Kakyoin's spooky adventure. I've always loved the concept of Death 13.
Also, those awesome colors, and the creepy surrounding reminded me of Justice's fight. As expected DP.

I didn't remember this much gore in this fight. Poor dog.
Those eyes ... Eek.
Feels bad for Kakyoin.

Btw, the reference of the day is Freddy Krueger.

Death 13 is awesome when it comes to creativity. Ah Kakyoin is not having much fun with this one.

Lali-ho!

Great ep. Man that was over the top on that dog death there. I was waiting for this stand and it didn't disappoint at all. I can't wait for next week for the next part of this!

And that is officially Joseph's fourth time crashing a plane XD

I adore the funky colors of the dream world. They're seriously going all out with the spurts of blood from any cut orifice.

I just want to point out that none of Josephs 4 plane crashes were his fault, so stop giving him the tude Jotaro.

Unfortunately I was spoiled about Death's stand user, but it turned out that there wasn't really any suspense anyway since as soon as you saw the baby's creepy vampire smile it's kind of impossible to not suspect him. Still a really good episode, looking forward to how they're gonna beat him, and as always loving the blatant horror movie homages.

Damn. Kakyoin's dream was terrifying, especially the continuation of it. Eye balls to shut his mouth!? >.< . That dream world was quite creepy too!

As always, Polnareff is too slow to realize the situation but his carefree behavior before Death 13 appeared was pretty funny!

Joseph did a great job at recovering from crashing initially but still couldn't avoid his bad luck with airplane. XD . This makes the 4th time?!

In the face of such a formidable Stand, Kakyoin's attempt to remember the concept of it's ability by carving the keyword on his arm with a knife was brilliant!

Awesome episode! I wonder how'd they deal with the baby. Kill him? Or, something else? O.o

Polnareff is so dense, it's embarrassing =__=.
And WTF, I want to bitch slap Kakyoin for not showing them the message. Such dumbness è_é.
It's not going to end well, I'm afraid.

The very first plane crash he was in was caused by him knocking out the pilot with his Ripple.

Oh you know what I meant. YES OKAY technically it was his fault, but he wouldn't have crashed any of the 4 times if he wasn't attacked first.

For me, this is where SC really picks up with its stand fights and I can confidently say it only gets better from here on out.

Anyway, by far my favourite episode so far. The pacing and atmosphere was brilliant, the colour palate in the dream sequence was brilliant and the overall animation was great. That air plane free fall sequence was hilarious and DP really stepped up in making it feel exciting with cross cutting between the dream and Jotaro and Joseph's banter in the real world. I literally laughed out loud when they crashed into a palm tree. Jotaro's reaction and it suddenly zooming out onto the world map and doing the whole crash description was priceless. Let's hope DP can keep it up in the next episode and not drop the ball like Emperor and Hanged Man part 2, Justice Part 2 and Lovers Part 2.

Nani..?

It was the other way around for me. I thought the 1st parts of those corresponding Stand battles were more 'meh' than the respective 2nd bits.

Part 2 of the Emperor/Hanged just didn't have the same energy and quality of direction that Part 1 did. It was still good, but not as good as part 1. Part 2 of Justice was fun, but it was DEFINITELY a budget episode. And Lovers in general had absolutely no business being 2 parts in the first place and felt unnecessarily dragged out.

This Stand is a great antagonist. No one would suspect him and even less touch the Stand user.

I consider the next battle to be quite possibly the absolute worst stand battle, not just in Stardust Crusaders, but in all of JJBA.

But besides that one, yes, the stand battles from this point on are all of a much higher standard.

I predicted Kakyoin writing "Baby Stand" on his arm, it'd be the only way to let his real life self know what's going on! I wonder how they will handle the baby from now on.

"Baby... STANDO!"
Just love the difference between the perfectly pronounced "baby" and the deliberately engrish "STANDO".

Oh, and best Stardust Crusaders episode yet. Death 13 is hands down the sickest Stand we've been able to see so far. Lali-fucking-ho, niqqa!

Can someone please tell me what 'lali-ho' means? I've tried looking and can't find anything but Final Fantasy references which doesn't help.

By the way episode 19 was by far the best episode of Part 3 I mean come on, I created an account just to reply to this thread because it was just that good. Death 13 is exactly what I would picture a person's nightmare to look like so kudos to Araki that was awesome.

If you're talking about the "mosh-pit" segment of Justice Part 2 - I know it didn't look quite as good as in the OVA, but I thought it felt more quick & comical, which seemed fitting. And yes, I would like the next fight to be condensed at least a little, if even that's asking for too much.

I'm not sure myself, but I do know that this part of Stardust Crusaders preceded Final Fantasy IV. (The earliest game I've played of the series.)

All of the fights you mention are the same length, so they all have the same "business" being two parts.

I disagree with your points though. Emperor and Hanged Man 2 was perfect. It doesn't have the shock factor of a main character being killed, but everything from the car "chase" to Kakyoin's coin trick was spot on, and executed just as well as Hol Horse's introduction and the Polnareff/Avdol tension in the previous episode. Although it's sure to be dethroned by coming episodes, it's been the best two part fight so far in my book. Some of David's best work on the series period for that matter.

Lovers 2 was also superb. The main theme playing during the conclusion while the viewer anxiously awaits Jotaro to finally explode with rage that has been building up for two episodes was awesome and couldn't have been handled any better. It would have been a disservice to the payoff if they tried to cram it into one episode. And the payoff was legitimately exhilarating for that matter, absolutely perfect.

...And so we have the Stand of nightmares: Death 13. Probably the most intimidating Stand before the crusaders reach Egypt. Awfully funny how there's a dream world that a stand can enter, but a mirror world is apparently outside the realm of possibility, eh Kakyoin? -_-

That aside I am loving the colour palette that they've used for the dream world, it looks appropriately pastel :-D. Do seem to recall this fight being gorier than what it has been so far however. Perhaps I'm just misremembering.

As a side note I am curious as to how they'll be adapting the episodes before the break, considering future content...

Good thing Jojo is awesome overall or I woulda insta-dropped it for animal cruelty. Heard he does that to accurately portray evil so he can hate the villains and rejoice when they get beat up but this kinda went too far, the stand is already creepy as it is, no need for that on top of it

No sure if the author had something against dogs in the past :U
(even in the first ep of Jojo when they burned Jonathan's dog)
and lol he is a 11 months old stand user xD but well he is making
mad the poor Kakyoin....

Moral lesson of the ep: never go in a plane with Joseph NEVER xD
