Cool, I liked the cartoony sequences in the beginning of the episode.

Episode seems kinda lighthearted.
Interesting to see Hyakki making an on screen appearance. About time. And quite an interesting arm he's got there.....

For a series that takes place in this time setting, they have already began to explore the idea of robotics. I found that kinda neat.

Man what is with this series and introducing really cool characters....And I honestly didn't know that prosthetics existed in this time period so that we pretty interesting to see

I absolutely LOVE Hyakki and man my respect for him I through the roof....Seeing him with Mio and Roro made things even better for me and I like the relationship that he has with Hazama and the guy that saved his life

Still, what this other doctors did to him was disgusting and honestly I won't won't surprised nor will I care if they both did next week I have their careers ruined.....

The sad thing about it is that I think Hyakki is going to most likely be like some main antagonist or villain now :( And I have a bad feeling that he and Mio's relationship will get destroyed somehow

The result of the surgery that Hazama performed on Hyakki was pretty cool, with the robotic limbs and whatnot.

I felt bad for Hyakki since he won't be able to perform that operation. I feel like that will affect him greatly, and the narrator mentioning that he'll be lead down unexpected paths because of his surgery also makes me feel like he'll become super corrupted in the future.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Really sad he wasn't able to do the surgery and all, but I am glad that his prosthesis works better now and will allow him to do more things.

Excellent episode. Very interested too see what Hyakki is gonna do from now on, Wonder how his and Hazama's paths will cross.

I wanted to see at least a little more of the surgery on Hyakki. Though the result was really cool.

Each episode is undoubtedly great. I like the fact that intersting characters are being presented to us these episodes onwards; unlike the first few where the charas were total, hard-to-stand idiots.

I think this episode grabbed my attention the most in this series. Hyakki's awesome with all those prosthetic limbs. Sad that things didn't go out how is could have been. Hope Hyakki finds a new ambition :D

That was so good! One of my favorites episodes so far. I haven't read Dororo yet but it was nice to see the characters in this episode. The robotic limbs were really cool, and I felt bad for Hyakki in the end, I wonder what's gonna happen to him next. I'm really looking forward to the next episode

From what they said it sounded like the three evil doctors actually tried to kill Hyakki. At the very least they would have been happy with him dead. I wonder what he did to make them loathe him so much?

Mamo as Hyakki and Midorikawa Hikaru as Takara, nice. Hyakki's scream at the end was really well done, you could really hear the pain, anguish, and frustration, as it looked like he overheard about what the doctors had planned.

They omitted a lot of stuff from the 3.5 chapters that was adapted in this episode, but it works well, I think. It was a nicer transition into this arc than the abrupt start in the manga, too. I also liked how the surgery was done differently here, in that Hyakki had more trust in Hazama to do the surgery and they had to done a simulation beforehand. Hyakki seems like such a kindhearted person, it's tragic that so much was lost due to the "accident."

Looks like there will two more episodes in this arc, given that ANN has Mamo and the other characters in this episode listed from episode 9-11. Wonder what the last episode will be?

So, these characters are based off of Osamu Tezuka's Dororo manga? Although some may see it as recycling ideas, I think this is more of an homage to Tezuka's legacy. Makes me feel like all his characters share the same universe. Before you know it, Hazama might use Hyakki's papers to save a kid who becomes Astro Boy.

Guessing from the spoiler OP and this episode, Hyakki will go down a darker path to become a katana-wielding villain and murder some people, starting with his "friends" whom I suspect threw him under the bus by leaking the photos. In fact, I think his car's breaks were sabotaged by those same 3 doctors (can't be bothered to remember their names so I'm calling them Fish-Eyes, Spider-Head, Ghost-Face), who probably thought he was gaining too much and tried to kill him. Yeah, now I don't feel so bad anymore about what's probably coming to those guys.

Great episode. I think this final arc will be interesting.
And i can predict what happened to his limbs. he said accident, but the truth, somenone cut his car break. I kinda disappointed that they didn't show the surgery scene, i want to see it though. The robotic arms and legs look cool to me, really useful obviously.

in the beginning scene, before the OP, i have a thought "you ain't gonna tell me this is a YAOI anime" i almost drop this anime just because of that.

Even the original Black Jack manga had cameos from various Tezuka characters, which was cool. Rather than recycling designs, in his case it was like the actual characters had cameos. And yeah, every character related to Hyakkimaru was pretty much from the Dororo manga, like those three doctors. Since there are only three episodes left, and the next one will finish this story, guess Sapphire from Princess Knight (last character in the ending before Hazama) will be in the final arc of the show.

There's nothing to predict, it's pretty much confirmed that those three were behind that.

It was a good episode. It's such a shame that the show is almost over. Hope they announce a second season some day, I'd love more of this. Or maybe even make another Black Jack TV show.

ANN has the VAs for this arc listed as ep.9-11, and assuming they're correct, the arc should go until episode 11. That would leave Sapphire's arc to be only one episode...which would be really rushing it given that it's 5 chapters. But it would work well as the ending of the anime series. There's 13 chapters for the current Hyakki arc, so even 3 episodes is barely enough, but that leads me to believe that ANN is right about this arc going for two more episodes. But yeah, I would like more of YBJ as well. I'll watch Black Jack one day...

Found strange how he and Hazama appear as rivals on the opening but, by the beginning of this episode, they appear as very well friends

I'd love more of Hyakki, but I'd also love more of Sapphire. Guess I can't have both. Still, one episode with Sapphire is better than nothing.

If you want more of Black Jack, watch the OVA from the 90s. It's considered as the best in the franchise, since it's well written and well, directed by Osamu Dezaki. It's much more darker and mature than the Black Jack TV shows, but I can't speak about them as I haven't seen them. And the manga is pretty good as well, if you don't mind old Tezuka.

Can't have it all is right :( If only this was a 13 episode series, then it would've been perfect.

The OVA, it's this one http://myanimelist.net/anime/1520/Black_Jack?q=black%20jack right? I'll try it out maybe soon then, thanks! And yeah, I actually read a volume of Black Jack when YBJ just began, I think it's good so far, but haven't been reading more. I'll finish it though, one day. I don't mind old Tezuka.

Funnily enough, I’m watching the 2019 Dororo adaptation, and even though I’m only partway through, it’s cool seeing these alternate versions of Mio, Dororo, Tanosuke, Lord Sabame, Tahomaru, and of course Hyakkimaru.

Unfortunately I think I had something spoiled for me without meaning too... :/

Completely forgot that they were by the same author.

I definitely didn't expect to see Hyakki and Dororo to be in Young Blackjack's character list but it was a very pleasant surprise to see that they were included in a really interesting way that wasn't as silly as I thought it would've been.

It's too bad that things still don't go too well for Hyakkimaru even in modern times, though.
