Damn, they can't have a season finale in peace. Gets attacked by gargoyles but Marcille refuses to give in. Gotta respect her determination but also how the party came together like a family.

They still got their food treat after all. We also got more story lore in this finale too. Well, whatever the case, this episode had its usualy storytelling style not different from other episodes. Still very enjoyable imo.

Season 2 Announced!

Chilchuck with his height and that voice just can’t be taken seriously, however and whatever you do. Though being the last episode it was, the adventure with these changed forms ended up being even more tough than it usually does lol. Though I loved how they used changeling which was responsible for their current state.. to come out of this dire state lol.

And you know, in the end you only do need to make a ring resembling changelings, and it does things on its own. Still Marcelle would never forget how she was taken advantage of her size lmao. But again, we kind of laid the foundation for the things to come, which in a sense has a lot to tell. I mean the goal still remains the same… the resurrection of Falin.

Series in itself was the perfect adaptation of manga, I mean Trigger being the ones in charge, of course it’d be. Loved it, but again, there’s a lot to come and a LOT of eating to be done.

What the hell Laios, were you seriously going to leave your sword dude covered in mushrooms...???

Laios and the gang found themselves transformed into different races under the influence of changelings. Struggling to revert to their original forms, they pressed on through the dungeon in their unfamiliar bodies. Chilchuck questioned why changelings, known for their ability to mimic other races, were not available in markets. Meanwhile, they were ambushed by gargoyles. Later, they found and boarded an automated trolley within the dungeon. During the journey, Laios opened up about his and Falin's shared history. Subsequently, the group brainstormed a plan to purge the Red Dragon's soul from Falin.

Chilchuck does bring up a good point about selling the changelings. Though even without the side effects it might bring, idk if I would want them, especially if I were an elf, because, you know, it takes away that defining characteristic of elves—the ears. It looks like they used the whole budget of the episode on Marcille and how silly the gang used her in the fight... lol, poor Marcille. But it looks like Mr. Pee Statue worked, and we're back to normal... I wish we had a bit more of sexy Senshi. Am glad that we got some more info on Falin one last time, even if it led to talking about food in typical Dungeon Meshi fashion lol.

It's been a journey these past 24 weeks... though we've barely scratched the surface of this story, with half of it left to go.

I have no doubt this will get a season two, as if the to be continued wasn't obvious enough. We'll get an announcement at AX in the coming weeks, so see you then. As a matter of fact, we already did lol

Laios and the party still having to travel in their new forms, it's taking a toll on them because of the different lifespans. Even Marcille is not levy to the half-foot age, but the changeling mushrooms really DID turn them for the worse. Laios's idea to render the mad mage down and save Falin, it's not going to work out that easy if she retains her half-dragon form...if not for the changeling mushrooms that could help tone her down, as well as Laios being motivationally delusional about wanting to turn into something else.

Too bad that in the midst of their conversation, the gargoyles caught onto them...and handling Kensuke with the surprise that its holder weirds those mushrooms, they actually have a chance of turning the Gargoyles the same way.,,and they did it, turning one into a coin statue, and the other will not be fooled the same way...by bringing the circle to it. The other gargoyle turning into a boy pissing statue, having those that water to turn them back to normal, what a turnaround lols.

Even in his Bishounen elf form, Senshi delivers his cooking the same way to cook dumplings, and finding that the gargoyle statue also acts as a changeling ring, it actually works in their favour, and thankfully, consuming the dumplings turns everyone back to normal.

Continuing on, the dungeon journey which has been laid out for Laios, taking Falin into the dungeon may not have been the brightest decision, but given their upbringing, Laios always took care of his shunned sister (until Marcille came along), and that says the story for their involvement in the dungeon. Things escalate, and both Laios and Marcille found themselves being hurt by Falin's loss, and Senshi comparing her to bacon and eggs with Izutsumi, it does sound like there's a way to turn her back into a human form. Unfortunately, the red dragon meat was lost, and Laios...is always thinking of eating meat, even if it had to be Falin's. Eating 1kg a day sounds ridiculous, so they defintely need help to consume the huge chunk, and that calls for the plan to eradicate the mad mage and get Falin back.

We're officially halfway through the manga adaptation, and the rescue of Falin is just beginning.

Season 2 is coming soon!

The transformation was fun while it lasted but it's back to their normal race now.

Senshi using the egg to describe souls and Falin, Izutsumi was neat. Very easy to understand while staying true to the theme of the anime.

So how do they save Falin? You have to eat her, yep. She do be thicc and delicious, good food. Laios already preparing the menus even, good bro. Their backstory was emotional. Marcille even started crying. Small Falin so adorable btw.

The elves enter the dungeon while our party prepare to eat and with that the first season of dungeon meshi ends.

A spectacular adaptation by trigger. Love the manga, one of my favourites and was excited for the adaptation and had a very enjoyable time watching it. Great first season and the anime just got into the great parts so expect s2 to be even better. Looking forward to it. So happy we got s2 announcement with the end of the season.

The finale was decent. Not the best this show offered nor the most memorable conclusion, but served as an effective enough of a stopgap point till that new season takes place.

I will say though, given how I wasn't a fan of the start and the artstyle didn't click at all for me compared to some of my favorite stuff from Trigger (despite me always liking how the world is), the anime did improve a lot more than I expected and while some episodes weren't as interesting to me as others, the world building, the efforts and consistency that Trigger put with this manga adaptation and the actual adaptation quality itself was impressive. I feel like given the start being a bit average with me not just liking the concept of the food comedy being present a lot at the beginning and some episodes having me feel indifferent to it, can't give it a super high rating. But given how this show went from a show I didn't care for much, to something I managed to enjoy with great effort put into it, a solid enough main cast that did grow on me a bit (supporting characters weren't the best for me) and one of the better world building explorations I've seen in besides Made in Abyss, Mushoku Tensei and a few others, can only feel pleased with how my opinions somewhat turned around with this anime.

Probably going with a 7 for the time being. Second season has a lot of promise.

This is the last episode of the season, glad it ended on a good point where it resolved the plot point of changeling.

It is easily the best new anime of 2024 for me. Now, I have to rewatch it because it's one of those series which is actually better when you binge it.

The final episode of the season felt like a normal Dungeon Meshi episode.
But now we have a goal for season 2: Eat Falin to save Falin! (That doesn't sound right 🤔)

In any case, Dungeon Meshi was my favorite anime of this season!
The world felt alive, like a realistic ecosystem where everything has a purpose and monsters are not the way they are just because they look cool, but it's the result of the evolution of their species to fit the environment of the dungeon and the ambient mana that alows for them to be bigger and wilder.
We knew that the crew would eventually find the Dragon and could find Falin dead, but we were hopeful.
We were led to believe that this is a happy cooking show where no one dies and if they did, they could be easily revived.
Yet little did we know that there is a fate worse than death.
And the worst part is the party could have let her pass on, but they are the ones who chose this fate for her.
There may be no way to save Falin now, but that doesn't mean they cannot try.
Whether it's beating the Magician, requesting help from Winged Lion or eating her dragon parts, something could save her.
And they won't lean if it's possible until they find them and test their theories.
Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst!

Like Solo Leveling I had high expectations because of the high score and many people saying it was great but for me it was kinda disappointing.
Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I watched weekly since I felt the formulaic episodes get old really fast.
Nice characters and animation tho.

On the party fairy circle sequence. Senshin's design felt strangely nostalgic for some reason.

Senshi was defeated by Izutsumi's food pickiness.

Continue the conversation about each ones past.

Begin to trace a plan.

And suddenly the end of the season.

Rarely give anime 10s, especially the new ones, but this one exceed any expectations. I've had so much fun watching it. It's clear how much passion director and team had for the source material, and I wish it happened more often. Dunno what's people yapping about, this show is as perfect as anime can possibly get and even more. And I don't even like cooking shows

Nice episode, glad s2 got announced.

2024 is pretty weak in term of new anime. I'm glad atleast this series was there to entertain me. The fantasy genre is polluted by isekai series, so getting this series and frieren adapted definitely save fantasy genre for me, which I thought was becoming one of the worse anime genre. There are many good fantasy source material waiting to be adapted hope they get the same kind of treatment like those two.

Also, I hope season 2 also maintain the same quality of production because this is just get's crazier and crazier. So far, We have only seen tip of the iceberg.

Last episode of season 1.

Overall, this anime is a pleasant surprise. I thought when I first started watching it, it is only a light story about cooking in a dungeon, but I am wrong. It is more than that. The story deepens as the episodes progresses. It was fun most of the times, but it will suddenly hit you with a dramatic scene that will make you emotionally attach to the characters. Speaking of characters, they ate well written and well designed. They are unique with each other, with different personalities and traits.

For the final episode, they reminiscent about Falin, and made a plan to save her once and for all from the grasp of the Lunatic Magician, and from the body that she was forced to bound to.

I can't wait for the next season of it. Until then, see you.

Trigger’s triumphant return. Ended up not doing a full review because ngl, I’m not the biggest fan of this show like most of tumblr or twitter are. It’s def a cool show and something different, but it never gripped me like that. Marcille was the biggest draw for me. The group dynamic was fun and there were some funny moments, but it clearly wasn’t made for me.

That said I’ll be watching season 2 ofc to support trigger and get the end of the story with Falin and the mad sorcerer.. Artistically it’s very much a trigger show and it’s good to have them back.

That's one hell of a d&d campaign. Started with party getting wiped. Remade a party with 4th party member conveniently joining as they enter the dungeon (basically just made a new character sheet). Got zero funds so going with a crazy idea of living off of the dungeon resources. Plan is to defeat The Red Dragon. Up until the end goal campaign was mostly goofy, with subtile lore drops about the dungeon. And suddenly end goal isn't The End Goal, lore drops become the main story, now we hunting all powerful mad wizard, searching for legendary "winged lion" with a side quest of lifting the curse from cursed underground village.
And for sure there are more plot twists to come. Some nice DMing.

Guys, first season is done ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚ I'm so happy they were set on adapting the whole manga. This has been such a pleasant surprise in the anime season! With frieren, you would follow the main characters venturing, but dungeon meshi is the everyday adventurers, trying to pull through and getting in trouble, no big prize apart from survival. It is a very well made anime.

They also left it at an interesting, transitional point, I wanna see more meals and hope Falin gets back both her mind and body, I hope the elf also gets a favourable epilogue. Btw, the transformed dumplings looked so delicious! Aaaah dungeon meshi.

W for the character dynamics, they cooked, for something that is understated or completely neglected in other anime I think in this case it was a huge reason why the show worked really well, I thoroughly enjoyed Dungeon Meshi, glad we getting a S2.

Delicious in Dungeon is already the AOTY for me. Everything in this anime from the story, characters and animation has completely won me over. The characters in particular have become very dear to my heart and I loved following their journey to save Falin. The dungeon felt very alive with its own rules and ecosystem. Although cooking monsters was the main focus in the beginning, I didn't find it repetitive at all. On the contrary, everything was very creatively designed and sometimes I would have liked to try Senshi's dishes.

Overall, Delicious in Dungeon has become one of my top 10 anime and I'm very happy to hear that a second season is already in production. I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm totally give this anime a 10/10

This final episode may not have been the greatest for a finale, but it was still quite the fun episode and it laid out the goals to be met clearly, which is basically to free the Lion, bop Thistle on the head, and lastly to eat Falin, and unfortunately not the good kind of eat lol, it’s kinda fucked up really and I have no idea how they plan to go about it, but it also fits right in with the show that’s always been about eating monsters in a dungeon, only this time it’s to save someone.

But there was also a bit more to this episode, we got the conclusion to the transforming mushrooms situation, I definitely wasn’t expecting the resolution to be simply taking a shower lol, and the fight against the gargoyles was a really fun time with mini Marcille getting flung around like a doll. And we also got some backstory on Laios and Falin that went beyond what we saw before, I wish we got a bit more details than we did but it was a good scene and I’m always down to learn more about the characters we already know and love, also can’t go wrong with more pre-monster Falin.

And that was it for now, because hell yes Season 2 has already been announced, thank you Trigger for not only delivering one spectacular season but also promising us another so soon, I’m seeing that this was apparently just the tip of the iceberg so I’m definitely excited to see what’s to come. That being said, man I can’t believe it’s already over, it’s always sad when a great 2-cour anime ends because that was half a year where this show was always there, but time is like that unfortunately lol. And what a show it was, Trigger absolutely killed it, they were the main reason I picked this show up and I not only love what they did for it, but now I also love this series, I see that there’s a lot of people that weren’t that into it until the plot kicked in but I enjoyed every bit of it, I’m a big fan of SoL which is probably why lol, but I won’t deny the plot is damn good along with the usual goofiness of the show.

And both cours brought us some real bangers for the OPs and EDs, I think my favorite of them all is ED 2 but all of them are so good and are favorites of mine for each season this aired in. And I guess with that I now wait for Season 2, and also be sad that this was my first Spring 2024 anime to end lol, it was gonna happen eventually.

By the way, was that trolley thing a reference to the Resident Evil 2 game?
