Well, the Witch had an extenuating circumstance, Bamko got confused in their own marketing plans and didn't know what to do about it. Jellyfish as we now know has already been fully created and the writer seems to have some reason to refuse to both confirm and deny whether it is yuri or not. Unless this is some kind of bait and switch or the case of Naoko Yamada, who rejects the term yuri as “fiction”, preferring to describe what she considers realistic, then we are clearly in for some very forced or strange thing next. Because even taking into account that I don’t want to speculate, it’s hard for me to imagine how they can develop this in the direction of ambiguity. Yes, the show has already demonstrated the theme of platonic love, but the kiss, even on the cheek, and their mess after that seem too homoerotic.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't. I also expect people will already be recommending this to each other as "full yuri". This isn't the first show to go through this lol. Ironically, one of the latter also included a kiss on the cheek as a trigger.

I think this is still a level of circumstantial evidence + typical fanservice guessing. For example, I remember Domekano releasing illustrations that could give you the impression that female leads are in incestuous lesbian relationships, lol. But never say never. At this point I'm more interested in why the author started all this talk about "different interpretations of yuri". Are we really going to get a second G-Witch where Bamko went too far at first and then tried to backtrack lol.

I'm talking about the official illustration, which is easy to read both as a ship tease and as just fan service.

By the way, it's strange that I'm the only one who noticed this, but go to the Jellyfish illustrations section and look at the image they posted to support Valentine's Day a couple of months before the show premiered. This could be just basic fan service or even a joke, but it does look pretty interesting.

Well, you can follow his behavior in several different dialogues on this topic. In one he states that yuri is something of an interpretation, and in another he agrees with his favorite yuri author (?) that the boundaries of yuri can be different for everyone. The context of the latter might allow us to assume that in his eyes, any lesbian content = yuri, but he still returns to the theme of "yuri is different for everyone", which really confuses me for thinking about what this kiss or hyped pun could mean in the song if he doesnt considers it objective yuri.

Yes, chihayafuru is so good. it is actually the best thing I've read and watched the past couple years. I've been on an anime rut recently, but this show was so good. i love the characters, the drama, the story, music, etc. its really good, and the manga is even better. i also have sakura quest in my ptw, maybe ill check it out soon.

It has been a while; college is too much work for me too haha. I can only barely keep up with anime on the weekends, during lunch, or during school-allotted breaks.

I try my best to watch anime as I really enjoy watching it, so along with the other things in my life I like to enjoy, I don't want to just cut it out. I like Tensei and Tenshi a lot, but I don't really like Tomo. Idk why, it's just annoying to me....

Yeah, college is fine, but lots of work as you said. I've been reading a lot more recently since it's less time-consuming than anime. I'm currently reading Tomozaki, and afterwards I'm planning to pick up HakoMari again.
