Tbh, I'd react in a a similar way as Akira if I was confronted by some guy who wants to "save the world". This has a mixture of fantasy and isekai. Cast has more male characters than the usual though and there's a variety of them. I'd like to also know more about Akira and her character but it's just the first episode for now. Much more curious on how they plan to develop the story in that magical world. |

Yelp, coly's mobage game reeks too much of the Ikemen Otome Game feature (that fans of the game will like), that's Liden Films back at it with yet another game adaptation. Why is Mili's OP so damn good, and HoneyWorks's LIP X LIP's ED in this affair only cements as much. A conspicuous Isekai at first glance, the girl of Akira Masaki finding herself transported by Murr to the Western Country of the world of wizards and magic, to then be pronounced as the Great Sage and welcomed to the Central Country, the wizards being at war with the Ministry of Magic with Drummond at the helm after losing their footing, as such with their Master Faust gravely injured and needing Akira's help, whizzing her away in their brooms, this life's journey is about to change for Akira. The riff of the Ministry of Magic and the wizards, setting off a flurry of who can claim Akira first. It's the expected meh for the usual Otome Game mobage to anime experience (which have been gone for a reason) but will at least give this a shot. |

As a person who plays Mahoutsukai no Yakusoku since its release (it's been 5 years!) I must say that I'm pleased with the first episode! I have high hopes for this since the game's story and lore is so deep and well written! It makes me curious how will they show all of this in the anime~ The opening is breathtaking (both visually and musically); it fits with the premise and world of MahoYaku so much! Every song Mili made for this game is a banger after banger (yup, she made LOTS of songs for this project!) so hearing her making the OP sent me to heavens! The ED by LIPxLIP is also nice and it fits MahoYaku too in my opinion although I think the OP sounds a little bit better for me. I can't wait for what else will happen in the anime and how will they lead it... <3 I love Akira so much, both in game and in the 1st episode; she's a great MC/protagonist in game so I hope they make her justice! You can make enjoyable anime like that also with reverse harem and bi-sexuality like "My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom!" but this is just bad... I don't feel mc, start is original and i thought that it could be good but when i saw these mages, reverse harem, mc with no character (Ok she could be shy or smth but guys please) and sparking glitter everyone it was just "No, it's just trash". |

Ok so if those wizards are metaphor for cats, could this anime be a cat lady's fantasy? That also explain why the wizards obey her since she feed them everyday. And one wizard seems to have a power similar to catnip. And another one just transform the old guy into a rat. But on a serious side, this seems like a combination of Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle and the Cat Returns, so obviously it's gonna aim at female audience, but I can watch it for fun! |

This seems like it'll be a fun show with a great cast of characters! Although I only counted four different colors of flower petals when she said there were seven :P That's kind of a simple and silly mistake, but hopefully there's no more glaring issues like that in the rest of the show Also, I laughed out loud when the one guy said his name was "Cock". I hope there will be more ridiculously named characters in the rest of the show! |

Stayed for the OP. Left when the episode started. Screamed "I am an ad for a mobile dating game". Looked up the band behind the OP. Another disappointment. This was their good song. The others not so good :(. Saved song :3. I rarely listen to OPs or EDs. This song was good ^_^. Last two shows that made me listen to the OP/ED were Scum's Wish and Erased because Sayuri ;D. No, I don't watch My Hero Academia :p. |

@Amerisch Well, it's definitely not anime for everyone but I wouldn't say it's a reverse harem. The characters don't feel romantic attraction to the protagonist, they treat them as their supervisor; she is someone who can save them so I believe they admire her and have big expectations of her as a Great Sage. It's pains so much to see so many people mistake it as a reverse harem. (◞‸◟;) |

I really think AI could read protag lines with more emotions. And it won't be "closet studio" quality either. And if you add very eloquent style of those lines and sheer stupidity of reactions and behavior. Then the only question would stay: why would anyone spend money for poor CM of own game? |

We hardly got to know anything at all about Akira in our World, before they abducted her to their World. Well, at least the Wizards are honest about that part. The humans were out & out jerks, at least the commander was. Lot of action, and developing some of the Wizard characters. I didn't dislike it, but neither am I sold yet. I'll need to see if it can get better or hook me with a story that can be engaging. |

Will give it another shot for ep2 but definitely the weakest release I've seen so far, this season. Writing/dialogue feels mediocre at best and dedicating 10 minutes to endless dialogue in a stairwell with near zero background art was a decision. Not a great move to fill the first episode with a bunch of exposition and tell-dont-show rambling, instead of a hook. Hopefully it picks up down the line, but so far, pretty disappointing. |

Doesn’t get more joseimuke than an episode opening with a woman feeding her cats before getting spirited away to a fantasy harem of hot guys lol. Heard a lot of good things about the writing of the game this is based on, seems like an interesting world so far! Akira is pretty! Curious about the discrimination that wizards face. Pretty fucked up if Drummond was really sent there to tarnish the wizards name after they have fought so hard to protect the world? Certainly wouldn’t be a first in anime though Cock Robin is absolutely absurd for a name tho lmao |

Very normal first episode Protagonist being summoned to another world where she has to save this world, but this one has "magicians", they defend the kingdom every year, but this year they couldn't, and lost many allies... so to save them she invokes the "great thrush" (protagonist) Well, it's a very common beginning, very present in anime nowadays, and it looks like this one will be no different. |

If you are not a fan of the series already this is a solid 1. Horrible pacing, horrible animation, they just let Faust die in the sage's manor the whole episode. Akira is not an interesting protag. Right now, she is just there. The backgrounds are actually so bad. Like it looked like they were in the inside of a christmas ornament. THere was no spice to any of the character designs or any of the anything here. IMO, MHYK is not known for an incredible art direction, but some effort would've been nice. The music sounds like it came from a stock library. Entirely too much glitter. If you would like to get into this series, just go to the wiki and find the links to fan translations of the game (as it isn't out in english.) They do a much better job at telling the story. Or, if you'd like a deeper artistic interpretation of wizards, watch Howl's Moving Castle and pretend there's 20 of that dude. If you are a fan 10/10 anime of the year hasthtag eastern kingdom slay hastagh ozfig slay |

As a fan of the source material, it's not. the best introduction episode ever, but it's also pretty decent (I kept my expectations as low as possible to not disappoint myself haha). Actually, as someone who was incredibly excited for mahoyaku to finally get an anime, I'm the most disappointed about its reception---criticism or disinterest is extremely fair, but there are a lot of misconceptions floating around which is. painful..... because this really is such an incredibly written series with so much heart and passion ;A; I think what's bothering me the most is that a lot of people don't realize that the original game has both a male MC and a female one! Some of the other mahoyaku adaptations (stage play, manga) actually have male Akira as the canon MC :D Still, I totally get this is definitely a series that may not be everyone's cup of tea, so I'm just yelling pointlessly at the moon here (ha...ha......aha......a....) but if you're on the fence bc it feels like a reverse harem isekai......it's not really. I mean, there will always be ~implications~ with certain characters bc it's a joseimuke game, after all. But if the anime doesn't interest you but the lore does and you don't wanna read translations of the game, here is the manga which has male Akira as the MC, and mahosute is, outside of the game, The Way Mahoyaku Should Be Experienced, and in this essay, I will - |

Not familiar with the game but the first episode felt really fun (if slightly limited by budget) and I'm looking forward to the rest of the character introductions! Ep 1 - 8/10 : There is a flower pot, which is rare these days, but so far she doesn't seem boring. The story and characters are classic for the genre, but it's visually neat, the scene with the petals was very beautiful. I don't like the opening but the ending is nice. I'm already weak for Shylock, but his voice has a lot to do with it. |

@briar826 I mean I wouldn't say the studio is bad or anything since they made some quite popular anime! But yeah, I doubt it's the lack of budget but we will never know what goes in the Coly's headquarters! Yah, I think I will get better, especially when we get more into the main story; I think the anime will cover like a half of 1st chapter of main story from the game but let's just wait and see! <3 |

i was really excited for this anime since i'm a very long-time fan of idolish7 and bunta's work, and especially his impeccably deep character writing. i always found his fantasy writing for i7 events intriguing but limited because of the length, so i'm really looking forward to seeing a much more extended version of that with completely new characters to love!! my first impression of this initial episode is.... it's ok. as far as introductions it feels somewhat heavy-handed with characters clumsily explaining things the people around them should already know as if they're aware an outsider is watching from beyond a screen. obviously it's for the sake of the audience being given context, but i've always been kind of impatient with that kind of exposition. i think there are smoother, more natural ways of explaining worldbuilding. but i still have a lot of hope, especially with how much i trust bunta as a writer. i'm sure as the story is given room to breathe it will only get better. the animation & backgrounds also feel kind of stiff and static with some exceptions. i've definitely seen worse, but i don't believe this anime has that small of a budget, so idk. the scenes just standing in the tower and walking glacially slow down the stairs were a choice. i appreciate akira's androgyny. i was really pleased that apparently in the game the mc has no canon gender, which emphasizes that romance is not the goal of this series. i am a lover of romance, but i think the subversion of genre expectations will make her relationships with the wizards feel only that much deeper :) anyway erm hope everybuddy has a great day 💖 peace and love |

Seems like a fun show with a group of entertaining guy wizard characters. I like all their different personas so far, and the fun-romance vibe to it while still staying sweet/PG. Even though it's apparently based on a game, it seems an interesting watch (so shame it seems to be instantly down-voted) but will watch more and see! |

The first episode delivers a visually enchanting world and introduces intriguing characters, but it doesn’t fully break away from familiar fantasy tropes. While it’s a solid start, the pacing and predictability hold it back from being truly captivating. If you’re a fan of magical adventures, it’s worth giving a shot—just know it might take a couple of episodes to fully find its stride. |

The Great Sage's Power is Omnipotent... was enough josei reverse-harem to last me a lifetime... i'm gonna leave this one alone till i've got absolutely nothing else to watch and try the 2nd and maybe the 3rd episode to make 100% sure. |

Obviously, this is just a pleasure anime for people who want to watch hot guys, which I think is totally fine because there are tons of anime that are just about hot girls and don't really have much substance either. Problem with all harem anime is that it's like a scattershot method, and I had absolutely no interest in any of the wizards this episode. Some of the ones in the opening caught my eye though so I'll just watch to see how they are. |

The source material id philosophical and plain wonderful. Besides, almost every Mahoyaku fan loves Akira, which is rare for a joseimuke game. It has the same author as IDOLiSH7 if you have ever heard of it. It’s just great. |
