But the recent episode was really amazing. I was happy to finally see that Hinata was thinking for himself during spiking, instead of just relying on Kageyama completely for accuracy. It was a great development, and I loved the comparisons to the Little Giant too. :) Nekoma is so cool! I find it funny how I can't hate any characters in this anime. xD They're all so likable, even Tsukishima and Nekoma's setter. It's a great feeling. :D
The animation is also glorious as usual, as well as the music. As you said, it's made me think of volleyball in a new way. :)
And yesh, you must watch Spice and Wolf. :D
Also, I love meeting another Shinsekai Yori fan :) Such an amazing show, although it was super weird at times.
Well then, happy birthday in some hour time.
That given, have as Happy a Birthday as you can.
I agree, Taichi is the best character in the show. And it's for that reason that I think he should not be with Chihaya. He needs someone on his level, someone who's as developed as he is, someone who he doesn't want to be better for, but wants to be better with. I can't say if I think Chihaya and Arata should be a couple since we still know so little about him, but Chihaya needs to grow as a person before deciding on either at this point.
But yeah, not an 'awful' show.
It's quite fun wathcing a large amount of the season, but it loses its appeal at times when you feel like you're picking up oh so much trash. Just gotta be discerning with what you start up, I suppose.
Luckily (or perhaps unfortunately), there's some 40+ years of anime backlog to peruse through - and then there's manga, too. So much to pursue.
Ah, first gundam grows on me all the time. Eventually, you should pick up its compilation films, which do a very good job of consolidating the core story, and updating a few elements (like having Guncannons in space rather than Guntanks.)
The manga, (currently being translated/localised), Gundam: The Origin, is an amazing readapation of 007. Fleshes things out, adds background and better political grounding, etc.
I'd highly recommend it once you're in the mood for revisiting the beginning.
Zeta is an interesting fella. It doesn't have the quiet campy charm of '79, but it has a bucketful more action and mecha. Many who prefer Zeta don't like 79 as much, and those who like 79 might not like Zeta as much.
I'll be interested to see what you think, as I'm obviously a Gundamfanatic.
Haha, it seems you've got the lingo well-down. There is nothing more for you to learn from anime now.
Mahouka is (relatively) slow - mostly because of infodumping, so I'd definitely recommend starting it up if you're worried about getting through it all. The MC... is very 'perfect stu', so it's hit-or-miss.
And sometimes, bad is good. Too good is bad. I find being in the right mood helps things along nicely.
Well, that's very reasonable of you. Generally, if you select a few premier representatives, you get a good idea of the 'average' anime genres. Of course, there's also variety with time-period, and such, but most people don't delve past the 90s except for a few iconic anime.
It can definitely be hard to get a rounded judgement on anime overall if you stick with the 'unusually good' and 'different' anime that can be easy to reccomend - the acclaimed and critic-favoured, but you don't seem to be doing that, so I'm sure you have a far better grasp of the medium's trends than you admit.
I've been working on my flattery and sophistry. Beware my lies and deceit. (No, really, you seem like a rounded (internet) person; so rare in these parts.)
It's definitely a weird range from 'bad', to watchably 'bad', and 'disappointingly mediocre'. Funny how the terrible can be sometimes easier to watch, perhaps because there was never any hope for it in the first place.
Haha, 'anime veteran expert' is an illusion. One just has to have a thoughtful mind and a small familiarity with animation - everything else is just excess knowledge gathered over time.
The OP/EDs of the show are fabulous. Good to see you're of discerning taste, as expected.
Ping Pong sort of feels like the sort of show that goes down well in doses - each episode is just that full of feeling/change that the down time is quite helpful. But marathoning is all good.
Hmm, well Jojo's new anime (2012 and the current) have been lauded by the manga readers, so it's well worth watching. Going through the manga will of course, be the original form - and it goes far beyond the anime (we're at Part 3, manga is currently going at like Part 8 or so). Tell me the OP doesn't get the blood going.
I suppose I'll reconsider Shogun then. I'd heard about the same on Matsutarou, so I'll probably enjoy that.
I'd like to counter-recommend you Ping Pong (I see it's on your PTW), as it's very good storytelling (if you can get past the artstyle/animation).
Apart from that, I'd also point out Mushishi and Jojo, but they're both sequels (which you should definitely try). Mushishi being a premier slice-of-life with amazing atmosphere/ambience, and Jojo being a flashy, over-the-top, and ridiulously good battle-anime.
Somehow, it looked really 'clean', so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like.
How's Matsutarou and DaiShogun? I've been intending to pick those up as I've a soft sport for sports and mecha.
Shinsekai yori is on my list to watch at some point, but I need to finish the animes I've started first. I'm in the mood to complete things.
Yoshimasa made some faults, which Mamoru teased him for, but he got the last card for their side.
