Xin and Lun Hu's rematch! I can't believe he's fighting him with one arm just how strong is he? The new ED is awesome it feels like the beginning of a new arc.

I guess that was pretty ballsy of Lian Po, but all Meng Ao has to do is hold his ground because now it seems his vice generals have quite a bit of breathing room.

Not sure how I feel about the wheel movement attack. I mean in theory if they had it choreographed really well maybe they could do some damage, but I mean they would have to do it perfectly. Guess they did have plenty of time to perfect it, but Lun Hu did lose a lot of his soldiers. Either way it looked weird but it was pretty badass.

So much hype for next episode. Lun Hu vs Xin II and Lian Po vs Meng Ao headquarters, just waiting for the wild card.

New ED, The Sketchbook is really growing on me, but I liked the last one better.

Yeah, i'm somewhat doubtful as to how workable the wheel formation would be. (T-t-that's not how cavalry works, General Lun Hu!) For a moment, I thought they might be performing some kind of cantabrian circle but alas, some things you just have to let go.

Not everything about this series is absolutely 100% realistic, keep that in mind. Pretty good episode though, did well to get you psyched up for the next.

So in an earlier episode thread on I said the war would end at about 28, I see it ending at the end of 29, 1 episode won't cover what's left. They may even drag it a bit into episode 30.

I'll say one thing, people are going to hate how this anime ends, since it's surely going to end as the next war, which is 10x bigger and more important than this one, is about to start. Hopefully they make a 25 odd episode anime next year to cover just that war and what happens after, it'd probably be the best season of Kingdom yet and they can also end it on a good note unlike how this one will end. I'd like to think they'll have a better budget for it as it'll be shorter, IF they decide to make it.

lol i was hoping for some kind of logical explanation for the wheel tactic... hoh well.
i guess in reality if you got the coordinating right, it could be used as a surprise attack as they wont know where you're penetrating...

Best I can explain the wheel movement would be like this :
Imagine... a rock being dripped on by several rows of water. Eventually, the rock becomes smaller.

Since the cavalry is moving in a vortex/wheel formation, and steadily encroaching on the infantry, the momentum picks up. And upon contact, they begin to sort of just drive the enemies away from where they're coming. Because, if you're an infantryman, and you see cavalry getting closer and closer in some weird formation, you don't really want to stay there. This lead to the infantry either going left or right, to stay out of the wheel/vortex's way. This lead to the formation in the middle of the vortexes being separated from troops close enough to help. Then, the vortex's 'tail/head' split off, heading into a pyramid/wedge column through the middle formation, which is now weakened and facing a head on charge by two cavalry formations. And you know how much infantry can do against cavalry head on from watching this.

Probably a very complicated, rare and confusing formation, but if you can do it like Lun Hu, and the formations you're targeting are 'standard' quality (basically, any unit here that isn't named/lead by someone important) it might give you a good penetrating power.

I assume Lun Hu never let down Lian Po. So Lian Po basically made a plan of Lun Hu attacking from in-frond and himself from behind making the headquarters really stretch to defend both sides and unavoidably collapsing.

So if Xin manages to hold Lun Hu there and even eliminate him then it allows headquarters to focus on their defense from behind and making Lian Po's attempt to taken Meng Ao's head quite a lot harder.

You got to understand that the wheel tactic isn't some omnipotent thing that will make it threw any defense, it's a trick basically using momentum. The purpose is not to penetrate defenses but to make them go left and right so a week place can appear for the wheell to then unfold and attack like an arrow.

Good episode, though I'm pretty disaapointed with the lazy animation these past few weeks
And I wonder where this season will end.... At this pace I'm guessing they will end it when they revealed that surprise

The wheel move was pretty awesome. :O I imagine the biggest thing about it is how the soldiers would have had to know awhile ahead of time to figure out a way to combat it otherwise they would just be pushed like what happened. And ha, that crazy Lian Po just showing up like that.

Worried about Meng Ao. Everyone always calls him a mediocre general, and now he's infront of Lian Po.

Also, ED had Xin wearing armor for once and it looked pretty badass. Hopefully, after this arc, he'll start wearing that to war instead of his usual clothes.

That wheel move was just weird. A lot of the battles today could have been turned around with bows and arrows, where the hell are all the archers. I feel like Qin is going to lose this one, Meng Ao just isn't up to the task.

No actually they can't. Modern warfare isn't something a guy with a bow and an arrow can take part in.

I do believe he meant "in this episode" sort of 'today', or are we jesting?

I was thinking too that why not just give Lian Po a rain of arrows as soon as they realises that he showed up.

Arrow are hardly dishonorable. However, arrows are too weak to penetrate the plot armor of important characters of this anime unless they are shot by the top 10 bowmen.

Yea I think arrows are hardly dishonorable too. But after watching episode 28, I think the reason is that Lian Po was actually out of range from the bow units. Also, since arrows are quite light, the wind will not let it travel far. The reason it seems so near to us is probably parallax error?

Heh, I share the reservations about the wheel formation! You get a whole bunch of guys running around in circles, sort of "grinding away" where the wheel touches the defensive line. Problem is, everyone, of either formation, that dies is going to be at that same spot, leading to an awkward pile of bodies. Now all those wheeling horsemen are suddenly jumping over the bodies of their comrades while attempting to avoid attacks from foot-soldiers at the same time.

These warriors are full of pride and self-interest. That wheel tactic is quite interesting.
