Hmm, this episode was more serious than I had expected with frequency 77.4MHz being part of the show's plot. The case was okay, wasn't exciting imo but glad they came together to resolve it. Chika in a ponytail this episode looked adorable :o

That Radio show sure help, seriously. She ask to the elder, and get that most wise answer she maybe didn't expect it.
A little too late for you to notice that voice in the radio, Chika-chan. LOL

There goes another of Haruta's sign of...

Chika's notorious flute skills saved the day again!!

Seems the mining club has some interesting members or better said some very troublesome members.
Tho their leader wasn't as bad as they where saying she was.
I would like to see more of her tho.

This was also the first time we saw Chika's mother who seems like a nice person.

Nice episode. Haruta and Chika reach out to not only the goddess of the mining club but also a potential member for their own. Interesting how the scenario was set on the radio.

Liked the radio aspect, but IMO the rest of the episode wasn't really that interesting. That and well Chika acted a lot more arrogant this episode. Well she was being made of, but still.

What kind of radio advice program would so openly mess with a fourteen year-old girl calling in about wanting to die? I was pretty frustrated at the initial misplaced comedy, but it gave a glimmer of hope with the one old guy’s drunken ramblings about seeing the sunlight in a different way to stay positive. It obviously angered her too, and she focused that anger in all of the right places!

The rehearsal of the march from Holst’s First Suite in Eb was sounding fantastic (First suit is way better than the second). But it wouldn’t be much of a lesson on music life if they weren’t still getting chewed out by their conductor. It happens at all levels! Akari Gotou is also my new hero in this show - she should be featured any time its possible.

Seeing Chika at home studying was also a lot of fun. Talk about reduced expecations! And now, for something totally necessary:

I agree, that's how I sort of felt initially. But it makes sense why they were joking around, because a lot of people these days have similar thoughts about wanting to die, it's varies in degrees. Some people have clinical depression, while many have mild depression. Someone with major depression would not likely to call a radio program and ask for advice, and I think the people could easily see that, thus making jokes, but still tried to lightly give advice. If Akari really wanted to die, she wouldn't have felt angry at the radio hosts, which is why I liked how that went down.

You saw it as unwelcome comedy, I saw it as elder wisdom: it combines perspective shifting with an awareness of society's stereotypes of the wacky and weird elderly, which the old people in the radio show were obviously aware, and take advantage of in their supposed ramblings. Sure, the tone used by the radio roundtable were light and not serious, but like they said, its not up to the young to worry about dying, their time's almost over anyway, so let the old people worry about dying.

This is healing via. comedy in just one of its many forms: comedians can heal their own wounds by making people laugh, comedians can heal others by making them laugh, or just simply see the brighter side of life.

To be honest, I think this episode's opening scene is one of the most well done by the show thus far.

The elder's advice on the radio station might sound bad at first, but they chose their words and tone perfectly, which spurred Aso on with the pent-up anger and was able to get on with her life.

Chika's getting a bit more physical with Haruta when she gets embarrassed, landing a nice kick on him too! Akari also amusingly lashed out like a loyal puppy too. ^_^

All in all, it was an intriguing episode, and a good one too.

I would agree that it was a great scene! My comments were mostly about how it angered me in the moment, and in turn angered Aso as well. It definitely had a healing quality to it in the end-game!

That was an interesting episode.

That radio station was cool and how they told Aso how to look at the bright side through comedy and telling her that they were the ones who had to dpthink about dying.

Chika's 'study' scene was fun! Especially when wpshe noticed it was Haruta speaking on the radio. Also when Kaiyuu insulted Chika's flute playing at the end, then she and Haruta decided to go cause some trouble for the him.

Still wish they would stop the episodic problems...

This episode was kinda boring tbh.
I've got the feeling that it's just getting worse week by week I mean I was really hyped for this and the first couple episodes were really interesting because of these riddles and love triangle stuff but now it's just weekly recruiting some characters and helping them get over sth depressing or sth like that..

This episode and some of the last ones didn't even have a proper mystery in my opinion.
It's time to develop the characters more and to learn more about Senseis past !

My guess is that they are saving up for Kuromukuro. The PV is already graphically better than this episode of Haruchika.

I feel bad to be honest. I'm really enjoying Haruchika and I would like them to put their usual attentions to details in regards to let the anime shines for the eyes. That's really what is missing out of this anime.

Wow, another fantastic episode of Haruchika. I can never get over the natural human quirkiness the way it's shown in this, it's so good.

I'm really loving Chika, like she's not particularly stylized or anything but she is so much fun to watch.

I thought that radio show counselling thing was really cool. It reminds me of the kinds of things you may see in japan but would never ever happen here in the west - people are too disassociated with their emotions and unwise. The idea is a really heartwarming prospect. Also, that was some impressive tact by that elderly couple, the approach of "been there done that, you'll be fine" is very strong, even if it seems insensitive. Your problems that seem like the entire world to you, are much smaller when you see a bigger picture. And when you see the biggest picture, problems are virtually insignificant.

Episode in which I still appreciate the change of course taken from the narrative. More usable and interesting, the story despite the many gags, it is not boring because of the mysteries that are encountered during the story. Drawings and animations are not the best of their ability, nice scenery, but there are a few glimpses, what a pity! There are still flaws that need to be "filed" but it seems to have embarked on the right path. Curious to see the next episode.

Old folks on radio were funny, that wisdom really comes thru. Angst girl transformed into some geology goddess. Suicide is a serious topic, though glad how she saved herself catalyzed by the initial anger.
Nice shin & side kicks.
Chika in ponytail
"happiness koalas" Chika what even?
Sly Desert Rabbit socially at a disadvantage? But recent episodes he's getting more in heat for sensei.
Kaiyuu, long awaited drummer in OP is here. I like how everyone & everything connects.

This episode... At some point, I got so absorbed in it that I totally lost track of time. That all beautifully connected to Serizawa. Now, she can join the club along with Kaiyu, heck yeah. Plus they got the budget, too. More focus on Chika. Also, I like it when Haruta goes all I-love-sensei mode far more than his knows-it-all mode.

Honestly, my favorite episode so far.
