At this point, I'm starting to get tired of Shiori's conflicted feelings...it's like it's always the same thing with her and that personality.

But hey, we got some cute yukata this episode featuring Akari and her friends. It's a common theme from rom-coms like this but once in awhile, festival episodes can be fun to watch.

Honestly that move of Minami's friend was kinda a asshole move and it backfired on them pretty badly as well.
The mains on the other hand still don't really realise their feelings for each other still being a bit to focused on their other potential love partners but it's clear they have feelings for each other and that those feelings are growing.
It's also a meter of time before they realise tho and hopefully become a couple.

For a country suffering from low birth rates, no wonder calling someone virgin doesn’t even count as an insult. Moreover our main dude is so comfortable with the tag, he doesn’t even feel to resist.

Also face the facts Akari, you’ve no chance with Minami-sama. So stop bawling your eyes out and go get together with main, which inevitably will be the case later on either way.

I have read the manga as well, but I dislike the characters I can't get in too an anime where a female character already is conflicted between 2 characters. Made the romance part not as good

The manga is just around 50 chapters pretty disappointing, but I am pretty sure the mc will get together with “A” around chapter 80 or maybe 100

Akari seeing the Tenjin and Sakurazaka together, making look like is a surprise. "OMG, the government-issued couple is walking together." (Surprised Pikachu face)
Seriously, after Akari began to cry I had to watch 2x speed to finish the episode. Because was too dumb.

Good episode, really I like AkarixJirou a lot, their development has been good, Akari is trying her best not to fall in love with Jirou, on the other hand, Jirou still doesn't know about his feelings for Akari, let's see where it goes.
I give it 7/10.

Akari’s girlfriends are so wholesome?????

I think I will start to dislike Jirou, if Akari makes clear/known of her feelings, and then if Shiori does the same and he wavers again lol. I get their conflicted feelings now and I wna see how it develops. I hope it doesn’t go down that way.

I also want to see more of Minami. He seems like an earnest character and isn’t what he appears to be too, chill guy who wna stay out of things, I hope he gets more screentime.

but i’ll probably remember over and over again

man this keeps on delivering. i'm in awe at just how good the romantic moments are. this is the first seasonal i've watched in ages that had this great romantic moments like actual good romantic moments. excellent stuff.

akari already knew somewhere in her heart that she liked jiro more but the misunderstanding/ shit timing kinda solidified for akari that she likes jiro more.

good to see some realisation by jiro too.

not gonna lie i think this is the best romcom we have recieved since sono bisque and i will undoubtedly put this in a league close to sono bisque. akari reminds me of marin a lot too.

it was really heart warming to see jiro wiping her tears and then akari just hugging him. it was even more awesome to see that an understanding exists between them.

i really do love this japanese culture of calling only the people you are close with by first name. that name powerup scene was great, one couldn't help but smile.

this was a really heart warming episode overall. loved it so much that i watched from the crying part again. these un-interrupted moments where the mood is maintained and no one ruins it by getting embarassed or stuff are the moments i watch romance anime for in the first place and this is the first romcom i've watched in a long time that had these so delicate and personal romantic moments like this. you love to see it.

it's gonna hurt if akari doesn't end up winning. i'm fully team akari for now at least, i'll leave some room in case shiori comes and gets lots of screentime and developments from next episode onwards. very hard to beat akari now though.

akari best girl. kinda close to best girl's goddess marin.

6/5 episode. can't wait to watch next one. this episode absolutely justifies my rating of 9/10 for this anime. if this quality is kept up i see another 10.

Jirou hiding on the roof after what happened lol and doesn't wanna tell Kamo as well.

Shiori all alone with those trash bags but luckily some of her friends came to give an helping hand, one of Shiori's friend calls out to Jirou and Kamo for assistance, but when Shiori and Jirou meet, the tension got a little awkward and Shiori went all blush mode.

Akari and her friends now sit on a bench and taste the new crepes, Natsumi and Sachi do rock paper scissors as to who can ask Akari the first, Sachi winning goes straight to asking about Jirou.

Jirou helps Akari to get ready for an firework festival, and Akari is all over Jirou telling how she is gonna enjoy the day and all that while Jirou stays back at home. Akari arriving at the festival sees Natsumi and Sachi waiting there for her. Shuu tells the girls that Minami couldn't make it because his job called him in (which is a lie btw). Akari now being full depressed mode walks alone through the festival, but ofcourse Minami straight up lied and is with Shiori at the festival, Akari now being in even more pain and wants to go home because her whole day got ruined.

We finally see a little screentime of Shiori and Minami walking together before saying goodbye to each other, Shiori still thinking about Jirou ofcourse.

Akari goes and calls Jirou because she just had the worst day, crying over the phone, which was sad to see. Jirou coming to the rescue as he wants to meet Akari fast but Akari is literally outside the door, Jirou wiping off her tears and Akari hugging him was the most cutest thing, Jirou trying to comfort her was amazing to see.

Now they're both on the balcony holding each other. Akari going all blush mode whenever Jirou says her name, interesting.

What a nice firework ending to the episode though.

p.s. Akari looks cute in a Yukata.

Even taking out the trash in a boy-girl affair, it triggers the heartpangs knowing that it'll trigger romantic moments. But Akari's gal friends Sachi and Natsumi wanting to ask how she feels about Jiro, it's no longer a secret that she is harboring feelings for him while being dejected that both Minami and Shiori are hitting it off nicely. There is still time and space for both to get their desired crushes, though how that's done, it's through the typical fireworks festival trope.

Jiro fitting on Akari's yukata, even though they're bickering, love is surely in the air for the both of them. But forget about that, the fireworks festival is underway, and the girlfriends are here to support Akari in achieving her goal to get close to Minami. However, the batch of guys forgot to tag Minami in, and he didn't show up due to his work. As disappointed as Akari was, nothing could change the fact that what came after shocked her: Minami's "date" with Shiori, which only decimated her hopes even further. In retrospect, it just so happens that both of them have to cross the festival in order to get to Minami's workplace.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Akari crying and whimpering at what she saw that destroyed any hopes of ever dating Minami, with Jiro rushing out to find her right at their door. Despite that, Jiro comforting Akari and untying her yukata at their balcony, it's great imagery. Calling out her name restores her confidence, but this instance only lasts once, the first and the last.

Will they ever see fireworks the same now, and forever?

Obligatory romcom fireworks festival episode! Really cute moments with Jiro dressing Akari and then comforting her after the fireworks. But I wish everyone in this damn series could just pick who the hell they like lol. Shiori, akari and jiro are all conflicted. Just be with the person who actually likes you already.

This series is definitely this season's Rent-A-Girlfriend where so much misunderstandings have made the story stretched out so much that it loses its credibility in being a memorable rom-com even if every element of it (except the dystopian present of Japan) has been done a thousand times. A Couple of Cuckoos should've been the blueprint for this series.

This is turning out to be a great rom-com, I'm really enjoying it. Funny how Akari teases Jirou and tries to get a reaction out of him. She accuses him of being jealous a couple of times but at the end Jirou was the winner and he got to tie her bow the way he preferred. I guess Shiori was still embarrassed about the accidental kiss from before so she avoided interacting with Jirou when they were going to throw the trash away together, missed opportunity for her.

Akari has some nice friends.

Akari might be thinking about giving up on Tenjin based on a misunderstanding... I don't like that. She should give up on Tenjin on her own terms, not because of some weird coincidence.

My god the Friends have made the most logical statement of the series so far. It's about time someone mentioned "Is this real love or is she falling into a fake love thanks to the practical marriage?" I guess it was a good moment in the anime to finally bring it up but Jeeze man.

Call me heartless but I have no sympathy for Akari. I get she's coming to terms with her feelings but #1 she's still somewhat mean to Jiro. And #2 she misunderstood the Minami issue again.

Honestly at this point they need to write Minami out of the show and just focus on the love triangle.

I get the first name thing is a "thing" in Japan...but it's getting cringey when it's overdone like this.

Sachi and Natsumi are really good friends to have! I love how they just want the best for Akari.

Akari looked great in her yukata!

The moment when Jirou saw Akari crying was really well-done! I got a bit emotional from the execution.

This was both cute and a very emotional episode for me. A lot of eventful things happened, but that part where Akari called Jiro and started crying, felt very heavy. Especially, when Jiro comforted her, while she was crying intensely in his arms.. Now that, hits really deep and hard. I'm just glad that Jiro was there for Akari during her time of need. Poor girl, just had to see that scene.

Summer Festival episodes have always been a favorite of mine, this was a nice one for sure. It was a nice time for the most part, Jiro getting to tie the sash on Akari’s yukata was really nice, and I really enjoyed seeing Akari have fun with her friends, Natsumi especially cracked me up lol, but of course the mood was extremely soured when she saw Minami with Shiori after hearing he couldn’t be there because of work, that hurt me too at first but of course it was a misunderstanding, but even then that may have helped seal the deal between Akari and Jiro.

And speaking of, those scene between the two of them near the end were all excellent. The crying scene was killer, and the fireworks bit was awesome as well, as a Shiori fan I definitely can’t deny how great these two are together. Bless you fireworks, your magic always works wonders lol. Also nice that we got to see Sachi and Shiori in yukatas in the post credits, definitely appreciated.
