I enjoy most genre of manga and anime, except for hentai - which isn't in my department. Occasionally I may skip horror story that is "too horror" like those that make my heart jumps continuously and I get nightmare reading or watching. I kinda like a scaredy cat huh (lol)! Hmm... though having said that, if I find a particular series or show that is good, I will pick up my courage to read and watch it.
I remember years ago when censorship wasn't that stringent and many uncensored shows were broadcasted on TV and also being sold in the form of VCDs, horror stories back then were "very" horrifying (haha). For instance, the piercing of a stick into the vampires' heart in a vampire show or dismembering of human body parts in a serial killer film can be very traumatising (:O)
I don't particularly like too much of fan service though a lot of series have them all the time. My favourite series, Fairy Tail, is one of them. I suppose it can't rule out that this kind of presentation is done deliberately for marketing purposes. Nevertheless, as long as the content and story line are acceptable, I don't pay much attention to such trivial matters. I just put on a smile and pass through it (hehe).
I have been reading manga and watching anime (and a little on light novels) for many years and it is still the most enjoyable hobby I have ever had since I was a kid. I'm sure many individuals in the manga-anime community will agree how fun it is and will spend hours - as much as their time permits - on reading manga or watching anime. We may have cultivated many hobbies through the years of our lives but not many of them are able to withstand the time. Somehow, I feel that manga and anime seem to be one of those interests that people pick up either at their early years like during childhood or even when they have grown up as a teenager or an adult, it appears that their enthusiasm did not diminish over time. Perhaps the taste relating to genre or demographic may change, but the love of them remain unchanged. At times we may take a break, but we still go back to it. Personally, I took a break some years ago and had no manga and anime at all for about a year. However, I started to pick up the hobby again. Hence I am back into the manga-anime world and it feels like there is a lot to catch up on (hahaha).
I used to moderate forum and write reviews previously, as well as some translation work, but decided to stop due to busy schedule in life. Work like these would require a lot of spare time and effort which can be hectic sometimes. However resuming to being a reader and viewer does bring back my interest in these areas. But I kinda staying in the shade to enjoy the coolness of the breeze. :)
I have a number of favourites which I always enjoy all the time. Long-live series like Doraemon is like everyone's love. I used to watch it on TV when I was a little kid. The series is still showing on TV (Haha) and I watch it whenever I can. I also buy the merchandised stuff toys that display the different emotions of Doraemon. Kinda bring joy and laughter whenever I look at them. I wonder if there are Doraemon fans out there...
The other series that I like are One Piece and Fairy Tail. Obviously - for Fairy Tail - not the fan service but the story line. I particularly like the music in the series. It is one of the best, if not the best music in the Japanese animation. Even listening to it can bring tears to my eyes. Needless to say, I can pour out my heart while watching the anime.
Here are some of the OST clips from Fairy Tail which I listen to very often.
One Piece, on the other hand, has a different style of fan service. When talking about fan service, it does not pertain to solely on sexuality content though this is the most successful marketing tool to please the audience or readers. One Piece picks up the approach in the form of humour and exaggeration such as idiotic gesture and behaviour. This subtle kind of fan service can captivate many people's interest and charms their hearts. The music of this anime, though different from Fairy Tail, also has its beauty. It is as fascinating as it befits the story and its characters which is very enjoyable to listen to.
Here are some of the clips that accompany me all the time.
There are also some other series that I like and enjoy all the time. Series like Detective Conan, Q.E.D., You're Under Arrest!, Assassination Classroom, Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, Fruits Basket, Death Note, Haikyuu, Prince of Tennis, Claymore, 1/2 Prince, Gintama, Chi's Sweet Home and so on, are some of my favourites. Well, I do have a variety of interest in various type of genre.
Here are some of the music from Detective Conan series.

I have always intrigued by little things in life. Even just a hug to show that you care means so much. Or a mere presence when someone is feeling down can bring much comfort to another. At times, we may also have to give some space to someone to take a breather. We need it ourselves too. Therefore, it is important to spend an "alone" time to enjoy the serenity and calmness, and to still our hearts - as the song says, "Be Still, My Soul."
Be Still, My Soul
I hope that I will be able to meet some light-minded people, with sincere and genuine interest in manga and anime. It is always fun to get together with people to talk and discuss what we like (and what we don't like).
Years gone by and we have gone through the Covid pandemic. Though it has gradually subsided, the virus still continues to inflict people. However with the vaccination, many who had gotten the virus were able to recover well and quicker, with lesser side effects on their physical health. I wonder how you guys are doing.
Besides having diseases surging around, we also have nations' conflict and war. As a result, every country is facing fear, and those who have lost their loved ones are feeling the sorrow and devastation. On top of these disasters, inflation is creeping in fast and cost of living is increasing. As much as the world is changing and fallen, I hope everyone will look after yourself and your family. Love is priceless. Appreciate the things we have and be thankful for them, regardless how small or insignificant it is. Have you expressed your love and gratitude to your loved ones lately?
I would like share this music with you. I hope it will help you lift up your spirit of joy and hope.
i like most genres as well except ones that are too heavy on romance or drama, i dont really watch hentai cos i dont get the point of watching it lol (NOT into 2D women)
ill tell you some of my favourites with a bit of info:
OREGAIRU- I LOVE IT MORE THAN ANYTHING, I HAVE REWATCHED IT 12 TIMES BY NOW, pls try it
NARUTO- My first anime and pretty nice, was motivating and helped me so much.
one piece- youve already seen it lol
world trigger- i liked it because it was very different from usual shonen anime, mc isnt very strong and doesnt get strong quicly, its such a new kinda experience, i enjoyed it
steins gate: i wish i could erase my memories just to watch this again
UM tbh my taste sounds kinda boring, i like anime that motivate me and helps me in my life, but sometimes i do watch stuff for just entertainment
omg i wrote a lot, my bad
take care and recommend me some anime as welll, seeya
ps- im so sorry for the late reply, i usually log into my acc once a week
But once upon a time, I though being wasted WAS fun. Ever see the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Spicoli, who was Sean Penn's breakout role, was me in high school.
Those days are long gone though, and I don't miss them at all. How I didn't end up in prison or dead is about all the proof I need of a Higher Power.
I was a smart kid, and got away with murder in school. Too smart for my own good. I learned quick that money made the world go around, so I did what I could to earn it. I even worked shoveling horse doo-doo in a stable for about a year when I was 15 or so. I made the mistaken assumption, though, that money=freedom. Just the opposite. Money can make you its slave. It made me do lots of dumb shit in retrospect.
X-Men had a very very short run as an animated series back in the 70s. They animated Fantastic 4 as well in the late 60s, and they lasted 3 years if I remember correctly. They also did Capt. America. I think the best of that very early bunch though was Ironman. It had the best stories. Good writing.
I have a pretty big DVD collection I rarely ever watch any more. But Kill Bill is one of the few I have rewatched several times. Maybe once a year I get the itch. Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu and David Carradine are all so awesome in it. Seems I always catch something new I had missed each time I watch it, It really is a sneaky deep movie.
Yeah I have a ton of stuff on my phone with the Kindle app. Last thing I was reading was Sun Tzu's Art of War, maybe a month or so ago. Started reading it when I was in the hospital and there were no other distractions. Very, very dry reading but an interesting peak into ancient Chinese culture. I find it amazing that all the modern military academies still make this required reading. Sadly, killing each other never goes out of style.
hiii, thanks for accepting it.
im kevin, nice to meet ya
how are you?
thank you, yours looks great as well
yup true, its very nostalgic, i like that you have read claymore, was soo good i loved it.
you really love fairy tail cat characters dont ya? haha
thanks and take care
ps- tell me ur fav genre and ill recommend u some of the anime i love
When I was a kid I had like 5 paper routes. I had employees at 12. I was almost making as much as my dad each week. LOL But I had way too much money, so a lot got wasted on comics and baseball cards. If I still had them they would all be worth a fortune!
I was never much of a Superman fan. I preferred Batman. My favorite was Fantastic Four. I kind of lost interest, though, once I hit high school. Cars, drugs and girls were much more interesting, and got me into lots more trouble! Those days are far behind me now. As a matter of fact, as of today, I am 35 years clean and sober. And I had to sell my 370z. Too many tickets, but the real reason was I couldn't get in and out of it any more. 🤣 Amazing car though.
The mangas I saw were brought over here in the mid 80s by the younger Japanese engineers. They were in Japanese and I couldn't make hide nor hair out of them, They looked good though. Most of the guys didn't speak very good English but there was one who spoke decent English and was gracious enough to try and translate. But he was a very busy guy, and I didn't want to impose on him. So my foray into manga was short lived. I never saw a Japanese LN, but I've seen a couple American equivalents from many years ago. What were called graphics novels back then. One story you might be aware of, Quenton Tarrantino made into the movie Kill Bill. It was originally called The Bride. None of the others were noteworthy enough to even remember their names though.
I have stuck to anime exclusively now for many years. It's the medium that most impresses me. You have to mesh sight, and sound, characters and narrative all together and mash it all coherently in a specific timeframe. When it's done right (rarely any more) I think it's the most amazing thing ever. From watching cartoons and seeing Disney as a preschooler, to Pixar-Dreamworks stuff, to modern anime, I'm still obsessed.🤣
I know Steam, I bought a few games from there before.
I play on a PS4 and on a laptop. (Sometimes on phone too, but I don't really wanna count this thing XD). On my laptop I play both, PC and games using emulators for consoles and mobile games. I can't afford a high-end PC, but my laptop works fine with almost everything I've played on it. I just don't max the graphics and I don't really give a shit about that part, so yeah. :D
I play platformer games most of the time XD. I prefer difficult ones, thought. I also like Visual Novels which is something I got into not so long ago. Although, as long as the game I'm playing is good in my opinion, I don't really gaf about it's genre, even though I just don't play sports games and I'm not into online games that much. :D
I got you. Of course, I love animals too. I love birds, dogs, pygmy goats, chameleons and pygmy owls. my fav manga is Berserk and my fav anime too many I can't give you one or two, there are a lot! what about you? ^^
I haven't ever read a manga or LN. I worked many years as an automation engineer, working for and with Japanese engineers here in the states, I've had copies of Shonen Jump and other publications in my hand, but couldn 't make heads nor tails out of them. LOL
I could appreciate the art though. It's a completely separate media to me. It kind of seems like it would not be easy or simple to translate from a page to the screen and get it right. I guess that sums up why there are so many flop animes compared to truly good ones.
Still, my true love is animation as an art form, no matter where it comes from. I see it as the only truly modern form of art there is. It's only real bounds are how far will an imagination take you?
But I'm not too snobby about it. I still like me some flashy trashy stuff now and then.
I used to be a voracious novel reader, mostly fantasy stuff. But it's been years since I read a real book. It's difficult with my eyes now. I have a couple Terry Brooks stories I still haven't finished off having bought them years ago now. His stuff would translate well to animation. And he's written tons of material.
Heyyy! Thanks for accepting my FR. Nice to meet you!
I just checked your favorites, and I have to ask you something: Why do all your favorite characters look like pets?
Nice favorites anime and manga btw! we have a closer taste if not similar!
I've made it through something over 600 eps of One Piece. But it got so repetitive I haven't watched an episode in years, One day I might pick it up again. I do love the characters but the narrative got too sloggy to keep pushing through.
I never got into Detective Conan too much. Maybe saw 10 episodes. The characters didn't do much for me.
There have been others, I have seen all of Gintama, Dragonball and Dragonball Z. And all the original Fairy Tales, although I dumped this 100 Year Quest garbage mid season. So bad. I have seen a lot of the various Gundam series but hardly all of them. Some of the long running classics like Fist of the North Star. One day I will go back and finish Ranma 1/2.
I can't think of much lately I have made through more than a single season. Demon Slayer comes to mind. I did make it through 2 seasons of Attack on Titan, but thought the 3rd season was horrible and dropped it midseason. I saw both seasons of Vinland Saga. Adored the first, and spit on the second. So boring and pretentious. Sword Art Online was great first season. OK in the second, but the 3rd and 4th were such slop I didn't make it through either.
I'm currently watching the second season of Shangri-La Frontier. Yes, it is completely trashy video game anime, but it has vorpal bunnies. And I adore vorpal bunnies!
I am looking forward to 2nd seasons of Spice and Wolf, Frieren and Apothecary Diaries though. I have high expectations of them all. I'm forever disappointed we never got another season of Violet Evergarden.
For me it takes an extremely strong cast of characters, or fantastic production values, to make it through more than a season or two. Frankly, I haven't seen much from this millenium that fits the bill.

That's good.
As for Violet Evergarden, I find it a great and emotional anime
