem-esque character relations was just too much for me, making this one of the most fan-servicy Manga I've ever read (I typically avoid this stuff at all cost). The trope of a hapless male protagonist being surrounded by desirable women is eye roll-inducing to me. My distaste for these tropes may be a personal pet peeve, but, more egregiously, it is extremely creepy how often the reader is shown the semi-nude bodies of young girls and children. This seriously cheapens the story and feels beyond tasteless to me.

Many people have praised the art style, but it felt just OK to me. The author is a competent Mangaka but large parts of the art of Summertime Render lack distinctiveness and have an extremely generic look and feel to them. What stands out most in this regard are the rather static character designs—while Tanaka has a knack for grotesque facial expressions, he seems completely clueless when trying to have his characters express anything other than detached stares or absolute horror (this is particularly obvious in the few scenes meant for comic relief).

In addition to the protagonists being visually generic, they are severely lacking in personality, as there is hardly any meaningful character development to be found besides a very superficial romance subplot. As a result, Summer Time Render has a very hollow feel to it, since the blandness of most of its characters makes it very hard to care for them.

Overall, this Manga is just slightly above average, which is disappointing as it could have been great. The action that dominates the second half is often times ungratifying and hard to follow, which stands in stark contrast to the intriguing, if not entirely original premise. It was an enjoyable read but a far cry from the real heavyweights of the mystery genre (Stein's Gate and Billy Bat come to mind).

Spoiler review

So a bit of background context, I read this for the first time around 2019/2020 till chapter 100+ but then got sidetracked and had to reread from chapter 1 again in 2021 and given the action themed nature of this manga I can say it did a good job at
making me interested in the story.

So right from the first few chapters its clear that time travelling is involved, which reminds me of the manga 'All you need is kill' where the protagonist keeps undergoing endless loops of the same day until he manages to not get killed. This manga added a slight change to ... it which involved Shinpei not being able to keep endlessly looping as each time he loops several hours later as compared to the previous loop. This combined with the fact that the enemy was able to discern this weakness as well made this manga NOT about an OP protagonist, which is already a plus given the plethora of low effort OP protagonist manga today.

At the start of the manga, there were more romantic elements such as Mio involved and in the later half one could tell that the author decided to focus less on these romantic elements and more of the plot instead, which is good imho as ultimately the main genre is action.

The middle of the story involving both Haine and Shide vs Shinpei and his allies was exciting as the battle could go either way and at times I could really feel worried about whether Shinpei and his friends would survive given how he couldn't loop back an infinite number of times.

However, during the final battle, Shide's thought process of ending the world since he couldn't continue prolonging his life seemed superficial as not much dialogue was spent on his intentions. The ending was slightly confusing one could think that they went back in time again or went to a parallel universe instead.

Overall, the story was largely consistent although ending got a tad confusing with the time travelling stuff going on. Also the multiple number of loops made it hard to remember the exact sequence of the events.

TLDR: Would recommend if you are into time travel stuff

Tip: Take no longer than 2 days without reading this manga as the details in this manga are rather niche as it involves time travelling so its best to keep your mind fresh and read it whenever possible.

Well it's starts really good, with Shinpei's sister and love funeral and at the moment you least expect pum, everything goes to hell.

Is awesome how the autor introduces the shadows in the manga, because you never saw it coming. And the firts chapters when he plays with it in orden to explain better to the reader what they are, also adding the loop's thing, are very enjoyable and intriguing. There comes a point when you can't figure out how everything it's going to be solved, because there are so many things to consider: the shadows in the present, the temporal lines, the shadows in ... the temporal lines, the loop's limit, the deaths.

And it ended being a shame, because of all the options the autor could have done for the ending of this work, he chosed the worst one. I felt like all the effort, the sacrifices the characters did, the deaths and everything ended up being worthless because at the end everyone is happy, alive, and as if nothing happened. I can't stop thinking that the autor shit in all he created, he created certain bases for his work for nothing, because in the end it doesn't even mattered.

The 60% is excellent. It's a shame the final stretch left much to be desired. Despite this, it is enjoyable.

I'm in catch with the publishing in my country (vol. 8).
First, I can't believe this series is being so little known. I mean, if you're looking for a good mystery, this one is definitely a great one.
The story is terrific, it is very dynamic and enganging, and the setting is very nice (I have a soft spot for japanese little town by the sea). Moreover, it is mind tripping and often unexpected, so you definitely can't be bored. The characters are all quite interesting, the main duo works very well together, and although the story is definitely dramatic, there will be also moments that ... will break the tension and make you smile.
I hope for an anime adaptation in the future, it would be interesting to watch and would catch more audience for sure... and I hope so, this series really deserves more visibility!

Believe me when I say that I haven't read a manga this good in a bit in this genre in a while. The absolute feeling of despair and happiness that happens in the manga just feel so impactful when they happen. The twists and turns just kept catching me by surprise and were so good. I just got so unbelievably hooked into this manga and have no idea how this manga isn't anymore popular than it is. Definitely a hidden gem that is worthy of a read! If you are ever thinking to yourself "Should I read this manga?" give the first chapter a try!

The romance in the manga is definitely it's weak aspect. Basically the first couple chapters you know Ajiro likes Ushio and vice versa, but the main focus is on the shadows. They do touch on romance then and there.

This is my first review I have ever wrote. After just finishing the manga, I suddenly got the need to write a review on this. Well here it goes-
First I have to say I am not a big critique, and this is just my personal opinions.

I have to say I couldn’t stop myself from reading the manga after seeing the first two episodes of the anime, and I am not disappointed. It is a pretty great read, I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best but was pretty enjoyable.

Now let’s start with art, the artstyle is absolutely stunning, especially in the ... last boss fight each panel looked really really good.

Characters: The characters are very well written, they think in the way a normal person does (if you get what I mean) The MC has to be one of the best MCs I have seen. He isn’t dramatic, is objective (lol), realistic, and really damn smart. The side characters are very well done as well. They aren’t very extra and over dramatic and they act like normal people with their own personalities. And they help out the MC as well, without asking too many questions and stuff. Ushio is a very fun character added to the cast. I love the chemistry between shinpei and ushio. I would say my favorite character is sensei and her brother. Love them both!

Story: the story has been a pretty wild ride. It’s not a fully breaking your head type of story. It can get you confused at times but one of the good points is that you don’t need to keep searching every corner for a clue because the characters itself will figure it out and you will know. I have to say the first part of the story was really good, but it started getting weak after. The things started dragging out a bit and that’s the reason I couldn’t give it a 10. But the overall concept is pretty interesting. But I also feel it had a lot more potential.

Enjoyment: I have enjoyed this a lot, and couldn’t stop myself from reading it. Like I said it was a wild ride. The characters (especially the MC) were refreshing.
The ending is satisfying. I heard they are the ending the anime in one season so if it’s like that, maybe some of the stuff won’t get dragged out but let’s see.

Edit: I realized I haven’t spoke about the villians XD I have to say the villains are well done as well, very smart. The fact that the villains are really smart as well makes it hard for the mc, so it goes back and forth which is so intense. I love the motivation of the main villain as well, even it’s not sympathetizing, I still like it tho. Emotional impact wise - I was almost at tears seeing a certain character’s death cuz it was emotional, and stuff is intense. It wasn’t thaat impactful but it does keep you at the edge of your seat at times.

So, it's been a hot minute since I've made a review and after reading this I was kinda in the mood to do it again.

I've had this manga in my plan to read for an eternity but held off on reading it until, suddenly, there is an anime adaptation. So I watched up to episode 3 and was like "Aight, that's it, I'mma read the manga now" and tried to cram it inbetween everything going on right now.

I'M trying to keep this as spoiler-free as possible but I will leave a warning if there's gonna be one after all

And now, to not waste ... any more time, let's start the actual review:

TL,DR: An exciting action thriller with some nice underlying supernatural mystery about a guy time-traveling/looping that gets elevated by its rather logical and rational thinking cast and a great protagnist-antagonist-dynamic, that at times tends to be a bit too dramatic I guess. Definitely a recommended read and so far anime looks great too

Now, the long version

STORY:
Summer Time Rendering is a timeloop manga with a much similar premise to Re-Zero or Madoka Magica. Contrary to those two shows, this one focuses a lot more on the logical and practical way of solving the problems presented instead of the characters' personal psychological struggles and the emotional side of it all (though there is some of that in here too). It's a pretty neatly done, yet very fast paced story but at times it can get a bit tiring and a bit too dramatic. Personally though, I'd consider this more of an action thriller than an actual mystery story. And unlike some other shounen manga getting praised for its uniqueness *cough cough* not mentioning any names *cough cough*, this one manages to deliver exactly that, uniqueness, despite having such a similar premise to a lot of other works.

CHARACTERS:
As I mentioned before, the characters in this are much more rational and logical, trying to look at their situation objectively and solve their problems in the best way they can. Shinpei is such a nice breath of fresh air as a protagonist for this genre and his chemistry with the other characters makes for a great reading experience, especially with Ushio, who is a delight to watch go through her shenanigans and badass-ness all the time.
Everyone of the characters gets a chance to shine and proper develop into what they are at the end of the story and there's not one that is unlikable, well except for Totsumura cuz he's just useless (kinda wish my prediction that he'd make the kill shot would come true but alas you can't have everything I guess). And it's not only on the protagonist side that the characters get to show what they're capable of.
Which makes me come to the most impressive part of this manga for me: The dynamic between the protagonist and the villains. The concept of the villain "what if the 2D character becomes aware of the 3D world and tries to actively pull the plug from it" itself is a neat concept but the way they are going about it just sometimes leaves me in awe. Both protagonists and antagonists are actively using both the others' weaknesses AND strengths' against them in the smartest way they can always leaving the other party to try and figure out a way to rework their plans. And their motivations and actions I can actually get behind and understand why they are doing what they are doing. At some points, when it still was just a bit more mysterious what their end goal was, I actually found myself rooting for the villains to just make Shinpei's quest as hard as possible, and sure as hell they really did.

Definitely the best part of the manga and the story and I know I'm probably not the only one in thinking so.

ART:
The art is very nice and you can follow most of what is happening quite easily, even in the fights (that's sometimes a big problem I have when reading manga). Not the best I've seen but still just really nice to look at.
Having said that, I think I might have just found my personal favorite manga panel of all time in the colored two-page spread in the final chapter. YOU KNOW WHICH ONE. Cuz TTHAT, was beautiful.

ENDING/CONCLUSION:
So, before reading this I've been hearing a lot about it having a disappointing ending but to be quite honest: I don't see it. It managed to tie up everything neatly, left nothing really unresolved and gave a satisfying conclusion to pretty much every character's arc. The complain I hear the most is that it is "rushed" but imo if you think that this has a rushed ending then you haven't been paying much attention to how fast paced the story was in the first place, because it was always like this from the beginning. Or maybe that is just because I basically read this in like 5 days.....

ENJOYMENT / EMOTIONAL IMPACT:
I am a very huge fan of the time travel / time loop story-trope. That gets pretty obvious when you look at my lists and favorites. But that also means that I tend to be overly critical about stories that try to handle this topic because it is a topic you have to handle extremely carefully otherwise you'll write yourself into a corner. Thankfully, I didn't have that problem because it manages to just tie up everything quite neatly.
The biggest problem I had was that, again, this manga tends to get a little bit overdramatic at times and in these moments such a fast pace like this one has is a big disadvantage in getting the scene across right. Although I do have to say that there are some emotional scenes that still managed to deliver a gut-punch to me and made me tear up a bit.
Overall aside from a few gripes I had a very good time reading this and would recommend every fan of supernatural mystery-thrillers to give this one a go. And I'm especially excited to see what the author has in store for the anime since he is working with the animation staff on trying to improve upon things he felt he made a mistake.

This gets a whooping score of 7.5 - 8 / 10 from me.

The story is complex because the creator uses each and every piece of the story to its fullest for example think of chess it has 16 pieces on both sides and each piece has multiple moves and when you are using multiple moves for multiple pieces it becomes highly complex so for that, just waiting for a moment and thinking about it all the loose end tie beautifully at the end.

The writer was not afraid to do what to be done even if the story got complex.

Really ... would urge people to read it in 4-5 chapters at a time pattern.

What a journey, saw one more episode of anime this weekend but got so hooked that I Couldn't wait for the anime to continue so stayed up all night and read rest of the chapters ahead of it. It was worth it. and I'm so glad I read this manga.
Great MC and useful female MC . best supporting characters with good backstories and one of the best villain .and last fight was totally amazing.
overall Great story. Great conclusion with Unexpected twist.

i want more manga like this one.

This is a great story with all the typical "ingredients" that I love in manga: the ones that you can find in Steins;Gate, for instance, and those more typical of the Japanese folklore. The reader who loves the work and "Mythos" of Morohoshi Daijirou will definitely love Summertime Render. As typical in Morohoshi, here one can find references to the Kojiki, the gods of Shintou, The Land of Tokoyo, and of course faithful references to the Japanese rites. The reader familiar with the famous movie "The Body Snatchers" and its more recent remake will love this manga.
Other aspects that will not disappoint the reader ... are the "design" of the story, which is flawless. The art is also great, and the characters are incredibly "alive." And I'm grateful to the author for the conclusion of the story, which truly satisfied me. The only negative aspect of this work, in my opinion, is that it's a little too unfair that the author did not openly state his debt with Morohoshi.

So I decided to give the manga a go because I have seen the first episode of the anime (heard live action are in talks too) and was dying to know what happens with Shinpei figuring out how to solve everyone’s evil doppelgängers. Now I will say that the story was unnecessary long winded and pretty boring at times because it kept repeating the whole situation with Shinpei always been reversed in time without a single hint. It just made me care less about the characters but more on the mystery side of things on why these shadows are appearing on the island in the ... first place. Ngl, I love the art like it was easy on my blind eyes and when there were coloured scenes added in there, they literally are stunning af.

I’m not calling this the best series I have ever come across but if you are the type of person who just wants something different to binge on and don’t care much of the plot, try this out..
