That Itano Circus hyped me.

I'm not sure it'll turn into a good anime (storywise), but those details and animation is being enough for me right now.

I don't mind the Magic Girl transformation being used again, it's great and stays in kine with other magic girl transformations hahaha

what I am really looking forward to is seeing what exactly MAPPA and its animators are trying to say, if anything, about anime, the business, etc or if this is solely like an enjoyment project. does anyone have any information released by MAPPA themselves on this matter?
@vanillasaruto I don't mind some stock footage... but they could have at least edited it a bit, it was completely unedited.

Though the climax is the summoning of objects drawn by the protagonist, the scene is intentionally drawn in "handwriting and low frame rate" taste. It's pointless.

Wait I don't understand something. I thought Natsuko changed the timeline by defeating the entire enemy raid in episode 1 and prevented Unio's death, Luke's emotional breakdown, and the town's destruction. In this episode, seems like the town is back to business as usual and the heroes are back in their daily lives, which supports the idea of a changed timeline. Yet apparently, Natsuko still knew what would happen next and correctly predicted the bug swarm, which contradicts the idea of a changed timeline. So what's going on here? Or am I missing something?

Also in this episode Natsuko changed the timeline yet again by defeating the bug swarm and preventing the crops failure, so will she still be able to correctly predict what will happen in the next episode yet again?
@Arcanine369 The change she made was saving Unio last episode. This mostly affected Luke, not the town. The entire enemy raid would have perished in Unio's suicide attack regardless. There would have been no point in the suicide attack otherwise, and Natsuke even said they would succeed at the cost of his death last episode (about midway through).
It also wouldn't be the first time one of the town's heroes died (and this time in a noble sacrifice). This is last line of defense. There used to be more towns, and a total of 9 heroes. What does that tell you? Because it told me the people of that world are experienced with loss and hardship. Therefore I concluded that they would try to carry on regardless (Unio even expected their would be a party given what he thought his last words were going to be).

I also considered the change in timelines affecting her ability to predict the future. It's a little early, but we shall see if that comes into play in future episodes. I would be shocked and disappointed if it didn't.

Hmm, I wonder how milk beer tastes like even if sounds weird.

With Natsuko correctly predicting the second invasion and saving the town again Luke definitely respects her now. Speaking of Luke, I like how he put her hair up so we can see her face.

@Arcanine369 - I don't think there is a direct cause-and-effect between the state of affairs in town and the different Void attacks, thus Natsuko can both change the turn of events happening while simultaneously being right about her "predictions" of further attacks.

but the transformation scene is literally stock footage

still i rarely watch isekai anime and this one is enjoyable so far

also its obvious luke and natsuko will have romance and natsuko will finally know how to direct and storyboard a romance anime show in the real world

@deg hahaha, yeah.

The show isn't great. It is a generic isekai with mostly badly written, one-note and uninteresting characters.
Good for you if your enjoyment bar is so low, that you consider this top tier anime, but its not the audiences fault, that they are tired of another mediocre isekai. Its animation alone will not save this unless writing and character building gets better.
@fenrirr2 Isn't the MC being transported into a generic isekai the entire point of the show? Lol. They're playing with both genre and animation tropes, and I'm here for it.

Nausicaa lasers, and now Gundam rockets. Might as well add a mecha battle next episode then.

This anime is so weird. It's an isekai but is somehow refreshing in its approach. They're just using the isekai premise to give tribute to the animators that came before them.

It's nothing serious, just a fun show with an odd twist.

Another nice episode! Nothing groundbreaking but it looks great and I'm enjoying it well enough so far.

A pair of assorted comments:

175cm and 62kg is pretty skinny for a warrior. For a normal city dude its fine (and is actually probably about what a guy that looks like Luke would weigh) but nobody with those dimensions is swinging a sword.

And at 13:09 there is the weirdest line reading. "Don't say scary things like that / kowai koto iu na yo" but its read like "kowai koto - iu - nai - o" like the actor choked on the final syllables. Not important but I haven't heard a take that bad in a proper anime in a long time. I genuinely wonder how that made the final cut of the episode.

I don't know if it is just me but if the animation for Natsuko drawing is going to be the same every time, don't you think it is going to get boring. It is like when Yugi turns into the pharaoh with his Millennium puzzle, it happens every time and take up unnecessary time. Don't get me wrong, the animation is beautiful, but it was EXACTLY the same as episode 1.

Do not know if they are talking about something like:
Kumis which is milk fermented by natural culture, mildly alcholic and fizzy;
Milk stout which is stout fortified with lactose, which is unfermentable by most yeast strain used in beer making it sweeter;
kefir, a slightly alcoholic thin yogurt
amasi, an African fermented milk drink
Kule Naoto, an African fermented milk and cow's blood drink
etc

I suspect most are acquired tastes.

I think that's fair, my point is in regard to people just giving it neg reviews because "they didn't think it was an isekai", like actual valid criticism is absolutely fair and something I agree with

ah, i get it now. she takes 3 day's work of key animation and shoves it into a few minutes of magical girl transformation, creation, and summoning... then ppffffff... she's burnt out and needs a 3-day coma. problem is, if she's dead to the world... what's going on while she's out? maybe she needs a backup plan... write or draw out the various main sequences the folks need to get through JIC she's potato director instead of all charged up.

Wow, I didn't realize how many milk based alcoholic drinks exist and I'm sure it would be an acquired taste. Honestly I never thought of mixing alcohol with milk as I recall one time years ago drinking at a party and then having carrot cake with milk and throwing up an hour later. I blamed on on mixing alcohol with milk (I think I had tequila for the alcohol).

Natsuko doing a op job for the nine soldiers team.

Luke is not as bad as she first thought, he is feeding her food, just like a hero.

So far so good!

I enjoyed this episode more than the first. I think I just needed to get used to the characters and setting change. I went into episode one thinking this was going to be something much different than it was. I still don't like the Cousin Itt design, but she showed her face a lot more this episode, so that was really nice. I'm guessing that will be a theme as she gets more and more comfortable with the people around her. Though I complain about her look I do like her character quite a bit. I also loved the battle sequence. I'm always excited for a beautiful transformation / repeat sequence. I'm a huge Ikuhara fan after all. This one is starting to move up my list in most anticipated next episode(s).

Second ep still not convincing.
A lot of "gags" but I didn't giggle once. I don't like the hair in the face of mc and the pony's voice is irritating. There's no scene with real emotional tension or stakes, but they throw in a lot of flat comedy to downplay even normally serious scenes, so there's no investment to be had on my part.
It was quite repetitive, so much it was ironic.
The pegboard says you can't reuse animations, yet the power activation sequence was literally copy pasted, and the plot was in a loop: she uses her power, faints, dude picks her up and blushes at her unconscious face, she sleeps for three days and eats like a carthorse when she wakes up, while dude serves the food in a wifey apron.
The only thing I like is the Italian village aesthetic of the fortress city.
If I manage, I will watch next ep too for the 3 ep rule, but I don't expect much.
Also the she/he? dragon with long lashes in the OP is supposed to be the final boss? I doubt the story is ever gonna turn serious or dark for real.

I opine that they mostly exist for the same reason as ripened cheeses, yogurts, fermented buttermilks, etc. Using cultures that can eat and metabolize the lactose make the milk and its calories and nutrients usable for the large majority of adults who are lactose intolerant, and this reason dominates over getting a bit more alcoholic beverages.

Natsuko has a special ability: She can draw anything (only once) in her new world in order to change the course of happenings.

Luke Braveheart and Natsuko finally won the battle and she joined the Nine Heroes. That’s amazing!

2nd episode is done and yeah it looks like things are getting quite interesting...

Following the last episode climax, Natsuko is asleep after that dream sequence she's having she awakes to be.. hungry, like a lot. Luke certainly is a good cooker heh.

This episode is partly Natsuko betting if she's wanna go back home or stay where she is. If I were her, I would be pretty conflicted as well.

Lastly, Natsuko can only use her animator power if the situation is very dire. She summoned a heck ton of missiles looking like art to destroy those pests.

Enjoyed this one as well. Ima give this episode another 8/10. Hope next episode gets slightly better!

While the pegbar said "No stock footage, only new things", the animators didn't hesitate a secont using the same animation when summoning the magic desk. Also the summoning gives me mawaru penguindrum vibes. Aniway it dosn't bother me much, I just find it a bit funny.

@M-T_S sorry that is not what i meant. i meant... while she is in a coma for three days... the movie's timeline may still progress. events may outpace her while she is potato director. so she needs to write down 'the future of the movie' or draw the main sequences of events in the movie... to make sure her 'future knowledge of the movie' is available to the mayor etc. while she is imitating a bedbug.

still pretty alright, if I had to guess this is some result of a hallucination and the reason she can only draw at certain times is because of a deadline (she mentions it takes 3 days for her to draw as much as she does). Potential to be pretty decent I think
