Hametsu no Oukoku Episode 4 Discussion

I dunno what to say. This show is just not good. I think I'm dropping it at this point. 3 episodes of a whole lot of nothing/cringe and a fourth episode of pure raw cringe.

The animation, art, and setting aren't bad... I think the writing is probably just terrible... like really terrible.

@nestharus I don't like this that much either, but I don't see what's cringe about it? At least there's some kind of attempt at bringing characterization and world-building into this. Both humans and witches are trying to survive the ways they know how, and in this episode, we also saw how there's positive and negative sides to witches as well, compared to degrading just one side like most thoughtless series like to do. Most likely, those scars on Chloe were formed from both humans and witches and you can't even call either side outright evil. Adonis shines so much in this episode as not just some raging lunatic, but someone who's level-headed, and able to make sound judgements like putting his emotions aside in his decision to not resurrect Chloe as a slave for the witches (from what I see). I can agree that the pacing of this anime is very slow, which can correlate to some problems with the writing, but I still don't see what's cringe. In this case, I think it's just your tastes that are likely different.

@BlueMoonTornado I think the writing is right at the edge of being good/bad and I am finding it to be annoying. Some aspects cringe me out as well. Him waking up where he did was the last straw :p. The whole zoom out to show everything was a huge "this makes 0 sense" and I checked out ;D.

Those bruises Chloe had, she got them from humans chasing her, when she fought them? Also why did it look like he was in labor pain at the begining of the episode, that was weird.

Man this has become the show I look forward to the most along with ragna crimson every week. Top 2 of the season rn. Absolutely love the world, lore and Adonis’ edgy personality. Love how he just says what’s on his mind, no filter and doesn’t give a fuck about anyone besides Chloe.

Had a feeling the witches were not to be trusted. There’s a reason Chloe wasn’t with them after all. Makes the conflict with the humans even more interesting. Both sides are shitty. The witches probably were up to no good which led to the humans distrusting them and seeking to eliminate them. Ophelia seems like she’s hiding a lot, I expect things to take an even wilder turn next week.

Doroka is on the cover of the promotional material for the series so you knew she was coming back. I wonder if that Chloe scene was her saying thank you to Adonis for not bringing her back.

Need the next episode badly

Adonis did made the right decision to not revive Chloe and revived Doroka instead. Chloe is just too kind and caring. After that Bathroom scene, Adonis realized that the World is cruel and the World doesn't deserve her kindness, also that when he learned that the witches plan to use her and her magic to wipe out humanity, he doesn't want to see her suffer again because of the bruises he saw on her. So he made the right call to revive Doroka, since he owed her and Anna a debt.

For those of you who prefer watching the anime, I HIGHLY recommend reading the manga so that you'll have a better understanding of the story.

I like Adonis and sympathized with him until he pushed the random witch that was standing in the way telling her to “move! You’re in my way” to get his quill. Dude has no shame

That girl he pushed was an innocent bystander. A lowly witch, if you will. He’s an inconsiderate asshole for that.

The pushing really just made me not like him anymore. I forgave him for murdering innocents and children, then he does this bs.
