wow this episode was wonderful as usual. really cool opening scene, liked that setting with the bridge and stuff, liked the symbolism there; neiru was really badass blowing that guy’s arm off too and her motivations for going to get eggs was interesting. the conversation in ai’s room was quite interesting too, so its confirmed now momoe is that therapist guys niece. i feel like rika was kinda right with what she was saying but she could’ve said it bit more nicely... i really love the locations and stuff in this anime too, that bowling alley place looked really nice especially.

also, ai is so cutee in this frame

I want to know what really happened between Koito and this teacher, it's really weird, I hope what they "predicted" for fun is not true, it would be horrible
Neiru is really suffering in a different way, and that giant scar on her back is terrifying, probably some drama with her in the next episode I guess

Damn, Neiru was really cool and I think Neiru's weapon is really cool.

It was great to see the four of them getting close and Ai's mother seemed very happy , and it turns out that Momoe is the teacher's niece..

Ngl I laughed when I saw their faces like that lol

This shit is just dark. Man. Between the suicides and sexual assaults, grooming, etc. A lot of fucked up shit going on in this show, but I love it. Everything comes with a cost, Ai trying to bring her friend back to life will surely have negative repercussions.

Rika may not have said it in the nicest way, but it is the truth. How do you even know she wants to come back in the first place. We got confirmation that Momoe is related to the other Sawaki as well. I’m glad we learnt about Neiru’s motivations as well and she got some nice shine today.

Great episode as usual, looking forward to seeing how dark this gets.

damn what a great episode that was

so Neiru is the strongest fighter among them it seems and this episode is mostly about her

Rika really is fine being a villain of the group by saying why they should feel guilty of their friends dying they should have make new friends instead in the living world well she does not makes sense that way

we also find out a little bit about mister teacher Sawaki that he is a good person it seems but Rika and Neiru are suspecting something bad about him

I'm expecting next episode to go full 'being meguca is suffering', so I'm writing this here just so I commit to my bet. The death flags are getting out of control already.

A couple of my theories were confirmed, like that Momoe wasn't into her friend at all and it led to her suicide and that Koito had a crush on the teacher (probably unrequited, although this part wasn't confirmed for now). Edit: It seems like Koito was getting jealous of the attention the teacher was giving Ai, even telling her she should just get out of the way if she wasn't confident enough to let him use her as a muse. Maybe the friendship wasn't as good as Ai seems to think it was.

Now we know Momoe is an 'instagirl' and that she enjoys it, I guess. Not exactly a model, but not too far off.

The mannequins are using 'adolescence quirks' and 'reverse psychology' to convince the girls to keep going, I do hope there's more to their gimmick than just becoming a Kyuubey 'give-me-your-emotionsallowances-teen-girls' look-alike. Unfortunately, I don't think it can get more on-the-nose than with Rika regurgitating what the mannequins said last episode, with all the I'm a girl, I get swayed by emotions debacle.

I know Neiru's scar is supposed to complete the whole 'badass girl' package, but it's so big and right in her spine that it feels weird she's 1) alive and 2) walking. Maybe she's not alive. Maybe she isn't exactly awake. Maybe it's just rule of cool. Who knows.

This episode was so great, the girls dynamic was excellent and seeing them getting to know each other is really wholesome, this show sure knows how to balance wholesome moments with a dark atmosphere and themes. At this point i think the show will start getting better with each episode as we get close to the second half of the series.

Damn, I was expecting a stab wound but those scars on Neiru's back are pretty insane. It's surprising she survived through an assault like that.

Rika might have been harsh about it, but she speaks the truth, perhaps all of them started egg encounters out of a sense of guilt, perhaps loneliness and know that they've found each other. There's really no reason to continue, they don't even know if the person they want to bring back really wants it either way. Neiru seems determined though, sounds like to her saving the people in the egg gives her a sense of purpose and satisfaction.

I loved the scene with the girls playing games and spending time at Ai's house. Loving their interactions.
I definitely am curious if something really happened between Koito and the teacher.

Great episode again.

This episode was incredibly fun, with the usual dark undertone seeping throughout. I do agree with most of you that some fight is going to happen with the girls, especially considering the foreshadowing in this episode and the rifts that are slowly forming with their separate ideologies. Neiru do be hella badass, fighting for herself instead of others and I think that's what this anime is about; the idea that you're the one that needs to save yourself and come to terms with the suicide of someone close to you.

Beautiful opening scene.

Every episode is just another confirmation that I really can’t stand Rika no matter how hard I try.

Turns out Neiru is more complex then what meets the eye, interesting. Also her scar is massive AF, must have been really painful.

Tbh I think the show is losing the charm from the first episodes. The atmosphere isn't consistent and I think Rika's character is the one that doesn't fit with the rest of the cast.

They revealed the girl who Momoe wants to save knew that Momoe was a girl when she "put moves on her". Neiru's stab scar is really big, it almost covers her whole back.

Hey, the shot with the main character cast introductions in the OP is now fully explained! During the part where in the OP every main girl was introduced that isn't AI, every girl gets introduced in a way that resembles their world or their dear ones suicide. Momoe is riding a train while talking to a presumed classman (Momoe's friend jumped in front of a train). Rika is eating food (Rika's fan starved herself to death). We didn't got a look at Neiru's world before this episode, so she was on the phone I presumed that Neiru's world/dear ones death had something to do with corporatism or neglect. Turns out, I had to look at the background, since Neiru's sister jumped of a bridge and Neiru is walking over a bridge in the OP! Also, since Neiru's Wonder Egg world already mentioned Capitilism and commerical beauty, I still bet it has something to do with corporatism.

Well, I don't know how it's going to go down, but I feel like this episode was just a look how happy they are setup before shit hits the fan. Also, the sixth episode is a good halfway point to change the tone of the show if they so wish.

I personally understand what's the purpose of Rika's character (to be the against the grain, proactive character that's a direct counterpoint to the others' wallowing self-indulgence) and it doesn't bother me a whole lot, but yeah, I can see how she can come across as annoying, although I don't see how she's messing up with the 'atmosphere'.

I mean, I know it's really damning evidence towards a Kyuubey remix, but I hope they stray away from it in one way or another or, at least, give it a new spin. Although, hitting part of the premise, red herring or not, over our heads isn't really a good sign.

Great episode once more.
I think its pretty obvious by now that, although they have a "gotcha egg machine" the machine aint random at all, as every egg girl tends to have a problem related to the girl protecting them, neiru with success, ai with bullying/school issues, momoe with harassment and more sexual related topics, and rikka with idols i guess?
One thing i can say for sure is that until know every character just feels extremely real, every character has their own personality and everyone seems to interact with each other and also in different ways depending on the person. Oh there is also the fact that most people seem to think like normal human beings. Rika for example was genially concerned about her friends (for good reason) and was also able to ask some really important questions, one in particular that i was personally waiting them to address is "does the person who committed suicide, want to come back to life", which is one topic that probably wont really have any answers but needs to be discussed none the less considering the entire premise of the show.
Very cute but also dark episode, which i very much appreciate.

I do have to be honest that them going back to that topic was pretty out of place, so yea it will for sure return, and it seems to me like it is one of the main discussions in the show (wouldnt surprise me if them thinking that way will have some big effects on their eventual confrontation with the teacher)

neiru felt kinda cold in this ep, i really dont want them to fight TwT
rika did have a point tho if it is seen practically and logically but isnt it too late to be thinking like that now

i dont know why i have a feeling that all 4 of them would die on the last stage of saving whoever they're saving :p

Rika's character is whatever the show wants or needs it to be at that moment but in the most out of place way possible. It bothers me the way she blurts out things to the audience and not to the others. This is what I wanted to say by atmosphere. Wonder Egg uses a subtle narrative to show backstories but Rika is there to just... blurt it all out in case the audience didn't understand what was going on.

That's exactly right. As obnoxious and annoying Rika can be, she hates herself a lot and is probably very angry at herself and it reflects in her behavior with her surroundings. Her unwillingness to remain quiet and to speak her mind is also the trigger for practically every serious conversation between the girls. Every important moment in this episode was initiated by Rika. I think she is a very important character that shouldn't be taken for granted.

Again, another incredible episode both in animation and writing.

In this episode Rika caught me off guard, she had some good points.

If they want friends, the four of them can be, so why still buy eggs?

If they committed suicide, is for some reason, they may be part of the reasons but it was really their fault and decision, so is worth risk their lives for them?

And good dammit, the fact that Neiru's sister did that is shocking.

I'm afraid, I really think that at least one of them is going to die, I hope is not Rika.

It looks like we are finally starting to progress in the plot now that all of the girls have been established and the relationships between them have been forged. I thought that the art and animation were very good in this episode. I don’t love the OST, but I can appreciate that it has personality. I still wish that the monsters were more subtle in how they relate to the traumas. From here on, how the plot progresses will be the major factor in how I end up rating it.

I love Neiru. How badass she is, how she chooses to mind her business but speaks up when she sees fit and almost strategically - staying quiet when Momoe was talking about girls liking her and Rika and Ai were sort of going "that's a bit of a bummer, huh? :/", but when she was alone with her she questioned this apparent discomfort. That background story and that scar... It's most likely the tip of the iceberg, but let's see where all this takes her (and the girls).

It feels like the story, overall, is playing with the notion of unreliable narrators. Be it through the Acca, that segment of Rika leading the brainstorming of theories about Koito (though the teacher having that much private time with students of his just to literally draw them is... Questionable.) and her being the "bad guy willingly, for the greater good" while also having been influenced by that whole "women are simply emotional" shtick from the previous episode (not to mention the influence that her parents' behaviours and ideologies had on her, for better or worse). It's a whole lot of telling and retelling. If anything, it's definitely kept me intrigued every episode.
