Welp, it all came down to judging and the big competition in the end. Jotaro's hard work, sweat, and training is put at work.

We got see the skill level reach its peak. Funny how the episode also had time to add in some comedy like that car ride. Pretty tough scoring from the judges though. It goes to show that at this level of competition, every move counts. Nice work Jotaro. There's also a two year time skip that I thought was interesting.

Quite an interesting show imo and one of the few sports anime we got this season.

Daughter worried, and she told others except main guy. Her classmate seems to know ballerina is lying.

lol @ physician for loud yell that made people around him fell ill. Well, he is male in blood anyways. Messages delivered. and lol @ grandma's harsh driving.

Competition begins. KajiKaji's character is back on track.

Wow, that gyaru part-timer is a fighter!

That lady in black who asked the girl to talk to him listened to her about waiting for her. Ballerina finally told her that he was afraid and escaping from everything. She ensured him they will be with him no matter who he really is.

0.1 points in difference before final one. Ballerina finally arrived. He was useful in hinting him when he was in danger. Even KajiKaji's character is surprised.

It was learned that KajiKaji's character admired main character, that's why he was so harsh on him. He shed tear from losing him.

Showing the family visiting ballerina's performance. It seems like ballerina is matured and the girl is grown up w. longer hair.

Jotaro Aragaki's final showcase to surprise and WOW the crowd once again, and the fierce pressure between the Gymnastics Samurai vs. Bandana Prince is on. GANBATTE, Aragaki!

Even the hidden plan with one of the MIB agents cooperating with Rei to stall Leo from deportation, with Mari, Rei, Ayu and BigBird on the fast track. However, with Leo being the way he is now, he's depressed and helpless to face everyone, and Rei offers him a way out with utmost confidence to find his pride back, and at least watch Jotaro for one last time. Feels predictable though...

The back-and-forth obscenely close fight between the youngster and veteran are second-to-none whilst racking insanely high segment scores. In the midst of Rei and Leo reaching just in time, it's time to execute THE Aragaki Mk. II (the quadruple flip), and with the stylish finesse of retaining the family name HIGH AND ALMIGHTY with a near perfect score for a dramatic comeback finish in 1st place.

What a way to send this show off on a good note with Leo's timeskip of ballet dancing. Not the best overall, but oh well, it's a DAMN fine-to-good show.

@_MushiRock11_ SUPER THANKS FOR THE ED! Was wanting to find this song for the longest time, such a cool and great sounding song.

So many emotions for this finale episode, I truly loved it, Jotaro was really incredible.
Overall it was sure a good anime, I'm a bit disappointed by the animation to be honest but except for that it was very worth it, the characters are lovely and they're well developed and for an 11 episodes anime the story was sure really interesting, I'll miss this show

I want to see a lot more of this! After all, the oldest gymnast to compete in Olympic is 46 years old, Jotaru can still fight through Tokyo Olympic next year!

A little bit sad that Tetsuo lost, he's my favorite character, luckily I can see more of him from Hyunckel of Dragon Quest which has the same personality, same physical appearance (except hair color), and same voice actor, Yuki Kaji!

Sequel might be out of hope, but I demand at least an OVA, there are so many things need to resolve, for example, what about Tomoki's romance? Or how Olympics 2004 went?

Updated: Not an OVA though, there will be a Drama CD in home release, alongside with a full and karaoke version of Shanghai Honey.

Very much under the curtain anime, seems you don't need a 200+ chapter long manga to make a good sport story. I admit the whole ninja thing at the beginning was kinda weird, but it turned out good and the characters are very likable. I also like the art.

Man I teared up when Aragaki pulled it off. He did it damn it, he did the spiked Aragaki and also quadruple Aragakia aka Aragaki 2. What a guy!!!

Techhan respecting Aragaki was something really obvious but the revealation was still good nonetheless. Timeskip was a bit unexpected but no complain since I got to see a slightly grown up Rei. Thou too bad Leo's ballet wasn't shown.

A really good anime overall, a bit cliche at times but in a good way.

Damn, this was a superb finale episode!

Minamoto really got the stakes but Jotaro pulled out all the stops in fine fashion! 9.975 is pretty darn incredible too, I imagine. Pretty sure he retired after that, I feel like he finished off his ankle for life there but the 2 year timeskip didn't suggest anything of the sort so maybe he didn't retire after all?

Whatever the case, that's one seal tied. Leo, being the other. Cheesy, definitely. But it did its work, so I've no complaints. Got to see Rei-chan put on some performance, Ayu-chan show off some skill and the Grandma flex a bit of her driving expertise, just the package to bid farewell with xD.

By the way, Britney-san garnering all the spotlight with that roar is definitely another standout of the episode for me. God, that was quite something!

And of course Minamoto's idol is the noneother than the Samurai lol. Saw it coming from a mile away.

All in all, an underrated show for sure. It's been really fun for me personally and the Drama albeit cheesy and a little undercooked served to raise the stakes successfully. Jotaro was a really cool MC too, imo. Some of the comedy and random moments, mostly surrounding BB and the "love guy", were meh but overall it was an interesting company. Solid 7/10 from me, as such.

Could have helped with an extra episode or two to flesh out some more but oh well.

Here's the ED:

You can thank me later.

@KANLen09 Pleasure's mine. Found it myself just moments after watching the final episode and couldn't help but share the great gem around.

Aragaki nailed the "Aragaki 2". I wanted to see Leo's performance too, but oh well.

Rei carried the show in my opinion. The other characters were good too but Rei stood up the most. Her character was great from the beginning to the end, she kept her strong personality and never got depressed. I didn't like the story. I love both the opening and the ending. The animation was alright. 6/10.

They saved the best episode for last. Great finale, kinda wish we got to see Leo's performance at the end.

The whole thing was staged in a very classic manner but the execution was good enough to be fun. Gotta admit that I laughed out loud when grandma opened the gear handle and pushed the nitrous button. xD

Minamino performed splendidly but Jotaro's performance on the bars was way too awesome. Make way for Aragaki II!

Overall, the show had it's ups and downs but it was a fun ride. I think the show was most notable when tackling Rei and Jotaro's father-daughter dynamic. It was the most emotionally resonating part of the show and very endearing, the performances were always great to watch. Everything apart from that had it's moments but not truly notable for me. Happy that the show ended on a positive note.

Yep, Minamino looked up to the Samurai.

There was a two year skip and we saw Rei all grown up with long hair.

Nice last episode. Britney and the mother were fun. 8/10 for me. MAPPA delivers again - when it comes to original anime.

For some time I thought it would be a 9/10 for me. (10 I give out super rarely) Though there weren't enough episodes and some of the earlier scenes when doing sports were boring. Later with the training camp it got better gain.

The end was a bit too short. Fulfilled the minor requirements: Showing a bit stuff later in the future. But that was very short. I feel like an OVA or movie (or just 2-3 more episodes ... 13 episodes maybe) would have made for a better end.

Can't give more than 8 with this.

very nice storytelling and great ending ^w^

i'd have liked to see a little more of Tetsuo, but the development of Jotaro, Rei and Leo was beautiful, their bonds, fears, goals and affection between them

and the supporting ones brought comic relief and some emotion (actually never quite liked BB but poor thing, being an exotic creature to which they channel their anger, truly don't wish it on anyone lol) also in this last episode the CGI was noticeable more than in others that was more "integrated " in the scene to me.

it was a great show! and it over so nice yet i'd like to see much more!

ayyyyy Jotaro actually came through and one, redemption arc complete lol. Overall a nice finale, Racheal convincing Leo to postpone his return so he could watch Jotaro's tournament (those 2 are meant for each other :P), Jotaro finally being able to do the long awaited move and Leo gaining that confidence he needs to move forward with his struggles

Series overall I felt is pretty underrated. Pretty much MAPPA's 2nd go at yuri on ice but at least the mc comes through at the end I do agree with some of the points above in that I'd hope there'd be some more story to the main villain Tetsuo, and some more eps would've been nice, especially with all the side characters.

My fav part was actually Leo's story though, with Jotaro's coming second. Racheal's story was nice and all, but it kinda felt just there

Well I'd say the finale stuck the landing(heh)

but if I were to rate it, I'd give it a 7/10. I wouldn't say it was bad, but just barely above average for me. If it weren't for the fact that I enjoy watching gymnastics, I prolly would dropped the anime earlier on.

All the sitcom/comedy elements earlier in the anime just didn't do it for me. I found Leo's character super obnoxious until we started learning more about his backstory. I was kind of able to accept that him pretending to be a ninja was his way of coping with the trauma of him trying to escape the burden of being a supreme ballet dancer. But when he acted as his ninja persona, it was like he had the mentality of a child while being a comic relief character and I just....wasn't about it.

the strength of the anime was for sure the relationships btw Jotaro, Rei, and Leo. The other side characters really didn't contribute much to the story except for Jotaro's coach. It wasn't really until ep 10 and 11 that the other characters like the grandma started to have more of a purpose.

I had also hoped for more backstory into Minamino's character. He was a massive asshole at the start, wanting Jotaro to quit gymnastics, but we learn at the end that he secretly admired him? Like ok, woulda been nice to get some flashbacks with him watching Jotaro compete and getting inspired. Or something.

on a visual level, the anime was...pretty bad. Gotta be honest there. Lots of limited animation, stills with flappy mouths for dialogue, characters constantly going off model and looking all wonky. But the animation for the gymnastic sequences were actually pretty good, the CGI was noticeable, but not in a cringey way.

And even though this was done by MAPPA, it's been completely overshadowed by JJK and now AOT, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Although I hope MAPPA tried to promote this at least a little. It's too bad the Summer Tokyo Olympic games got cancelled. There could have been some advertising tie ins for the anime and the Japanese gymnastics team...

Man, thats the end! Samurai finished his job without a mistake! Thanks for coming, Leo. Its really helped him a lot to gain more fire of will to be burnt up at his last bar. Piked Aragaki, and the quadruple Aragaki came as the real differentiator, for the best show they've ever had at the gymnast history. Congratulations! Both of you! Its an amazing performance. Then a farewell for this amazing show too. Mappa did their best to concluded everything at 11 episodes. Even though i must be honest that its really not enough. However, its still be proved that this show was still a decent and pretty watchable to enjoyed your peace weekend times.

I really enjoyed this show, definitely a 8/10 for me. Animation sure wasn't something spectacular, but was good enough, specially if considering that they didn't screwed most of the 3dcg scenes. OST was on point during dramatic moments, and the ending is great too.

The only bad thing was the lack of development for Minamino, I really wish we had one more episode to let him redeem himself, talk with Jotaro, etc...

Perfect Landing. The characters and storytelling are impeccable. Nothing about it is truly unique, but you can feel the soul of its creator pouring out of it, something that's pretty much non-existent in most of the anime today.

I'm giving this 100% of my AoTY vote, but sadly that's only one vote.
Overall 9/10, bumping it up to 10/10 since the score is stupidly low.

Imagine if Britney's VA was Takehito Koyasu (Dio from Jojo in case anyone is unaware), that would have made the part where he screamed "Jotaro" even better lol.

Anyway, it's amazing when you remember how this anime started with Jotaro considering retirement but then ended with him becoming an even more formidable gymnast than before. It was great to see him win and pull off those insane techniques. Tetsuo did well and put up a challenge but it just wasn't his time yet. We even got a small timeskip scene in the end which was nice as we got to catch a glimpse of Leo and his ballet. It would have been nice to actually see a routine though.

It was a decent show overall, it was one of this season's more enjoyable shows. I don't really care about scores on this site since they don't mean shit, but I do wish this show's score was a bit higher. It wasn't really anything to write home about but it was still a nice breath of fresh air.

Bigbird best character of the series xD.

I can see why so many people clapped after Rei's speech, I would've clapped too.

Joutarou's flips, holy those gave me shivers.

I just love how the series started off with Joutarou flopping onto the mat to making difficult tricks and actually landing them. Shows how much determination and hard work he had to achieve his goal. Man what a journey Joutarou had.

definitely underestimated this show.

What a great comeback for our samurai! Not sure if Minamino's frustrated from feeling defeated for dropping a tear, or just happy to see Aragaki make his huge comeback >.> can be both, I guess >w<

The ending was very nice! Rei grew beautifuly and Leo... he should've kept his wavy hair to be honest ;-; It was a good thing that they decided to go to London just to visit Leo :)

I enjoyed! :D 7/10

Fantastic ending, and for an 11 episode anime I think they did a fantastic job overall with the story. Though there is apart of me that wants a Ballet Ninja or something like that lmao, I think it'll be nice. C'mon MAPPA don't let this opportunity pass.

Can't tell if those were tears of joy or frustration from Minamino, probably both lmao. Grown up Rei looks beautiful, definitely my favorite character in the show. Overall I'd give the show a 9/10. One of my favorites this season.

Wow! That's a great ending! Jotaro only pulled that because everyone dear to him is present during the event, Rei, Leo and Tomoyo (memory) being his main inspirations.

It's also nice to reveal that Tetsuo cares about Jo, Jotaro is his idol! And he's keeping things with Jo's autograph/from Jo, the arm band and I guess the headband as well. I hate him before because he's thinking too high of himself but not anymore. I hope he gets a flashback episode or an OVA to fully explain his side like growing up watching and idolizing Jo and feeling bad or hurt of the criticisms thrown to Jo because he was in slump because of Tomoyo's death (I think this is great plot for a Tetsuo OVA lol). I think he's did that because he doesn't want to Jo being disrespected by other people. What a tsundere!

Current Rei looks even cuter and more beautiful! She looks like her mother. The acting that she did in the airport is really good, she'll be a great actress just like her mother or even better. Didn't expect that her grandma's car has nitro booster. lol

Leo's back on track!!! Jo was able to pull that stunt because Leo is present during the competition, Leo (Rei and Tomoyo) was in Jo's thoughts while he was performing. He also looks good in his current haircut. Leo is the ending fairy! Leo deserves his own show. How about a Leo-centered anime series or OVAs or a movie?! If there's a petition for this, I will surely sign up!

Overall, this anime is so entertaining and uplifting. Animation is also great, good job MAPPA!

I see Taisou Zamurai as a SoL drama rather than a sports anime, it has some really boring episodes, it failed at its sports genre for the bad animation, ugly CGI and the lack of competitiveness but, as a drama i think it was pretty good, the father-daughther dynamic was charming, Leo and his personal problem and how it wass handled was just fine, not that bad but not good either. Taisou Zamurai is jut a little above mediocrity but it is a fun anime.

The show honestly began a little weak. I think it may have been the intention, the slow build up replicates the training Jotaro goes through. The hardships and such patience to actually see any progress is painstaking which I think should be the right feeling captured all to make the finale that much better. I'm glad I stuck through to the end.

Fantastic finale! Wasn't expecting Joutarou to actually win the competition but after witnessing such breathtaking performance, him reaching first place was very well deserved in the end. Pretty rewarding after all the struggle, practice and heart he put into his gymnastics. Two "Aragakis" for his routine and his new quadruple spin move ("Aragaki II") to conclude it, simply wow.

Overall, it was a pretty nice series. Its approach was more lighthearted and "cliche" from what I was expecting based on the PVs but its overall execution ended up being more than satisfactory in my book.
Funnily enough, the only "character" I didn't like that much was the bird but that aside, I think the whole cast was rather likeable with Rei being my favorite character alongside her father. I simply loved her strong personality as well as her mature attitude and the father-daughter bond she has with Joutarou was always precious to see. Their realistic and heartfelt dynamic being probably the strongest point this series had in my opinion.

7/10 - Only complain I have is the lack of development for Tetsuo tho. It was more than obvious he looked up to Joutarou but that didn't make him look less of a brat before my eyes.

I guess the lesson here is, go support your family and friends in their endeavors so they can gain their extra boost of confidence and achieve their goals.
Also don't just give surface-level support. You gotta believe in them so much that you FEEL it so that they can feel it.

But damn that ending was just a liiiittle underwhelming. I wish they gave it a little more oomph. What can ya do though. Still, I did like the show a lot more than I ever expected I would.

How BB just kicked Leo XD

Rei giving that speech in front of everyone was amazing! She will be a great actress in the future.

That Jojo scream of Bri tho °Д° and that kid feeling awkward shouting in front of everyone at first was so relatable XD

So all Jou needed was to see Leo...

But how did Jou grab the bar, he was so noticeably far away from the bar...

And Leo's hairstyle at the end tho ๏_๏

Everything was going well but it ended in a disappointing way. I wish they added a bit of interaction of Jou and Leo after the end of the competition instead of ending it in this awkward way. And it would have been much more organized if they showed Leo's dance at the end like how they ended Yuri on Ice with the duet of Victor and Yuri. In the end this episode felt like it was missing a few scenes here and there. So, this should at least have an OVA or two to make it seem complete.

Overall I give it 7/10.

Hm.. I think it was an alright show, not bad, at all, but not quite my cup of tea.. Ngl, felt kinda bored several times, but i managed to sympathize with the characters, and that was enough for me really. Also a breath of fresh air because we don't see that many anime about gymnastics. I guess i could also say that it felt a little bit like anime with the same vibe as Usagi Drop, Kakushigoto, in a way, while not being the main focus of this show but the relationship between father and daughter was present and heartwarming too

Despite the name of the anime, this was never about gymnastics; it was about finding the path in life you want to follow, never giving up on it, and not being afraid to fail before you succeed. Such a beautiful but underrated anime.

I'd say my only critique is that I wish Jotaro's perspective on Tomoyo's death had been explored more.

Also... that Leo glow-up was just stunning haha Rachel looks more and more like her mum the older she gets.

I'd say the overview in the current industry development clearly don't fit this kind of show, and that is why I love it, outstanding part of relationship development which explains why it isn't always easy in life

this last episode so great i bumped the score from 8/10 to 9/10!!!
quad dismount is very hard to achieve because even triple dismount is already rare to accomplish!
it was also great to see Aragaki Family see the ballet performance of our new Leo!
Britney's gargantuan shout was priceless!
Nice work Big Bird!

It ended on a high note at the very least but it bothers me that a lot of these quirky characters outside of Leo, Jotaro, and Rachel are not even utilized well, just beats the point of it all honestly. Damn Rachel grew up so fast after 2 years, probably moreso because of the longer hair though
