I've been watching anime for longer than I care to remember.
Believe it or not but I became interested after reading a rather expressive inscription "eva rulez" on a table in one of lecture halls in university I attended. At the time I had no idea what it was about, but for some inexplicable reason it stuck in my head for years and eventually led me to fandom.
My first titles were Azumanga Daioh and Noir. I wanted to watch Evangelion, of course (by then I knew what that exclamation was about), but was deemed not ready. What was going through that guy's head when he chose these two I'll never understand. Azumanga Daioh was like "what the hell is this"; it was goddamn awful for uninitiated. Noir was OK, I liked the music. Still took me months and several restarts to actually watch it to the end though. All in all it put a damper on my enthusiasm about anime.
But enigmatic, strange, and elusive eva still called to me, so at some point I did get my hands on it (again, through heavy scepticism of people involved in this quest).
And my life had changed. I loved it.
I know, I know, it all sounds overly dramatic, and frankly I'm writing this with a smile on my face, and maybe embellishing it all just a little bit. However, this doesn't make the core of it less true. (And that bit about inscription is definitely true! My life is sometimes weird like that).
Time have passed, lots of fun have been had, lots of time have been wasted on less than perfect production. Some nice people were met through common interest and left to go their own ways since.
I'm still enjoying anime. While my attitude towards it now is more of a consumer than a die-hard fan, and I consider most of what I watch a rather mindless entertainment for times when I'm too tired to do anything more mentally taxing, I still think there are some genuine gems out there. (And let's not underestimate the value of quality mindless entertainment either! There are certainly worse ways to spend your downtime.)
What else?
My ratings for recently watched titles are almost completely based on enjoyment in the moment. However, they occasionally get adjusted according to whether I remember anything about the title later on, and whether the memories are good. A six can mean anything between "it was OK" and "I liked it a lot but it was long ago and looking back I really have no idea why". All in all they aren't very consistent.
My other hobbies are books and music. My old favorite was Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga. My most recent discovery was Greg Egan. But it's getting very hard to find decent read after I read HPMOR :(
Music is a long story; my taste is all over the place, so here is just a tiny tiny snapshot. This track never fails to bring smile on my face. :) Sorry if it weirded you out, the video is from completely different fandom, but I think it fits :-D If you want an example closer to anime, look no further than Zankyou no Terror soundtrack. Or... But I'll stop here, I can talk forever about music I like.
Thanks for reading; don't hesitate to say hi if you feel like it.
P.S. Almost forgot. I'm a cat person. (This is, of course, very important.)
Hey man! Natsume Yuujinchou definitely Was a wild ride, I think I would have appreciated it way more though if I'd have watched it slower, like an ep or 2 a week. But definitely a very good experience! Actually I Kind of stoppen watching anime seasonally, so I cant recommend anything for now :(
Have a great new year!
Haha, it is still pretty wicked. Just no longer regarded with that innocent wonder that accompanies childhood. In fact, I eagerly await season 3 of code geass. I heard it comes out this year? Not too sure but that is definitely a series to catch.
Actually no, I don't :p Guess I just watched it because it was still enjoyable, some of his arguments are right, yes. But tbh, for me it felt pretty natural. ^^
I'm glad you enjoyed Bungou! I think you don't really need to know all the references, I didn't know many of them too (Edogawa Ranpo was a very exceptional writer, apparently). Yuri on Ice is actually an original, I like how they handle the main romance in a way that it seems casual even though they are 2 dudes and in Japan homosexuality is regarding as a not-to-talk-about-topic. But I think the ending was lacking some ^^
Hey there! I'm fine, how about you? Not sure whether you're interested in sequels, but I only watched Yuri on Ice as "season 1", which was pretty entertaining. Other than that I can definitely recommend watchíng Ajin S2 and Haikyuu! S3. Bungou Stray Dogs S2 was very entertaining for me, but not sure if it's something for everyone. I personally want to watch Fune wo Amu and 3-gatsu no Lion, but I can't say how good it is ^^
I actually didn't plan on watching it. My new semester just started so I don't have as much time as I'd like to have (and I already have so many animes in my list ^^')
But I'll definitely keep it in my and probably give it a try, thank you :3
I sort of picked it back up. I watched episodes 1-6 as they were airing like 2 years ago, and then I just recently rewatched episodes 1-7. And.... kind of stopped. School work is taking up most of my time lol
So far, I like it and dislike it at the same time. A lot of the dialogue comes off as really stupid if not downright nonsensical and pretentious. But the premise and story are intriguing enough to keep me interested. I'll finish it eventually...
And thanks for complementing the pic haha, I saw it and immediately knew it had to go on my profile <3

Secretly evil? Downside? If I tell you anything, I'll have to kill you.
