| This is an anime and not a hentai... right? Mao breaks their agreement not to consider Hisashi as a romantic interest and confesses his feelings to him. Hisashi, having just broken up with his boyfriend, decides to confront his feelings for Mao. On the day of the film club’s shoot, Mao is so shaken by a kissing scene involving Hisashi that he falls. As Kotobuki accompanies him to the infirmary, Mao's true feelings pour out in front of the camera Hisashi holds. That's the first of the four manga's done... onto the next. |

| It felt a bit like when you watch the clean version of scenes from like Nu Carnival. Like you know there’s supposed to be more but you just hear the gist. So it was a bit awkward, but cute. |

Mao is Husk In a lot of eromanga the MC is supposed to serve as a reader insert and as a result, these main characters are often super plain. That's what I'm getting from Mao. When I consume a TV BL anime I want both halves of the couple to be interesting as standalone characters. I feel like if we took Hisashi away from Mao he'd stand still and start walking into walls like an NPC. Mao being a husk would work just fine if this was a hentai, but again, this is a TV anime... It just doesn't translate well in my opinion. Remind me why they didn't just make this hentai?? We're starved for yaoi porn anyway. 2. Speedrun "development" I saw a comment on a previous episode's discussion calling their relationship a speedrun and tbh it is. Episode 1 - feelings realisation Episode 2 - confession & kissing Episode 3 - sexo!?! This happens in a lot of eromanga as people are reading for sex. This doesn't happen in a lot of TV anime as people are watching to see the relationship develop. Again, the eromanga pacing for relationship development doesn't work in a sexless TV anime like this. The sex scene felt completely unearned. A sex scene should usually be either erotic (which this couldn't be as it's a TV anime) or emotional (which this wasn't because it's only episode 3 and our MC is a husk) I'll continue watching because I'm a sick fujo who wants to see boys kiss but I probably won't give this a very high score if it continues like this. Hopefully something game-changing will happen soon. Anyway, onto more positive commentary. I really loved some of the stills in this. A majority of the shots from the previous episode focused on showing just how pretty Hisashi is but mao really had his moment here. He looked so gorgeous with that small blush dusting his face, his pretty collar bones and slightly messy hair in the sunlight...... I also loved how the curtains around the infirmary bed did that "anime classroom kiss" thing. Made me chuckle. I actually really agree with a lot of this. I will just interject that the “speedrun” effect comes from this being 1:1 with the manga and it adapting a single volume manga. When you only have 5 chapters, things have to move fast and that’s what we’re seeing here. There are 4 volumes being adapted, but two are spinoffs and one is a combination of the 3. This volume that just finished this episode is supposed to tell their whole story up to this point in one manga volume so it goes really fast, which is common in single volume BL manga. I actually think the anime should have gone anime original and added a few scenes to make it feel smoother, but I also can’t knock a 1:1 adaptation. I also feel like the anime does Mao dirty. His words carry more weight in the manga and I feel like he’s more 3 dimensional. That’s just my two cents though. |

| I honestly got goosebumps when Mao said the things Hisashi did in detail T___T I felt something in my stomach like, wow. But seriously I think the scene by scene is well made, although there are some that are just drawings and if I remember correctly, some are slightly different from the manga panels but overall it's good and beautiful to look at. I have no complaints at all. And I really like Hisashi's voice it's so soft and fits Hisashi's persona perfectly... especially when he asked "is your body okay? does anything hurt?" it's like aaahh this is the Hisashi I imagined, hoped and wanted! That tasogare out focus scene was beautiful as well. Thank you so much for this episode... has been done so well... :"3 |

| It's unfortunate that majority of anime & romance anime have to involve high schoolers. I get 16 is the age of consent in Japan (was 13) but gets in the way of my loving this so much. I try to not let is get in the way too much, I know many teenagers have sex and doesn't change how romantic and consensual this is. I know when my daughter (17) told me she had sex with coworker (18m) I just tried to make sure she was 1. okay, 2. had treatments available if needed (told her prior), 3. that I preferred she didn't (told her prior), 4. that it's legal where we are (Kentucky age of consent is 16, then like 17 if with 25 year old, the 18.) ๏ปฟ ๏ปฟIt's interesting he only tells truth on camera, but kind of makes sense. If you lied on camera, now your lie got recorded. I am really happy with this, they are still acting and he's still recording, with possible change of ending to movie as blonde's was more uplifting. ๏ปฟ ๏ปฟ4/5, love it, but so thrown off by age. Otherwise sex scene was handled really well and adorably <3 ๏ปฟ ๏ปฟNow the question is, how will it go moving forward. I'm scared for possible foreshadowing that movie ending is same as their ending :'( edit: WHAT DEMON SPAWN IS IN THE ABOVE PICTURE?! IS THAT THE FINAL BOSS?! |

| The way they potrayed the sex scene in this anime is so beautiful, don't think I've seen anything like it! Really enjoying it so far, I just wonder what the next episodes will be about :'D |
| From Hisashi to Mao, now it's the latter who feels like his head is in the clouds with the shoot underway, who even tripped up on a shoot which forces him to recover. And the reason is simple: acting with a fellow Senpai causes Mao to get all jealous of Hisashi sharing a kiss with him, and the latter got his wish and more, to the point of having sex to alleviate his feelings. The anime has to be toned down against the rather rough percepts of the manga for obvious reasons. Going back to the shoot, both Mao and Hisashi want not just their film to succeed, but their relationship as well. And even by the cusp of the film club's president who feels like he has a lot of negative preception, the others feel optimistic to see the film to completion. For the 1st of 5 manga, the anime does an admirable job in its adaptation. It's NOT an animation error, the manga literally has this panel like that. |

| The confession and kiss scene in the infirmary was sooo cute. Well they surely move fast huh. But the scene itself was rather artistic, I'm guessing it was made this way to censor it. But I can't even be mad if that's the case. |

| @Ayunee Kyyaaah! I honestly love it so much! It is so sweet, the way Hisashi kept asking if Mao felt any discomfort or pain after D': I know everyone's saying things are progressing at breakneck speed, yet I find it so realistic. Sorry to break it to y'all, but it's more likely to happen irl that ppl who like each other and are incredibly attracted to each other jump into bed this soon, rather than wait upward of 2 years to finally pop them cherries (well, one cherry, in this case). I enjoy sweet & wholesome Boys' Life stories as much as the next girl, but this just satisfies me on a deep level. They've been rooming for over a year, Mao voices how much he enjoys their 'see you later's and 'welcome back's at the very beginning of episode 1, boy is so down bad he gives himself a concussion out of jealousy. And when they have sex he clearly has a blast, it's like his third eye has opened, and he's mushy af the next day as soon as he wakes up. You love to see it, I love it for them! |

| I haven't read the manga, so I obviously don't know what happens next. But my thinking so far is "if by episode 2 they confessed to each other and by episode 3 had sex, what's going to happen in the remaining 9?" Will definitely be interesting to see how the story continues. |

| @Lapiz_Shadow I don't mean to be too blunt, but Hisashi has been... fooling around with that teacher for something like two years. I'm sure he has... supplies : ) Mao's impulse to commit everything beautiful and important to film reminds me of Eiji, actually. They both wish to immortalize fleeting moments and the people they love via a camera lens. The only difference is one prefers still photography and the other favors motion picture. |
