Indeed, it is not afraid to hold itself on one scene to allow you to soak in the atmosphere. If anything, this is what iyasheiki does best. This also helps emphasise the “magic” of the mundane, which the series would explore most prominently in Natural I believe. Aria also has one of the best soundtracks because it is able to imbue its setting so well into the music. All in all, it really brings a unity between its character, narrative and atmosphere that is quite unique, despite the relatively simple narrative.

Yep, my favourite part of the series is the characters. Akari’s never-say-die positive altitude and optimism really helps me switch perspectives to look for the good in people and situations.

Glad you enjoyed season 1 of Aria, which is quite underappreciated given that it does not do as much as the other seasons for character development and world building. The general atmosphere of Aria is just so incredible that I definitely did not mind the slower and unfocused pace of the first season- especially since the cheerful and idealistic world it creates makes it such a comforting show to go back to. Oh and the warm aesthetic can only be replicated by the old anime artstyle that adds to the overall atmosphere- definitely a titan of the slice of life genre
