THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well this was quite similar to the movie.

Loads of action in the first half to capture the thrill of the audience while we also get an OP song (quite neat imo). The CGI in the TV series is pretty much the same as the movie as well but pretty fit for the show. Got used to it right away. Kei isn't much of an interesting character yet so have to keep watching for more. I think this was a rather good set up for the rest of the season. The special effects of the Ajin's particles is well done imo.

That CGI is damn awful!!
It sucks all of the atmosphere out of what could've been a really intense and great first episode...I was so excited when this got greenlit, but it just looks like some low budget PC game from the early 2000's!
I appreciate that studios are trying to save money and try new things but imo it just doesn't work.

What a waste! Sigh...I guess I'll go on to the manga instead.

7.5/10 for now. It was a good star imo, the sountrack was fitting to the type of show and the CGI wasn't bad, still i'm not used to it so it felt a little bit weird.

Wow, that was intense! My heart is still burning inside. Oh boy, the thrills! I'm still feeling them in my body.

10/10 for this first episode. I want to read the manga, but I don't know if that would kill the thrills of the anime for me. Sigh~

Another anime that's so engrossed in its own story, it doesn't think of anything else, everything is flowing naturally, nothing feels forced, it's just effortless, just the pure unfolding of a story. I can't help but be taken and submerged into it. I love this kind of stories! purehearted.

As for the animation and the CG, I was uncomfortable at first. But, in the climax of the episode, I think it helped build the atmosphere and produce tension in the viewers. It added to the happenings more touch of concreteness and realism.

And haha i dunno why but i find the ending song video a bit funny. it shouldn't be, right? ugh. XD

Whoa~ Mamoru Miyano! Just great, great. Can't get any better. XD

Shitty subs but I love the cg as it's done by Polygon pictures, the same guys that did Knights of Sidonia.

Story seems really interesting and I'm eager to see where this will go.

A definite keeper for this season.

That's one intense episode. Good job Polygon Pictures! The preview of the next episode has the same style as Knights of Sidonia (also animated by the same studio) where they play the preview with a music without voice. The CGI doesn't bother me much since I already watched two seasons of Sidonia.

Nice OP and ED Theme! Can't wait for the next episode!

The CGI doesn't really bother me that much.
Nagai getting hit by that truck and reviving again.
Looks like his face is now broadcasted to the public.
At least he has got Kai to help him out.
Wonder what other abilities Aijin's have besides being immortal?

It doesn't matter.
They are basically the same thing.
But the TV series will finish airing first (it'll end towards the end of March) while the movies are still gonna take a while (2nd screens in May so BDs in the Summer and the 3rd movie will almost be next year).

I don't think TV will cover all three movies. Maybe they rush things later on, but first episode was great in terms of pacing. As a marketing course, it is not very smart-make TV version, then make movie with same TV-scenes. I understand, if it will be like Shingeki, when they make recap movie because of big popularity of series.
About TV version. How much it will be covered?

P.S. CGI food looks strange. Aside from that, i have no complaints.

I have pretty mixed feelings about this ep? I know people are bashing on the CGI and I'm not particularly a fan of it in general.. But it wasn't bad! And I defintely think I'll get used to it after a few eps.

The thing that really caught my attention was the audio; the sound effects for the Ajin scenes were so fitting :o And the OP was a-ok

So yeah I'm looking forward to next week's ep! Hopefully it'll continue to stay faithful to the manga too :o

Complaining about the CGI won't change anything, so there's no point in doing so, but it was all right. I got used to it pretty early into the episode.

It wasn't much of a shocker that the MC was an Ajin. I look forward to learning more about them and seeing how the MC avoids the police and whatnot. Overall, this got off to a decent start, hopefully it can keep this up and remain somewhat interesting.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Not bad for the CGI, remind me of Sidonia. And pretty good for the opening. Still it's just first episode, so there's still time for another "judge".

One of the more exciting first episodes I've seen this season.

While I would've preferred 2D animation, I didn't think the CGI was terrible. It was bearable at the very least. The subs I watched seemed to be done by somebody who didn't fully speak both English and Japanese, so that kind of sucked.

I see a good amount of people liked the OP, but I didn't care for it too much. Maybe it will grow on me.

Overall, I'm looking forward to next week's episode.

It's the first time I've watched a CGI anime and it didn't look as bad as I expected. The subs where I watched it didn't make sense half the time though.
The opening is good as well, as is the rest of the soundtrack in this episode.

The subs were terribad and damn near incomprehensible at times, but at this point getting any is much appreciated. On the bright side, the CGI is nowhere near as bad as I had feared it would be. Of course, I'd still prefer 2D animation to CGI, but I can live with this.

As for the episode, it more or less follows what I remember of the first chapter of the manga, except with a few extra bits here and there (primarily that bit at the start, which I do not remember seeing in the first chapter of the manga). It was definitely as interesting as expected based on that, and seeing how it all plays out will be interesting as well.

Also, I'm loving that OP and the ED is very good as well.

I was so happy they decided to adapt the manga.

Lets face it, the CGI isn't ideal at all and 2D would have been a much better suit.
Although it wasn't even close to the train wreck that i had thought this was going to be.

It isn't correctly subbed until now. Every streaming site is using the shitty subs. Guess, you'll have to wait until proper subbers pick it up.
