THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Man, I hate that king and his attitude. I'm glad that Alibaba gave him a slap to the face. About damn time. Anyways, I liked this episode especially in regards to Alibaba's speech. I'm glad he got what he came for though.

Not as good as the previous episode overall imo but still enjoyed it.

Well, Kougyoku will be away for a while when she went back to her home country.... Will miss her !!

While we see some inspiring speech and steadfast negotiation from Alibaba, I guess most people will still remember Kougyoku the most from this episode.

In Japanese forums discussion of this episode quickly became debates of whether Alibaba was making a right decision of abolishing the monarchy as the first step towards solving the country's serious problems. I wonder how it will go here.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Another great episode, just loved Alibaba's speech! Can't wait for next week.

I wonder how many episodes are left now till the end of the Balbadd arc; I'd predict about maybe 3-4 at the pace they're going.

Seriously, I just keep loving Alibaba more and more! He knew he wasn't really being logical in some of things he said, but he still pushed on hoping that Kougyoku would retreat. And I seriously laughed out loud when Alibaba slapped that damn pig of a king in the face, even if I knew it was coming. Seeing it animated was even better! I hope we get to see Aladdin next episode, even though it looks like it'll be only about Cassim and co. Man, just as you think everything is fine and dandy, someone comes and wreaks havoc.

Hm personally, I think he could have stepped up to be the king and try to work his way to creating a republic, but then again, that wouldn't have solved the problem with the slavery contract and having to marry Kougyoku. Nevermind, Alibaba did make the right decision.

Kougyoku is more than just a kawaii princess, she actually know how to hold her duty as a princess of an empire.

Lots of talk this episode but the next episode should have more actions.

Alibaba's plan is far too idealistic; I don't see how the people are convinced, if not only for the moment, and I doubt it will end well. The crisis only stalled temporarily, and are sure to resume with Cassim's movement and the response of the Kou Empire. Getting Abhmad off the throne is a good first step, but I just don't see how Alibaba will follow through. In fact, I don't expect him to do so personally, and will be looking forward to how this arc is resolved.

Political ping pong between two seventeen-years old royalties debating the future of an entire country, that's Magi for you :P Alibaba is showing a strong will power in his believes and managing to convince so many people to turn the monarchy of Balbadd into a republic is quite impressive. A sudden decision but necessary in order to annul the treaty of the transfer of human rights. He even found a loophole in the system so that Balbadd as a new entity will keep its rights and be free from the Kou empire. They even joined the Seven Seas Alliance. Brilliant! Nice play Alibaba and what an honest speech to the people. Sinbad is very proud.

Kougyoku did well but she really doesn't has a great influence on what is going to happen she can only return home for now. Good for her not having to marry that pig to Ahbmad xD

Princess Kougyoku is so cute when she blushes and starts thinking about Sinbad. xD The rukh did have a lot of screen time this episode LOL. It was pretty interesting to see that everyone was able to see the rukh since there was so much coming out.

This episode was nice. The idea of abolishing a monarchy was a sound idea as well as forging alliance. However, the political unrest from the monarchy (or Kassim loooking all pissed) seems to be a foreshadowing for something quite bad.

I absolutely love this show though. <3

I don't believe so. Although the idea of democracy and assembling the congress and houses and writing the declarations and other rulings does seem like tiring work, especially work that we can't see Alibaba doing since he seems to be rather inconsistent in how often he works for something and how often he just gives it off to someone else, I still believe that the idea itself is strong. The people of Balbadd have been pretty pissed off for a while and have gotten used to rouge lives. They're going to be vying for some sort of their own control later on anyways, even if Alibaba had appointed himself king, a rebellion would have popped up during his reign and most likely because of Kassim. But now, it seems like Kassim will be inclined to declare that he was the true leader of the Fog Troupe and then he'll try to make Alibaba out as a puppet. This is going to judge Alibaba's character in front of the people and really finalize where the country's going to go from here. Kassim's idea seems more like everyone just sacks the nobles and be rich for a while before the country falls. Also, I doubt the Kou Emperor is going to just accept all this, despite the possibility of a profit and the Seven Sea's Alliance protection the country's in. Moreover, Kassim himself is a rather shrewd man. He's already assembled people and weapons and sees through to everything whereas Alibaba just jumps up and lives in the moment. Their clashing for the next episode will most likely be physical but I hope they squeeze in a bit of political reasoning to get the people to support Alibaba. I just hope it's not some 'noble' and 'moralistic' and the 'right thing to do' crap but based more on efficiency and debates. Not that Kassim seems the type to debate really...

Our heroes would be strong enough to do that I guess, but you have to consider that the fog troupe consist of citizens of Balbadd. Who knows how many people Kassim has under him. Alibaba said he has no intention to let any human life to be lost.

I love the characters in Magi. You would normally expect the princess to be that annoying tsundere type character but she can actually hold her own and make a decent decision in the debate, she is also a very capable fighter.
I think Alibaba made a good first step for the country, which was to remove the previous king and abolish the monarchy. Next episode should be a good one.

Kassim is but a very small existence that can't touch a hair from Sinbad's head, there are way bigger fish out there to worry about.

The fact this episode was basically just dialogue was what made it good, though the derp-faces all over the place are still annoying to an extent. They adapted the political stuff well, just like what they did with the economics in previous episodes, but I'm sure I'll find next episode as bad as all the action-based episodes of this adaptation till now.

Banker and his creepiness were the highlight of the episode for me, they really handled him well (though he's still nowhere near the creepiness he had in the manga). I'm also still confused what they're doing with the masked man; is it Isnan? if not then why the hell is he wearing a mask? or who is he? Because he didn't appear in the manga. I guess we'll see soon, since 2-3 episodes are left of the arc.

Yes, this talking.
First, they come in and dethroned King "just because we can". then this second in row king cry and said he is no good to be king, then the third in row for crown said he is no good to be king. Crying and whining. In the meantime, from nowhere comes Sindbad talking about some alliance. Then Alibaba asked princess to forget all country debt and just accept that he is ending monarchy "just because I can".

But maybe i just expected too much from anime.

well ...when the kings that much of a stupid , an internal coup is bound to happen ...and thats not exactly "just because we can" but actually no body cared for king even when somebody slapped him...
second row king was really no good to be a king ..no argument there !
and why alibaba refused to be king is clearly explained , also the arrival of allience was not sudden ..it was said by sinbad 2-3 episodes earlier that alliance was coming ...and now we know why they came
and alibaba pressed princess because he anticipated her unwillingness to marry abhmad and alibaba really wanted that the descision should be changed as the country is not a monarchy anymore but he wanted that answer from higher person in charge which cannot be done at that moment...
mayb this answers your questions..

i'm really not a fan of any political topics (no matter if real life or anime) because it just bores me. but it's probably the first time now where i think that it makes a show more quality. it doesn't feel like a childish show anymore because it goes deeper than just two guys who want to start an adventure. it's about a whole country and it shows the problems of these countries and it does even describe the way they want to solve it. it's not just "let's make alibaba the new king and everything will be perfect."

really nice episode.

1- I don't see anything wrong with this. In the French Revolution, Louis XVI and his wife were sentenced to death by beheading.
The King wanted to sell their own people into slavery, is not absolutely logical that if the revolutionaries come to power, the King has forced off the throne?

2- I haven't watched the episode, but in the manga, Alibaba recognizes in thought that he was making a forced argument, and the princess didn't want to deal with the situation.

@Misiakk
Try reading the manga from the beginning, the anime is rushing things as fuck and things started becoming a mess as of recently, with skipping some things, and adding things the way they want them to be (cramming 65 chapters in 14 episodes is too much. The one responsible for such things is the one who made a mess out of Guilty Crown, and he's doing it again). The manga has a whole different feel to it, with amazing art, so give it a shot.
