I am not a fan of the fast pacing, but it seems to be slowing down now. Another decent episode. This test looks like it will be a blast.

I like it, but there's something odd with it. I don't know if it's the pacing or something else. But it just doesn't feels right.
I like the first test, because you would probably just try a door without being sure when your time would be running out, but that clock's time is wrong, so you lose if you guide yourself based on that clock.
And, luckily for Baam's team, Baam doesn't do shit, so it doesn't matter if he freaks out because of Rachel.
But damn, se seemed so innocent on the flashbacks, and we have that scene of her full of blood, being a 3 out of 200. But I would guess Rachel's team will pass so Baam won't encounter her this early in the tower.
But I think I understood something wrong. I thought Rachel had already climbed the whole tower.

Rachel has barely appeared till now, but I already hate her for some reason. I hope I like her later since the anime says she's one of the main characters, and it's difficult to watch a show when I hate one of the main characters.

Khun and Rak are my favourite characters so far. It's fun to watch them both work toward the same goal, while not giving a damn about what the other is doing.

LOL this comment section is a mess as always.

Now the real deal has started after our favourite instant coffee freak's door dest. From now on the story only gets better and better. If the anime does it justice, it will be a joy to watch.

Looking forward to the best girl's entrance next episode

hmm I was the one who suggested putting Rachel as MC. It was not a decision based entirely on screen time, so even if you do end up hating her, it probably won't be that unbearable.

I'm surprised to see many take the MC category so seriously, a lot of stories have characters that can really go either way.

Did they just literally blow through 2-3 episodes worth of source material content?

3.5 tests through 3 episodes. Geezus. The door test didn't feel as intense or nervewracking as it could've been.

Something about Khun's backstory (too early for that, maybe?) did not feel right...obviously it has to be cutting the important stuff or showing it differently.

Why am I not surprised by Rachel about to reunite with Bam this early in the game? Was it really the right call in terms of the script, and how it'll affect Bam's development in the long run?

Crunchyroll obviously isn't letting the story "breathe" enough. Damn you, CR.

It was a pretty good epsiode. Especially Khun's brackground which is way way far away in the WebToon. I liked that they put it in here for contrast between Khun and Baam and context in terms of the exam.

Also, the crown test is amazing.
I would say the fight was good because it was meant to imply that this is a bland fight. Actually it adds to the fact that she is so powerful that nothing eye-popping happens. It is just like killing a mosquito vs killing a chicken. There is a difference.

Many people are comparing the episodes to the manhwa which is ok but truly speaking, since they are moving a lot of events here and there even some material from 300+ chapters, i believe we should judge it as its own entity free of creative decisions as long as the main flow of the anime remains the same.

Ouch, a tough world. It looks like Bam remembered some important words from her mother, to trust in himself. I guess Bam still believes in Rachel. Rak still brings in the turtle jokes in his dialogues.

Looks like the next test they got has a time limit. The objective to open the door sounds simple on paper but yeah, they definitely made this more intimidating than it appears to be. Got to see a bit more of Anak but I hope they give the character more screen time in upcoming episodes.

The entire test was to open a door. Any door. That really is gruelling and hard and only the fittest can surviove such an endeavour.

test was to open any door within 5 minutes, and it was to see if people like kuhm would survive. nothing is certain in the tower, and the test was trying to prove that

i mean they cant have every little detail of the webtoon since they are trying to fit 78 chapters in 13 episodes, but i honestly like the pacing. its ok tho theres more than 100 floors so its just the beginning

The struggle to climb the tower continues and each test pushes the characters to their limits. The characters learn harsh but valid lessons in each test, but the biggest lesson to be learned here is that hesitation must be left behind. In the end, the characters can only trust each other and the path they have chosen to tread on. We also get some insight into the backstory and motivations of Aguero and as well as the fighting skills of Anak. This show is filled to the brim with interesting characters and I just hope they can have their fair share of screen-time and development. Tower of God is shaping up to be one of the finest shows of the season and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Ep 3 is still okay. They still climbing tower and taking tests like previous eps. Yoru keep repeating Rachel, you could literally make a video compilation about it.
I was kinda hoping the tests would be a bit more challenging and intense like other series from the start. (e.g. HxH, Alice in the Borderland, Kakegurui, etcs).
Let see how future eps go...

Khun hesitates during the test due to lack of trust from past traumatic experiences,
during the test, they literally gave a huge deductive spoiler by switching the frames from khun's vision to Bam's vision.

The fight scenes aren't overdramatic, and I believe that they are fair and smooth enough, atleast we don't have a slideshow battle. Also the chibi characters are so cute.

Good episode

It doesn't make it clear if the teams need to go in a set order as such, there are design flaws of the test still unaddressed. Intelligence wouldn't matter if you have to be the first one to take the test, even the clock is too open to interpretation to narrow down to anything logical. The only correct answer then is recklessness which this series doesn't seem to acknowledge as a flaw.
there were 2 clues about this test, the screams after 5 minutes and the clock, plus yu hansung said there wasn't anymore clues,so this 2 clues are enough to find the solution, opening any door in 5 minutes, shibisu found the solution alone, you know about the screams you just have to try to open any door,if you hesitate or you think too much you die,the first team is a made up team, they're not regulars.

When was the last time an anime has had such split comment sections like this show? Everytime I look at the forums here, it's like I'm witnessing a war (and I'm already seeing plenty by watching and rereading Kingdom lol).

I can understand why people wouldn't enjoy it so far, but personally, I'm still loving this far more than nearly all anime that aired last year except like 2 or 3 shows, as well as the anime this year (except Kingdom S3 and Major 2nd S2).

We get a glimpse of Kuhn's backstory of being betrayed and having his family exiled. His previous experiences prevent him from trusting others during the test, but thankfully Rak helped them advance to the next test by kicking down a random door.

The Crown Game is going to be interesting in the next episode because the lizard girl has the crown. She not only strong, but has a very powerful weapon.

Another week another weak episode of ToG. What the hell was that 3rd test? Open any door and you win? Really? What a challenge it is to climb this thing. Also, the animation still feels choppy and the comedy is still bad. I wanted to give this time to evolve, but 3 episodes in and I still have no idea what's going on and why certain things are happenning. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt to see if it got better this week, but it didn't. I usually abide by the 3 episode rule, and I now know for sure that I won't be continuing this series. Also, the whole "I opened this one random door on instinct and it's the right one" thing made me want to just close my tab and end it there, even if it got cleared up later as "open any door to win" (which, tbh makes even less sense), on the moment it actually felt as if this series was trolling.
Overall this 4th test looks to be the first actual "test" that will actually test people for their worth, but the outcome is obvious, Bam and his crew fluke it and win. So far all these tests have felt completely pointless and based on luck, this one seems to be based on actual skill but hey Bam's the hero he won't lose!

I mean, if you don't enjoy it, nobody here is forcing you to watch. At the end of the day it's entertainment and not for everyone.
Im assuming you dont care about spoilers at this point since you've dropped it (though i thought you said you dropped it last episode) so

From my basic calculation, if each anime episode takes around 4,6 episodes from the manhwa, 13 episodes of anime will take 60,6 episodes from manhwa, but this is too basic to use since the season 1 in the manhwa is 78 episodes total and not every anime episode takes exactly 4,6 episodes of manhwa, so we can safely assume that they will skip or compress more manhwa episodes and actually use all 13 episodes to do the entire season 1 of the manhwa. While I understand they want to make season 2 ASAP and have the normal flow of events and episodes, speeding up season 1 will have consequences, since entire season 1 was made slow to build characters and the world of the Tower of God. This will make anime-only fans either confused or force them to read manhwa, which actually might be the reason why they did the anime in the first place; to promote Korean manhwa. This might be the gateway for many original Korean manwha to find their producers and have Japanese anime, instead of using the domestic ones, which might be "underdeveloped". Plus, Japanese producers must be desperate for new ideas for the anime since we have so many isekais right now, amirite?

I was a bit bored by this episode. I cannot put my quite on why though. I would have preferred Bam to just stay with Khun and develop those 2 more, before the rest of the shounen squad arrived.

Very mediocre battle shounen. You can tell it's senseless and doesn't want to be more than ''just another'' action series. It keeps itself apart by adhering to generic tropes and doesn't even try to innovate or challenge the viewer. I'm disgusted and can't believe fans tried comparing it to HxH and OP. The disappointment is unreal.

The story, characters and setting so far pretty much are all basic as fuck. The 'great' worldbuilding promised isn't interesting in any way. Only thing it has going for it is that there are battles and that the production is decent. SO to Kevin Penkin.

the world building doesn't come until season 2 when it goes full out on that. thanks for judging a series after it adapted 15 out of 474 published chapters (basically 3% of the story), as if all the fans are hyping it because of the first 15 chapters.

yea it's a slow burn type of series. people don't suddenly hype it to the moon after reading only 15 chapters lol. it's ok if it's not for you, but it's premature to dismiss and assume the entire plot after seeing 3% of the story, that's just what I'm saying. Hmm Khun sure had quite the rough past being betrayed and exiled . Bam's reaction to seeing the sky for the first time as well as Gater's reaction was just hillarious. So Khun's sister was a candidate considered for the role of princess huh. Looks the wounds from the betrayal were pretty deep. The trial of capturing the crown though sure looks to be quite the interesting one though. Anaak's solo win over the opposing team was pretty impressive. Looks like Bam will be seeing Rachel sooner rather than later it seems. Overall a decent ep that did well to expand upon Khun's character via the insight into his past that showed how that painful betrayal changed his life and remade him into how he is now. While the trials have been rather standard affairs it feels like they're starting to get serious which combines well with the expansion of the other teams fighting strength.

I just feel like the way this story is structered doesn't appeal to me that much, it's already doing what OP did after 600 chapters, just adding more and more stuff. But unlike OP this one didn't already have a lot of complex worldbuilding.

Eva and Steins Gate do a lot more in 3 episodes. And this isn't really a slow burn, maybe it seems that way to you because you've read all of it already. We're going through tests fast as hell and will soon start climbing the Tower. It's pretty fast so far imo. Then again I don't know what's to come.
