Hello
Mojophobia Jan 1, 2016 6:10 PM
Ohhh, that was probably a perfect explanation of the anime haha. I had noticed it seemed far too serious for a SenBasa anime. It was created by a different company than the first two so that explains a thing or two. The style of the art was actually rather creative I thought, but it just wasn't suited for SenBasa.

The games are similar in style to the Dynasty Warriors series aren't they? I have wanted to play them for a while. I'm glad you agree that Judge End was trash. As an Basara anime fan, I also thought it was trash xD Did it follow the same story as 3?

High five for the Sengoku Basara fan!

Pretty sure those images were from art books covers, but I don't know for sure. Most of the images I get come from minitokyo.net, I find that to be the best site for finding high quality anime images.

Thank you very much! I'm pretty happy with how my list design turned out. I haven't visited your page in quite some time either. I agree with your rant on how MAL has gotten worse over the years, that's actually why I haven't been getting on here as often.

For my list design I tried to emphasize readability over everything else. I very much agree with you that visibility and navigation are extremely lacking in most people's list designs. They can make all these fancy effects and menus, but have completely forgot about the primary purpose of their list. My brother helped me with the images because he's a graphic designer and a Photoshop wizard. I did all the coding because I'm in love with programming. I didn't do anything too fancy, I just tried to keep it simple and functional since this was my first time coding in CSS.

There are a few images similar to the one I used. This is the image I used
after my brother touched it up in photoshop
, and this is what it looked like originally. Here are the other similar images I found, which could look even better if my brother reworked them: image 1, image 2.

Yes, I think you are right that the music was inspired by other cultures. The more I listen to it the more I am impressed by its unique blend of different instruments and sounds.

I can see how visualization would be an important part in immersing yourself in a fantasy world such as this. That's why I've never been much of a reader, I need the audio-visual aspect to fully connect to a story. I'm so spoiled.

I actually knew about that particular difference between the anime and the novel. On a DVD extra I remember the director saying that they decided to add Yuka and Asano to the beginning of the story because they couldn't think of any clever way to animate Yoko's inner monologues, they thought it would be more natural to have her voice her feelings to other characters instead. I never liked the character of Yuka either, or rather, I didn't like her involvement in the story. I agree that the early episodes were probably some of the weakest because of this. They made Asano's story work really well somehow, if only they had removed Yuka...

Had no idea Taiki's story in Japan wasn't a true part of the Twelve Kingdoms series. It's incredible that they would even consider animating a side story such as that, that's very cool.

Indeed, the whole cast was memorable. If I were to ever become interested in reading books, Twelve Kingdoms is the first novel I would pick up. Oh yeah, and if I remember correctly, there are four OSTs in total. The Chinese Fiddle Memories soundtrack is a real treat I must say.

Never really got into Sengoku Basara myself, but I do like that character design as well.

Glad my profile picture could help push you to watch it! Twelve Kingdoms seems to have become forgotten over the years, sadly I don't hear people talking about it very often. It's remarkable really to see how Youko grows as a person, I totally understand why you list her as a favorite character. The soundtracks are quite beautiful as well, in fact, thank you for unintentionally reminding me to write a blog about the music of Twelve Kingdoms.

I've always been curious, where does your profile picture comes from, is it anime related?

Totally agreed. LotGH holds a special place in my heart. The scale and the ambition of the show is staggering. glad you finally had a chance to finish it. And surprisingly I feel as though the 110 episodes move along quite fast despite being a tad melodramatic at times. They paced it quite well.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
