THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Episode 1 pre-screened through Kadokawa's YouTube channel. You'd have to wait until the official episode drops next month. Episode is now available. This honestly gives me Winter's Idoly Pride vibes, with Kanna Hirayama's KanoKari character designs replicated here. Kadokawa's Selection Project being an Idol x Audition x Reality Show multimedia project circa. Dec 2019, which started around the same time as CyberAgent's idol multimedia project. It's hard not to see the similarities between the idol girls from both shows, espeically with lead Suzune Miyama being like Sakura Kawasaki with a serious health condition, and a newcomer idol like Kotono Nagase to follow the footsteps of her idolized idol Akari Amazawa (resembling Mana, Kotono's older sister). As is shown, girls from all across Japan's various regions perform live for this 7th Annual Selection Project, which is a vigorous "Audition Battle" fest to choose 9 stars from the thousands participating. Of which for the Northern Kanto region where Suzune resides, she would obviously and eventually be one of the chosen girls in the 9-girl group, but to narrowly miss out on prelims against Seira Kurusu means a dream dashed. Is this the beginning of the end of a dream for this idol hopeful, looking forward to succeed a distinguished deceased idol's place? A good formation of a start just like Idoly Pride. |

Nice start with the audition from all over Japan. Kurusu Seira won the northern Kanto qualification. So, right now, I've wondered that how Suzune will be able to enter the Selection Project. Because, as we all know that she will be the one who is in the project instead of Seira. I really looking forward to watching the next episode. btw, nice art and visuals from Doga Kobo. The song "Only one yell" is also a good one. And, well... it reminds me a lot of Idoly Pride. ;) |

checked the cast list. Ok, the only guy is the panda mascot, so I would be starting this. would have auto-dropped if it's another Idoly Pride with plenty of guys. now waiting for episode 1 to become available. |

I find them extremely boring not really hate guys, I also watch mixed shows like Iruma-kun and Aquatope. however, I come to an idol show to enjoy watching the girls and not the guys. So I prefer, and will support (by buying items) idol anime which are all girls show. you clearly have a different preference and enjoy a different group of shows. there's nothing more to talk about. So this is my last reply to you. Added to block + ignore list. |

All-female anime's fandom is overflowing with immature people who perceive such shows as pure fanservice and hate even hearing a hint of male characters. As you can see, he even literally blocked you just because you expressed a different opinion without any accusations or criticism. |

Ahh.. I missed Doga Kobo. :) My favorite anime studio never fails me. Interesting looking cast. Let's see if this going to be my favorite anime of this season! About these comments here.. Well, I also want my idol anime to be as "pure" as possible, so not having boyfriend conversations every other episode or a male characters in the show (unless if it's a manager or a dance teacher, like Johnny from Aikatsu) is always a big plus in my book. That's just my personal opinion. No need to bash me. |

It really feels like Idoly Pride again especially with the legendary idol being dead and that sick girl, too bad she lost at the end but I understand why, the concept is pretty interesting but I still wonder how it will develop later, I'm sure she'll try to get back to the scene even after her defeat |

That was some fast pacing right there. All those 108.000 waifus are just going to vanished like that. Huh, strange the MC didn't pass. Next week we shall know why she's the one who passed. Maybe the foreign girl resign from the competition. The character design also very similar to Rent A Girlfriend. I got my eyes on Hamaguri Hiromi. |

Legendary idol dies young from a car accident? Hmm, am I having a deja vu moment? Anyways, not a bad episode. Going through all the auditions from all the different regions felt a little tedious (especially because you already know who's going to win), but at least they threw in a little surprise at the end. With Doga Kobo & Hiramaki working on this, the animation quality will stay top notch; I just hope the story can keep up with the animation quality 22/7 wasn't good Idoly Pride wasn't good Hopefully Selection Project can change that trend. |

This was an exposition heavy episode, almost like I'm watching the tournament arc of a battle shounen. Really liked it. Wonder if Suzune is going to receive another chance (because she's on the cover) or if she will be part of another idol group. From the girls that made it I liked sweets girl the most. Well, idol shows have rarely disappointed me so far and this one is by Doga Kobo. Double yay. |

Good start, the story is very predictable even though there is an absurd plot twist that is "Lack of one supporter" and the MC suddenly falls, actually very unprofessional considering every audition may have to show his medical history. Character design is pretty good. xD |

So I won't deny that I'm a huge Idol anime fan, but I loved it. It has some similar tropes used in recent Idol anime such as Idoly Pride and 22/7, but I still really enjoyed it! The character designs are very cute, the voice acting, from what I could tell was solid, and the song was really nice. Very much looking forward to more! |

Honestly really strong opening episode for me. Normally you'd expect the main to still pull through, but it surprised me with that she didn't win. Plus that ending too. It really hit deep in the feels. |

wow that art is really good lol but that ending with how MC didn't end up making the finals makes me wonder what kind of direction this series will go. Will it go the shitty love live, idolmaster etc. route (most probably) or will it actually end up being amazing like idolish7? Or maybe it just says fuk it and go the abomination 22/7 route lmao but definitely an interesting start for an idol anime no less. |

Almost everything was great, except that horrible Sumipanda mascot that made me puke of how horrible it is. That design would be acceptable if was an anime full of psychopaths, but this is a normal idol anime, with everyone else having a good design be the girls and their family. Now I wonder how Seira will go down, after all she isn't in the poster and not even have the VA on the staff list. Get Akari treatment? Or an accident? Or just an standard quit? |

Way better than expected, this was really good. Dropping us right into the middle of that audition was pretty great too. I hope the show can keep up the quality. |

Oof I didn't expect them to just kill Hayamin's character off like that lmao. The sick kid reminded me of the girl from Oshi no Ko. I didn't like the song they sang, I hope the others will be better. There were some cute girls, I knew the main character wasn't going to win it but it still made me sad. I'm guessing they'll announce something like "we decided to pick two girls from that region because their votes were really close". I mean, she has to join somehow... right? |

It's a great beginning, but I'm a little confused on a certain part. Does the competition continue or do we just end up with the nine girls chosen, and they are a group now? Also, if the competition continue, how would it work? Would it be a knockout system where a girl will be disqualified every week or so or a points system where everyone stays until the end? I'm not that familiar with Japanese game shows so I don't know. |

I mean, it's pretty obvious Suzune is going to get in since it's blatant that she only lost because falling down lost her crowd-points. She was clearly excessively skilled to the point it shocked onlookers, and even the blonde chick she lost to realized it. Just from the way the blonde chick was acting you can tell she's probably going to resign or something along those lines so Suzune can take her spot due to it being obvious how talented she is. |

I have visited Japan several times, and sometimes I had to wake up very early. Ofc occasionally you will see some people here and there, but it's very easy to do photos of even many major places without single person. Japan is basically dead silent between midnight and 5 AM (at least partially because there isn't any night public transport), and I would say that it doesn't become much more lively till at least ~7 AM. |

This was a far better start than I actually imagined it would be. The cast looks good and honestly I really dig the character designs. I like the idea this Anime is presenting me, I don't think I've seen something like this yet, so it's a welcome surprise. I was a little surprised about the first winner we heard at the start (bless Hayami Saori with her voice once again) was killed in an accident. I kinda was expecting a bit of happy here and there with the MC getting through and then the end of the episode definitely showed me otherwise. Very intriguing. Now I am most curious to know why Suzune collapsed during her finale performance. Somehow doesn't feel like it's related to why she was in the hospital for, but I like to be proven wrong. I admire that she got back up to continue the performance though. |

I originally wasn’t gonna pick this show but I decided to because I really wanted to watch it despite not having much room for it in my list, and I’m glad I did. I really enjoyed this first episode, art was beautiful and I love all the character designs, seems like it has a waifu for everybody with that variety. I hate to see our main girl lose the competition but I also kinda saw it coming the second she got on stage, don’t know how, guess I’m a wizard lol, or maybe it wasn’t hard to predict. But I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes, plot is very interesting so far and I love the concept. I’m hoping we get the Op and Ed next week! Definitely been missing Doga Kobo shows too, glad I picked this one, and also glad to have another idol anime to look forward too after Love Live Sunshine ends! |

One of the worst first episodes I have seen. Who at the studio thought it was a good idea to introduce 50 characters(hyperbole) in the first 10 minutes? Literally any other show takes their time to do that. But oh well, why not shove like 50 characters in the viewer's face in the first 10 minutes and expect them to care. The animation was god awful. The art style is like every other show from the studio. The character designs look extremely plastic-ish and very generic. Some characters even look straight up ugly. I don't think this is even an idol show since there was no dancing, only singing. Which also makes it a LOT more easier to animate since characters are basically standing and not doing complex movements like they do in a dance sequence. The story was also really generic. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this episode sadly. Also why is everyone pronouncing "yell" as "el"? Won't drop yet because I follow the three episode rule. Hopefully they can do better next episode. |
