While Lawrence is out there doing business, Holo is taking her beauty sleep. Classy.

Tense episode from Lawrence's side but it goes to show his wit and intelligence again. Lawrence and Holo's relationship dynamics still remains relevant and interesting with their various small talks. Truly, I believe this season adapted them really well and always made me invested into their relationship. Holo's behavior also continues to blend a boundary between human and animal.

You know, if you’re curious and wanna gather information about an area, asking people around in a bar is the most ideal and safest way lol. I mean with how unfiltered people become after drinking, nobody would see the intention with a sceptical lens. By the way, makes sense why those people in town and that church girl make those kinds of faces whenever someone asks something about the village church.

As a church in a village which serves a pagan god is as strange as it sounds. I would give it to Lawrence btw, man was, and is doing, everything to get anything out of these villagers and even Evan when it comes down to those documents and the abbey he’s after. They would find everything eventually, I mean love the determination Lawrence has, which Holo approves of xD

Ah yes, the wise wolf's biggest enemy she's faced up til now. Something so powerful that it could make someone "who has been drunk for a hundred years sober". Berries..... LOL.

It's nice to know that nor matter how hard the path may be, Lawrence will stick with Holo through this journey across this bridge. Holo clearly liked him saying that, with her teasing manner on Lawrence lols.

Another week not being married to holo sigh. Really interesting episode though.

Remember folks if you wanna learn the truth, get someone drunk. Last week Lawrence couldn’t get anything out of the townspeople but going to a pub and doing a bit of social engineering got him on the right path.

It’s cool to see a pagan town and the tensions that exist in this world between the church and pagans. The snake deity in Tereo is also interesting. So far we’ve only seen Holo, the other wolf from the end of the first cour and the alchemist who was a bird goddess, but it seems there’s a lot of variety in the deities of this world. It kinda makes me want to know more about the history of the church and these gods’ relationship.

I really feel for Holo wanting to just hear ANY news from Yoitsu or stories about her home. It drives home just how isolated she’s been for so long.. that said, idk how he didn’t fold today. With Holo looking at me like that there’s no way I’m resisting

This town’s pretty interesting, hopefully we get to see more of Elsa and learn about Yoitsu next week.

I suspect that Holo has some fox/vixen blood. She is definitely crafty and flirtatious beyond Wise Wolf level.

Lawrence and Holo can integrate into any community, and Tereo is no different in that regard, being dunked on alcohol and governed by Lord Truyeo, the snake god. And one of the dungeons that was in the partway between Tereo and Enberch is at the discretion of the latter's Church, to pay for heavy punitive taxes on top of that, Lawrence definitely learnt a lot of the confict between both towins, though his role is just to be merry wherever he goes as a traveling merchant.

Another morning, and Tereo is still the same laid-back nature as it is, aside from the "miracles" of the Church, and Lawrence still has to find information on the abbey...by seeking Evan, since he has relations with Elsa. It's a mutual exchange between both Tereo and Enberch for their business trade, though Lawrence doesn't lose track trying to reap any info out of Evan in the slightest way possible. The inscription that the village church IS the abbey, despite its people now worshiping a pagan god that wasn't the case with Franz in the past, it all diverges with Tereo's church and Enberch, and the unkempt relationship behind it that all adds up to a dangerous endeavour. Holo is the same, wanting to know stories of the pagan gods, even if it meant a story about her Yoitsu hometown.

This dangerous encounter, Holo wants to endure it with Lawrence, and it's quite the gamble entering unknown territory this time.
What secrets will be learnt in this dangerous village?

A lot of exposition and explanations this week.
We now understand that the village is (and was) in conflict with the bigger town that we saw in the first episode of this arc.
It seems both religious and financial/trade reasons are at the root of the conflict.
We do not know the details yet, other than the former church's head being the reason of the favorable position the village is currently in.
Elsa position on the other hand seems unfortunately precarious, as a woman leading a church is frowned upon by some.

Some cute moments, like when Evan explains that Elsa tells him how many time times she sneezes a day haha, they're clearly very close.
Holo and Lawrence do have the possibility to just leave and avoid the potential problems looming on the horizon, but Lawrence accepts to stay, for Holo, and that's very adorable.

Decent episode.

Damn. Tereo Village does sound like it's trouble. It's too bad Holo and Lawrence have business there. Otherwise, they'd have no good reason to stay there.

If Father Franz is the head of the abbey then how would Holo get more information about Yoitsu? He's dead. Unless he left behind writings of pagan stories it doesn't sound like staying in Tereo village would be very useful.

Lawrence's detective work really shines in this episode. He could figure out so many things and explain them so clearly. I really wonder what's Holo's plan tho. It has to be something interesting.

Would like to see more of Elsa and Evan being close. They seem like a cute couple.

Drinking with the locals is always the best ways of forging bonds and getting intel. Sour food are the perfect cures for being drunk. Being a tax collector must had been a unique exp for Lawrence. Still thats quite the deal they have with Enberch. Looks like this village is in quite the precarious situation though. Curious to see what Lawrence would do to find the truth.

@LordCrueltyV I still remember being pissed realizing Holo wasn't a fox. It's in the title, but even now I'm kind of in denial and see her more as a fox rather than a wolf, even when it comes to her animal form. :D

As every episode of this series it was amazing. The cuteness of holo and the seriousness of Lawrence realising what is happening in the village was awesome. I hope we get more scenes with the miller and church girl I'm next episode, and the confrontation of Holo and the snake god.

Maybe Holo is going to confer with a snake spirit? They are commonly fertility gods.

This Tereo village has turned out to be very intriguing, while at the same time being a dangerous place to stick around with all that Lawrence learned in this episode. And I really gotta give it to Lawrence too, I definitely had some ideas but I didn’t fit together the pieces of the puzzle as well as he did, he pretty much figured out what’s up with the abbey that no one wants to talk about, and why Elsa had a stick up her ass when they first met, as well as why she’s in a better mood now, he really got a lot out of those drunk villagers and Evan who was just talkative on his own lol.

It’s also very cool that the pagan god this village worships is a snake god, and the situation regarding the cave and a curse associated with it is really giving me Higurashi vibes, kinda like I mentioned last week with the RE4 vibes just from the look and location of the village, but once again I know this probably won’t go the spooky route as cool as that would be. And I was thinking “okay, they worship a snake, but that stuff about it making a cave is BS right?” but then i remembered Holo is a god and we’ve seen another massive wolf before, we may see a giant snake Harry Potter style before this is over lol. And now the question is do they hightail it out of there, or stick around to uncover those stories? Well Holo made a pretty convincing argument Lawrence couldn’t refuse at the end lol, so I’m looking forward to seeing how this situation progresses.

Gathering intel was Lawrence's top priority and that was made rather easy simply by joining the local villagers in the tavern and enjoying a nice meal and plenty of beers. It was a pretty fun atmosphere to be in, seeing everyone having a good time conversing with each other and also learning about the tavern lady's origin story of her brewing skills.

The main thing to take here was the village having a somewhat tense relationship with the larger town, Enberch, and their church. Another thing to take note of was the local village deity being a snake, which was rather interesting to learn about.

I enjoyed the talk that Lawrence and Evan had, where he happily talked about Elsa and how he stayed with her at the church due to how cold it gets during the Winter as well as her personality being a bit all over the place, although he does emphasize that she's a nice lady at heart.

Lawrence and Holo's talk at the end of the episode about whether to risk taking the "dangerous path" shows the difficulty of what awaits them, but it's nice to see Lawrence showing conviction in wanting to help Holo in anyway that he can. They might've chosen the risky path, but I do hope that this pays off for them in learning more about the village amongst other things.

Great episode overall today. =)

This village is shrouded in secrecy which Lawrence must wade through to get answers about the Abbey him and Holo seek. Both the village head and Elsa shrugging off his questions but not convincingly. Lawrence could tell immediately that they were hiding things. Going to that tavern might seem like straight up leisure but Lawrence did the smart thing of interacting with the villagers in a common setting. Casually speaking with them about what's going on here, stumbling upon the god they follow which is a snake god. Hence all the snake decorations at the village head house. Its very odd for a village so close to a big town that has a heavy church presence to not he affiliated with the church themselves. Lawrence is right to be suspicious about the people here. Learning from Evan that the reason why Elsa was so standoffish was because she was anxious about certain news coming through. For which she seemingly just got the results she wanted and feels better. Lawrence having seen Evan seeking out of the church early morning as Elsa looked happy. Perhaps those two are closer than it seems. Lawrence conversation with Holo at the end of the episode was tough, he's right that they should leave because if the church decides to attack this village for being pagans they'd be in great danger. Which could happen at any time. Holo however doesn't quite want to give up just yet and I don't blame her being this close to learning about either her hometown or the bear which destroyed it. She's got a risky play to try before they run just yet.

An interesting episode with several intriguing unknowns. Tereo appears to be a village caught in a significant conflict with the Church of Enberch, and it seems Elsa is carrying a heavy burden following the death of Father Franz. I wonder what kind of pact she made exactly. Additionally, this village is intriguing because it does not believe in the church and has its own pagan god. I suspect that Evan might have some kind of connection with Elsa, which could cause them trouble with the church.

With only a few episodes left before this anime concludes, I just hope they announce a second season.

Loved that bar scene in the beginning! And it just goes to show just how much of a drinker Holo really is! πŸ˜‚ and I understand what that one guy was saying to Lawrence, but let’s face it, nobody could beat Holo in a drinking contest! 🀣 not in this series anyway.

Interesting backstory for this village. They worship a pagan snake God, and even the local church deals with pagan documents. Maybe that’s the reason why the church in the other village and this village don’t get along?

And just when it looked like that Holo was going to give up, Lawrence reassured her, and after they cut to black and came back, the plan for whatever they’re going to do was laid out. And I would expect that we see some of what that was about next episode.

Lots of exposition here in this episode, some interesting and some boring enough to slow the pace down significantly for me. Felt like a real drag at times. At least the setting itself and the politics involved with the town here does give the arc something different and positive to potentially look forward to if well done and entertaining to watch.

Unlike the cities they had visited before, in Tereo, the villagers were shocked when they heard Lawrence mention God—they worship a snake god. There, it appears the Church isn't respected. Then, what about Father Franz? We can clearly see that the whole village also considers him as someone who has done a lot of good. But still, he's connected to the Church...
