Wasn't really expecting brutal murder and assassination in a show labeled slice of life with ninjas, but here we are. First episode had just the right blend of silly without going totally over the top, looking forward to seeing if that remains true.

that oldschool intro was great and i did find it pretty funny as a gag anime then it suddenly was like no these characters are killing people like for real which was pretty morbid and unexpected i dunno about the tonal whiplash of moving on to CGDCT right after killing her friends dad

torn because it actually looks great and it's shaft but this split of CGDCT and dark undertone isn't for me

Okay it has a darker humor than expected, I'm liking it. Shaft is really back, the style seems fresh as I wanted.

So many people are saying this has Kobayashi vibes but to me it seems more like Kill Me Baby.

I think an assassin character naturally fits a straight woman role as both involve emotional distance. The assassin girl character is contradictory in a sense. Her reckless behavior undermines her credibility as an assassin, for example needing help disposing the bodies after her kills, which is inconsistent with being a "good" assassin. This incompetence also effectively undermines her comedic role as a straight woman, because straight men/women should be dependable and efficient to establish a clear contrast with their comedic counterpart, there's little room for ambiguity in their behavior.

I liked the visuals. The animation was good but nothing impressive. It's a deadpan type of humor, but the assassin girl's attempts at seriousness should have backfired comically on her more often to make it work for me imo.

So funny. The pair reminds me so much of I'm Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and Yor from Spy X Family.

To think they can make violence funny and cute is something else. Konoha and Satoko are so much cuter and made me laugh a lot in this episode.

Also, the ending song is catchy, and similar to that of the NEET. I'm digging it.

Really like this show here, and it feels just like Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid as Konoha definitely has Kobayashi's serious and work-oriented personality down pat, while Satoko is not exactly normal and is a girl who just stumbled upon meeting this assassin to become her housekeeper. And thus, here is Miss Koga's Ninja Maid, except that Satoko won't be wearing a maid outfit from the look of things. Shaft really turned up the quality with the animation there as their signature animation style is present once again, without going too overboard with it like they did with a show like Sayonara Zetsubo-sensei.

So being a top assassin means not only getting the kills, but doing so in the way the clients request the killings to be carried out, and having the body turn to leaves is quite convenient for that. And then there's Fumiko and Michiru and seeing that they made character pages for them (and not to mention they appear in the ending) that I get the sense that they are not really dead and what Konoha killed were just their shadow clones or something that don't work the same way they do in Naruto. Anyway, it's cute and the jokes really stand out. I'm curious to see what these two end up doing and what the other ninjas in town are up to as well.

Oh, I think it's encouraged to not have any attachments towards other characters other than Satoko and Konoha.

Also, I think SHAFT really gradually getting back on its feet regarding the animation quality ever since they made that Gotoubun OVA, on my mind we almost lost SHAFT because of Uchiage Hanabi and they're quite having the downhill after that. Too bad Luminous Witches didn't have this level of animation quality tho, that's one of my favorite SHAFT anime other than Monogatari series, Soremachi, Arakawa and Nisekoi.

So it's Lycoris Recoil, except instead of both of them being assassins, one’s a ninja… for one reason, and one reason only: to clean up the assassin’s dirty work. Great, lmao. Oh, and believe me, she is an assassin. A ruthless one. She just murdered a woman like it was nothing. Yeah lol. I REALLY wouldn’t have expected murders in a show that looks this cute… and is straight-up yuribait lol.

Speaking of the visuals, YO. It’s SHAFT, so I expected above-average animation, BUT THIS LOOKS FUCKING FANTASTIC. I was half-expecting someone like Nagata to show up, and yeah, that cut from him was really good. I actually didn’t even realize this was made by SHAFT at first, but now that I know, this is easily gonna be one of my favorites of the season.

Close enough, welcome back, Kobayashi and Lycoris Recoil.

Reminds me of Dragon Maid and Jashin-cham. Was expecting it to be meh but damn, I was shocked that it's so good. The animation is stellar. Only started episode one and I already want a season 2. No season 4. At least 3 seasons of this.

Ngl it's weird to see a Shaft anime that is not Monogatari or Madoka series lol. I mean they did adapt that Gotoubun OVA but yeah.

I didn't think they were going to put this much effort into a haphazardly drawn manga, but it's a welcome surprise.

The assassin is so mean to Satoko that I genuinely feel bad.

Definitely going to keep watching.

I didn't expect much, but it was actually really good!

It seems pretty original, and I like how aloof the characters are, it's quite intriguing and out of the ordinary.

The relationship between Konoha and Satoko reminds me of Kobayashi and Tohru so far.

I absolutely loved it 💕

The character design is super cute, and its also funny. The pacing feels just right, and the whole concept is fresh and fun. It might actually be the most creative new anime of the season so far!
