I would put it under the Action, Magic & Sci-Fi genre.

I think this series is a bit underrated, but I don’t really care :p

The plot is set in a world where supernatural abilities exist. It takes place in academy city. A city with 2.3 million people where most of the people are students with some of them having special abilities the so called espers.

Index is about Tōma Kamijō, a young high school student in Academy City who has an unusual ability, as he encounters an English nun named Index. His ability and relationship with Index proves dangerous to other magicians and espers who want to discover the secrets behind him, Index as well as the city.

Railgun is about the adventures mikoto and her friends experience. mikoto is first seen in the index series as nemesis of toma. She can’t win from him because he has this special ability who negates all abilities. She is clearly stronger and thinks that toma doesn't take her serious.

Thank you :D Her name is mikoto misaka, my all-time favorite anime character. she's from the toaru series: Toaru Majutsu no Index & Toaru Kagaku no Railgun plus both second seasons. Railgun is actually a spin off the main series index and features Mikoto and her friends as protagonists. I don’t know if you’ll like it but you should check it out and give it a try :p
