Hooooooolly sh****! I read some minor spoiler about Koi, but now it's makes more sense. So this is what it's building up to.

I used to like Nadeko... but she just got way too crazy.

That continuous stabbing at Shinobu was really unbearable. T^T

Still a great ep. Excited at how this story goes..
Senjougahara: Don't call me "this chick"
Araragi: Then what should I call you?
Senjougahara: Senjougahara-sama.
Araragi: SEN - JOU - GA - HAA - RAA - SAA - MAA
Senjougahara: I don't like the way you say it. Say it properly.
Araragi: Senjougahara-chan~

friggen awesome >.< Can't wait to see how this will turn out. Love how Nadeko (or as I liked to call her Cutey Ms. Jailbait) turned into a full blown psychopath is just... delicious :D Although her stabbing Shinobu to such a degree hurt :'(

Really enjoyed this episode. I never cared for Nadeko before, but I've been really digging the way she has turned out these past couple of episodes. Now I can safely say that Hanekawa is my least liked character in this series.

Also, I'm disliking the spoilers I've been seeing in this thread, regardless of how minor they are. Perhaps this kind of stuff is common in these discussion threads, particularly when the source material is readily available, but spoiler tags would have been nice...

That was amazing!!!

Totally didn't expect it'll go like that. So we're gonna have a few arcs before these 6 months happen? How many arcs btw? For LN readers?

It was nice seeing the parts that connected between the lines when Nadeko was talking with Kuchinawa. Damn she seems to forget a lot of things lol. That's some first degree escapism there.

Nadeko going full psycho Yandere mode was brilliantly done.
Koyomi was brutally skewered all over XD
Shinobu getting stabbed while she was on the ground was cringe worthy :(

Then we had Yandere vs Yandere. Nice going Hitagi. But shit! I forgot how much of a yandere Hitagi could be too. Killing everyone if Koyomi dies hahaha XD

And finally Dat Trailer!!!! So Epic!!!! Adult Shinobu??? Can't wait!!!

Okay, I am seriously confused right now. Does everyone actually die 6 months from now in a fight with Nadeko? This seems to be what Nadeko is aiming for and showing us at the end--but I just can't imagine any of the main cast dying.

And honestly, although the character development is superb, it was a little hard to watch when Nadeko continually stabbed them. It also feels quite weird that Nadeko would become the final boss. Overall, this arc just gives me an uneasy feeling.

Things have turned out very nicely. The Monogatari franchise has always been about teenager's problems wrapped in supernatural disguise but Nadeko's case has topped everything shown so far.

▶ A socially awkward teenage girl, overwhelmed by her new-found sexual feelings and social pressure, trying to cope with new responsibilites she's obviously not cut out for. Conflicting emotions and attempts at keeping up appearances while feeling tired of hiding what she's really thinking coupled with severly low self-esteem have caused the situation to escelate. The twist with her conversations with the Snake god having been part of her delusions all along ("Delusion Express", anyone?) is telling for her state of mind. Unwilling to accept the negative parts of her personality and change them accordingly she deludes herself into thinking everything as an act forced upon her by a third party, once again freeing herself from the respnsibility of facing the consequences of her actions. Her victim act has been ingrained into her way too long to control it consciously anymore.

▶ She "victimizes" others by manipulating them into granting her previleges using her cute looks but loathes herself for doing so, at least unconsciously, coming from a tiny portion of bad conscience.
However, much of that is swept away by her self-centered, spoilt personality.
Not being able to make her old formula work anymore, after one character after another reprimands her on her behaviour and last but not least, getting bereaved of her space to retreat to by losing her bangs, goes on the offensive, lashing out frantically as her carefully built up image of herself crumbles to pieces.

▶ Metaphorically speaking she shed off her old skin and transformed into a new person, fully aware of her feelings and character traits, no longer trying to deny them. As such you could say she has found enlightment and as a result ascended to a deity-like status, immune to the verbal attacks she has been subjected to since the beginning of this arc.

However, she is not a god of the benevolent but rather destructive kind, which is being reflected in her twisted mindstate and delusions. For the first time she has taken control of her life wittingly but she's unstable and has detached herself from the real proportions of her problems.
I guess, she just needs to outgrow her pubescent phase (as cynical that might sound), so the time period Senjougahara gained through her negotiations mght just prove to be pivotal for a successful outcome. After all, each haremette's arc has been (at least partly) resolved by the respective girl gaining self-awareness.

▶ I will confess that I chuckled a bit at the first part with Koyomi treating Sengoku like a sucide bomber trying to convince her to put her weapon down before she blows everyone up, though with no success since he and Shinobu end up as collateral damage anyway.

▶ Ougi Oshino, you sly fox... Of course, Sengoku already had psychopathic tendencies even before she came into picture but there is no doubt that it was her who gave Sengoku the last push to act on those mentioned tendencies by implanting the needed knowledge to form her plans.
Ougi continues being a meta-character who proved to be especially interesting with her comments about Sengoku's part only being a side-story, which fittingly describes her arc in Bakemonogatari, and look how things eventually turned out: From just another haremette Nadeko has transformed into the final boss, at least for this season., which probably shouldn't be a surprise under Ougi's guidance.
After all we're speaking of the person who turned a lecture revolving around trivial facts about traffic lights to one about impoverished children in war zones living in constant alert.

Speaking of narratives, overall the whole arc plays out like a Greek tragedy. The end is already given away at the start when Sengoku stresses the inevitability of the turn of events, making it sound like a predetermined path, a prophecy in reverse, basically.

Sengoku as the tragic hero starts off as the lovable and pure-hearted girl whose hidden secrets gets exposed one after another accompanying her inevitable downfall as result of her hybris: Several times she gets the chance to turn back, to call for help but each time she turns it down for selfish and underhanded reasons such as keeping up her image as a good girl.

Last but not least, the greek mythos of the gorgon Medusa her final supernatural form is modeled after: A beautiful girl who gets cursed out of superficial ill-will and turns into a deadly, hideous creature. Koyomi will have to play the role of Perseus and maybe something resembling the winged horse Pegasus will jump out from Nadeko's lifeless decapitated head in the end. That would certainly be a sight to behold.

▶ As for immersing moments, Studio Shaft delivered an incredibly impressive audiovisual feast in this arc (which naturally applies to the rest of the season). The stark contrast in color palette and lighting depending on the mood of the characters are striking to watch, highlighting every scene in the best way possible, which especially worked with the physical and mental changes Sengoku underwent in these episodes. Senjougahara's call iterally translates into a beacon of light, a break from the moody and desolate scenery usually present at the shrine. Using a orchestral version of the opening song "Delusion Express" for the "trailer" was pretty neat and got me completely pumped up for the final showdown.

Personally, Otorimonogatari will go down as one of my favorite arcs front this franchise. It took a severely under-developed character and gave her such a thorough characterization that used her existing traits as a foil for her true nature, making it an incredibly compelling and thrilling ride.

I WANT TO GIVE OTORI ALL OF MY 10'S!!
This is pretty much the best arc so far, I wonder if Oni and Koi will be able to top it, we will see.
I'm seriously loving Nadeko and her 'monologue', I don't know why but I just really like her character, but man is she broken...
Also Hitagi was brilliant in the last bit of conversation with Nadeko, I love her honesty.
Too bad next week we're probably getting a recap, that and Kabuki will probably be one of the reasons I won't be able to give this series a 10 as a whole.
Anyway, I'm so hyped to see the continuation of this!

I doubt they went into that fight with the mentality of beating/killing her. Most likely they wanted to make a point, similar with Kagenui and Ononoki.

Great episode. I think this is the best season of Monogatari series so far. Brilliant conversations, especially in the end Senjougahara calling Nadeko was one of the most bad ass and hilarious ones at the same time, yet. They seemed in the anime like they were one phone call away from death at her whim so it does seem like they underestimated Medusa though she was toying with them. Seems like the poison wasn't mentioned, unless I blinked and missed it there. The novel goes on about it, deadly poison but vampires can't die.

That said, one small disappointment in the adaptation was that her wish was to grow her bangs back seems to have been forgotten or at least left unsaid. In the novel it is more emphasized that she got all that and more in her wish with her hair changing into snakes. At that moment it is emphasized. That seemed lost in the last episode of the anime unless I blinked and missed it. No big thing, I just thought it was neat that she wanted her hair grown back and got it, but probably not the way she had imagined it.

best episode so far 5/5

BTW after the ED they didnt show senjougahara eye, does it implay that her eye color change or sth, mayb she turn into a vampire in order to save araragi

Now, this part is now animated.

To be fair, this is possibly one of the worst 'unreliable' narrator trick Nisio Isin used, ever. He really likes to abuse this - usually it is fine and even brilliant. I love concept of Nadekho as a character, but I was never able to accept this kind of extremely forced and contrived way of explaining the twist. It's like "hey, everything snake said was actually me saying to myself!", I can sort of understand it, but my brain just rejects it.

Regardless that, Nadekho being final boss was indeed very amusing + scary at the same time. Problem is that next one is Onimonogatari - which goes back in time instead of telling conclusion of this lol.

WOWWWW...

JUST. WOW. Really clever use of Nadeko's narration and then the reveal that she was fooling herself with her own lies, which means the viewer was also fooled all along.

I was kinda "lol-ing" when Shinobu kept getting stabbed again and again. School Days was far more graphic and kinda sanitized me at that point. Of course if this was real life, I might puke... Also, that's some sick sense of imagination at the end. The donation box serving as Araragi's coffin, and the gate serving as the hanging pole...

Monogatari S2 is potentially 10/10 material in my list if they can keep up this level of storytelling.

This was definitely the best episode of the second season so far. Everything was good. Gotta give both, Nisio and Shaft, probs for this greatness.
The OST was great as always, especially that soundtrack during Nadeko's monologue and the phone call gave me mystic vibes. The visuals were beautiful and interesting (which is always the case in Monogatari). Did anyone else noticed how the weather changed during the phone call scene? It was basically like this:
Dark + rainy -> Senjougahara call -> suddenly weather clear and bright (mood totally changed) -> Gahara mentions the consequences of Nadeko's next moves -> rainy clouds incoming -> ''Nah Nadeko, we wouldn't be friends since I hate cute (!) brats like you" -> Dark + rainy again

Speaking of Senjougahara: Man, I really missed her, specially since she really lacks screentime this season. Gotta love how she ''manipulated'' Nadeko to postpone the battle (reminds me of how she manipulated Karen in Neko Shiro). Also, it's the second time that Gahara helped Araragi against a "kaii-infected" girl even though she's just a human . Nisio should really give her more screentime in the future novels.

Lastly, the fact that Shinobu called Ougi "that niece wannabe" is also noteworthy.
So was it thanks to Ougi that Araragi catched Nadeko in his room?

Nice episode i really liked this arc it was a major improvement after the last arc, still i wonder what the next arc will look like with the ending trailer and all.
Seems Snejougahara wasn't very impressed by Sengoku and her behaviour, she didn't even care about the death threat made by Sengoku.
Which suggests we have a vey interesting arc to look forward to the question is when will it air since i don't see it happen right after this arc.

I know that.
What I mean is if it was just coincidence that Araragi entered the room while Nadeko was busy with looking for the talisman OR if someone advised Araragi to check his room.
I'm asking myself that because Shinobu said things like "That doesn't explain why I, nocturnal as I am, was running around during day" and "Boy, did that niece wannabe ever pull a fast one on us''.
Not sure, but it sounds to me like Ougi wanted Araragi to confront Nadeko before she could eat the talisman.
