I did learn Korean for a few months, but ultimately decided it might be better to focus solely on Japanese instead of trying to learn two Asian languages simultaneously. Good decision in retrospect!

Well, hotels are booked and we are going to Japan for a couple months in September. It'll be nice to get away from the land of the homeless and crackheads for a while.

I must admit that I still am that very passionate doremi fan, I can't seem to find any other show that I am as emotionally invested in as doremi, especially since I recently rewatched it and fell in love with it again. Hey, even if it's just little by little, you'll still notice the increase in Japanese ability as the years go by.

I'm in a similar situation with my third language (German), which I desperately wish to continue learning, but struggle to set adequate time aside for.

Thanks for the kind words. Me and my wife live together in Canada now, but it was rough when COVID first hit. Now we're just passing the time until Japan finally opens its borders again, whether it be for a visit or a permanent move back.

Yeah, I still read in Japanese on a daily basis, which helps with kanji and such.

As for speaking, I speak Japanese at home since my wife is Japanese and doesn't feel comfortable with English yet. But during the year she wasn't here (COVID border lockdowns), my speaking skills in Japanese did indeed get quite rusty!

I've been doing good! Back in Canada after what happened with COVID, although the possibility of moving back to Japan is still something I'm thinking about. If I do move back at some point in the next year or so it would have to be a permanent move this time around.
