Wow, Nagare reached a new low this episode. Interesting to see more about his character though especially his past. I find his motivations to be rather strange considering his role up to this point of the story. Oh and nice muscles

I find the battle between him and Tora to be crazy LOL. Both characters are like maniacs when they are in a fighting mood. Good fight though. 4/5

I teared up a little during this episode

Between the scene with Ushio and Asako and then the fight between Nagare and Tora, my emotions were too much to handle

I really didn't understand the Nagare act... It was so strange and even considering his backstory and meet with Hakumen minion, it was quite pointless for a character like him.
Beside that, the fight against Tora was so awesome! They were like going all out with the setting of the fight damn right!
The little reunion between Ushio and Asano was touching and Ushio's threatening face was so funny!

That Nagare x Tora battle... I'm totally speechless. Even hard to focus on any other thing that happened in the episode like Asako's suddenly appeared or how can Ushio use his spear for getting into the submarine.
If only... IF ONLY Tora can beat Nagare without have to bite his neck. Maybe Nagare can realize what he did wrong in the first place.

Damn the whole interaction with Tora and Nagare was really awesome.
The fight was insanely good and really well done.
It kinda sucks it overshadowed Ushio's confession to Asako, which had me going crazy!

Really awesome episode, and looking forward to next week. "Mother"!

Damn that was an intense fight. Maybe I wasn't fully paying attention, but what exactly did Nagare's backstory have to do with why he joined Hakumen's side? His encounter with that Hakumen minion seems to be the only thing that seemed to be significant in his decision to go over to that side. Or was it just to give him some more characterization? Anyway, RIP Nagare.

Oh yeah, Asako and Ushio had their little love moment.....didn't really care for that tbh, all of the highlights of this episode belonged to Nagare and Tora.

Anime did not explain it clear enough.
Nagare was too good at anything. He just needed to work hard a little bit and he would be no. 1. Eventually he decided not to work hard on anything. He's lost interest in life, until he got defeated by Tora during their first encounter. That's the first time in many years he felt the"wind" (the thrill) again. He wanted to fight Tora again, with both of them no holding back. Hakumen knew this and successfully made use of it.

Man, this season just hasn't had the impact I thought it would on me.

Didn't really like the change for the whole Asako part but I can see why they changed it to fit into the small episode count for this season but the fight did help turn that around for the rest of the episode.
Really looking forward to the rest of this and hope they will wrap it up nicely

What an episode. As usual, high in the action and animation quality was superb.
But honestly, Ushiro's scary face looked more like a funny face. I guess he's just too honest with himself to lie like that.

This was a great episode in terms of the range of emotions shown both between Ushio & Asako during their brief reunion, and between Nagare & Tora during their fight. The action in this episode was superbly animated. However, I just honestly couldn't understand the reasoning behind the whole "Nagare betrayal" act and that conclusion didn't really help things out either. There just was never enough to flesh out the reasons behind Nagare's "betrayal" and maybe there is more content in the manga that makes the audience buy this all a little more.

Anyway, RIP bro. Glad that the "wind finally stopped blowing" (aka stupid reasoning).

Yeah nagare's betrayal is probably the worst written part of this show for me, it was so fucking random and haphazardly introduced yet abruptly concluded that it weakened everything about it, the fight was cool as hell but this all just left a sour taste in my mouth which ultimately boiled down to nothing more than just a cheap conflict to pad the time, there should have been more foreshadowing for this sort of event than just randomly making an ally want to destroy everything and stab all those in the back especially when you portray his relationships to those allies as genuine in the end anyway.

the ushio and asako scene in addition to the fight being pretty entertaining despite the awful writing leading up to it were what saved the episode.

Nagare's betrayal was bullshit, even in the manga, but the way Tora reacts to killing him is one of the highlights of the series, and the anime really did the scene justice.

Anyone else notice that Nagare has nipple tassels? Can't believe I didn't see it sooner.

Asako is looking pretty damn good for someone that had 2rd-3rd degree burns mere days ago. Must be that Kappa grass. And that confession...was that the first time Ushio has said it? At any rate, didn't look like she heard it though the window. If these two don't end up together by the end of the series I'm going to flip my shit.

Everything about Nagare annoys me, like anyway I'm seeing him explained. I even refuse to acknowledge this as an epic fight because of it, this is a really terrible episode for me, especially since Ushio and the girls emotional stuff was put in the bg for this lame Nagare explanation.

1) If it's because he was too powerful and had to be lazy until he found a good opponent in Tora was his reasoning for doing this it's total bs because Hakumen No Mono is clearly stronger than Tora, and why wouldn't he try to test such a legendary evil unstoppable force? Like seriously, how can you decide to coast and be lazy when you're no where near as strong as the strongest thing in the world? Hell I wonder if that Avatar of Hakumen could of kicked his ass.

2) If it's because Ushio looked at him too purely and it put too much pressure on him, I guess I can understand the logic behind it at least. STILL, that makes him so pathetic of a character, understandable, but pathetic and a figure I can't respect. I completely agree with Tora's trash talking about him, scared of a little kids eyes, like wtf LMAO I can't believe it.

3) If it was partly both 1 and 2 combined, that just combines worst of both worlds to me.

And another thing because the more I think about it the more confused I become! The reaction to him being so talented seems like utter nonsense and garbage to me. Maybe it's because I'm thinking in a now era state of mind, but I don't understand how this epic genius who is awesome at everything would be treated the way he was to the point he had to worry about him mom being harassed and everyone trying to take him out? I mean I get people would be jealous, but THAT jealous to leave death wishes printed on his house? More importantly, wouldn't the jealously be immensely overshadowed by the pride and praise the people of his vicinity would have for him? Wouldn't they try to make him a city/national icon if his talents were so epic? Why didn't school higher ups try to take advantage of him to be a mascot or hyper of their school talent if he was such a genius?

In fact, he wasn't even a simple nerd, he seemed to have been a jock sports genius too, where were his crew of kissups that'd for sure be his clique who'd beat up those randoms who tried to fight him, or his fangirls since he seems to be a some what handsome character on top of his uber talent. Hell even if he was unlikeable where he'd refuse to allow others to hang out with him, or follow him around, I still don't see how he wouldn't have been a school legend they appreciate from afar where'd they'd not let random people completely trash his house and jump him.

I mean if he was a woman I could understand stone age beliefs back then might have considered him to be a witch or some kind of dark arts, but I didn't think they had that for males. The only thing to explain why they'd act like that is if they thought he was some sort of bad omen or some voodoo cursed type character, but they didn't portray that like people those he was a demon or something.

The fight was epic, but I cannot help but think that Nagare's arc could have been handled in a better way. I can understand his reason to betray his allies, but the explanation was very short and imo, needed more than one episode to explain it.

Good to know I'm not alone. Like most people in this thread, Nagare's motivations confused me. Whether it was rushed or also like this in the manga, this episode was my least favorite of the season. His betrayal was too sudden, and his death at the end of this episode didn't have much of an impact on me.

Otherwise, the scenes with Ushio and Asako were fine. And Tora's reaction to Nagare's death was interesting.

This episode here was the one that started the big peak in this series. That fight was intense.

For me, Nagare-niichan became one of the best male characters this year. I found his motivations easy to get, though i understand the confusion some had with them since they were meant to be irregular and unrelatable. Tora was pretty baffled too; normies don't get the woes of geniuses.

Yeah, I like the manga design more; it's got feathered tapering across the front instead of tassels. Why would that even be a man's jacket, seriously?

I wish Ushio would have heard that Asako didn't care if he even became a monster. She doesn't remember him, but she still *feels* him and all those past times are still inside her, even if she can't recall them.

Her and Mayuko are a lot alike then; Mayuko loves Tora, even though he's a monster. Asako would feel the same way if Ushio became the same.

I look forward to reading Nagare's end in the manga, since I know the anime changed some things, but every time I have an issue with this series, it turns out to be the subtitles instead.

Mediocre subtitles can ruin any good episode. So, I really want to see the whole picture and fix them.
Life can be cruel and unfair. At worst it can traumatize and cripple you. The desire for wanting things to return to the way they were can cost everything and changes nothing. The best way is to keep moving forward, struggle on.
Anger can be powerful but can only get you so far. Let people into your life even if some of them leave you in time.

Fight. Like. Hell. For everything and everyone you love. Always.
