So.... 4 years since the war ended....Good to see happy Luculia's face, and she even has a fiance! But it's a shame they didn't hint anything with Catteleya and Claudio or Bennedict :( Good movie, we have to prepare for the ending next month c: |

Damn, haven't seen this amount of yuri-bait from KyoAni since Hibike! Euphonium. I mean, the whole ballroom sequence was basically seeing Violet in a suit and Isabella with a bouquet dancing as if they were newlyweds. Come on. Overall, I have the same feeling I had while watching the TV-series. Production values were spectacular as expected but the story left a lot to be desired. First of all and this is mostly a technical aspect but the transition from Isabella's plot-line to Taylor's was so notorious it felt like having two episodes tied together. Leaving the duration aside, this didn't really feel like a movie experience if you ask me. Secondly, the characters didn't fully convince me either. Isabella's decision of "adopting" Taylor felt sudden and her reasons were kinda forced. Nearly as forced as the idea of having a noble knocking at her door and suddenly saying she has royal blood but well. And not to mention that for someone who acts so melancholic about not being able to see her little sister, she sure did nothing to change that situation and search for her in those following 3 years. As for Violet, I don't have much to say. Despite having a 3 years time skip in between, she still was as plain as in the TV-series and that particular moment with her considering Isabella as her "first ever friend" was indeed weird since I thought that would be Luculia. I mean, they spent 3 months together and all but the studio could have used some more consistent scenes to portray that closeness instead of having Isabella wanting Violet to bath, sleep and snuggle with her just for the sake of yuri-bait. And finally, as for Taylor... she was fine, I guess. Half annoying/Half charming attitude and her childish determination was indeed kinda adorable to see. She deciding not to meet Isabella at the end was quite the disappointment tho. 6/10 - By the way, massive respects to Benedict and the way how he rocked those heels despite being a postman. Gotta stay fabulous at any moment! |

A movie? more like a normal arc that would fit in the first season (2 episodes long one).... but that is a nice arc one without doubt, enjoyable as the first season. |

It was a great movie, and i’m so happy for KyoAni’s return. To see KyotoAnimation at the start of the movie literally gave me goosebumps. I lowkey was so pissed that Taylor didn’t jump out and hug Amy herself, i honestly had to pause the movie and think to myself why the hell she didn’t go hug her, the perfect opportunity dude. Other than that rant, beautiful movie and im so happy to see Violet back in action along with the other characters. it’s a strong 8/10 if the hug happened between Amy and Taylor it woulda been a 9, still a great film though. Edit - Benedict got a lot of screen time in this movie which was sick |

Really surprised that movie was much better than i expected. The main season was very inconsistent. Really liked the story of Nene and Taylor, so sweet. A bit strange time skip. but glad that they were able to be reunited. Beatiful animation as expected. Really hope to see KyoAni back. Overall 8/10 So there will be another movie?! I'm a little confused, this was just a side story and other one will be continuation? |

The visuals in the Violet Evergarden franchise never fail to impress me. The story in this movie was quite interesting. There was nothing stopping Taylor from meeting Amy, but she chose not to until she gets older, which is something that most children her age wouldn't have the willpower to do. Am I the only guy here who wants to wear high heels after watching this? :P |

It has been years since I last watched Violet Evergarden. I almost forgot all the names of the characters but the feels this show brought me comes back, damn it. Taylor is really cute, she blends with Benedict so much and I would love to see them together more in the next movie. Benedict and his job being appreciated by Taylor almost brought me to tears, I can see Benedict being fond of her. That part where Taylor and Amy almost met each other though. The letter is simple, yet so beautiful. Brought such great meaning. Also, I appreciate a small part where they show two birds flying. It was like showing us that these two birds (or Amy and Taylor in particular) would be always together even when living different lives. Such beautiful movie really. 9/10. P.S Benedict wears heels like it is just nothing, what a gorgeous man!!! |

What a beautiful movie! Of course, that’s expected of KyoAni - the masters of gorgeous animated visuals. Wish they’d shown the studio tribute at the end. The story was sweet - I enjoyed it. Not really sure I understand why Taylor chose not to see her sister, though. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought it odd that Benedict wears high heels to deliver mail, LOL! He rocks it, though! |

No sad scenes besides a tiny bit when she opened the letter at the end. WOW, honestly mind boggling. My thoughts exactly. I'm beginning to think daniel_naumov was right and I was brain washed by kyoani with their color codes and all that shit. The movie was bad. |

Wow, what bad writting. I mean, when you don't even ask where your "beloved" sister went for like 5 years, after a promise that she would have a better future! All those tears were fake as fuck. She didn't care shit about her sister. The whole story was a mess with no bases for any of feelings or character's actions. This is the best looking worse written movie I've ever seen. |

sound and animation are as beautiful as always.... buuuut really boring if im being honest. it felt way too overly drawn out for a movie, could've been covered in two or three episodes. plus i don't see the point of the yuri baiting, and dammit the little girl's voice was so annoying to me! also why in the world did they decide to draw INDIVIDUAL teeth on her?? i kept staring at that the whole second half of the film it looks so unnatural lmao but yea minor complaints, long drama are not my cup of tea so this is to be expected with this genre. 7/10 for me |

This movie was incredibly disappointing. I probably cried in every single episode of Violet Evergarden, but this was so damn boring, it didn't make me feel anything. The first half was pretty acceptable, even though they definitely messed up the pacing. When was it that Violet was able to change Isabella's whole demeanor like that? I think we might have missed something important in that bath scene. Am I the only one who kept waiting for the blondie at the school to show what a bitch she is? If she's gonna be a sweetheart all the time why did they make her eyes look so evil? |

this was fine i was enjoying the first 30mins or so up till the unexpected timeskip i honestly can't remember anything from the main show but i think some stories had a timeskip at the end as well?anyways felt really drawn out and easily could've been a arc of the show didn't feel like a movie besides the length shame because KyoAni normally ends up making even their most average shows way better outside of animation in movies ,this not so much. my hot take violet fans still on crack with their rose tinted glasses regarding this series ironically i still remembered Benedict wearing heels in the main show |

Too fucking close yet too fucking far is what I'm gonna say. That scene made me almost cry damn. They were so close but they couldn't meet. What a beautiful movie, this series never ceases to amaze me. The first half was so touching. Violet helped Amy becoming into a proper lady and Amy sacrificed everything so that Taylor can live a happy life. That was so touching. Timeskip part was fun at first look but the feels were still great and then that last part was totally out of the park. Hope they meet someday. Great movie overall, totally loved it. |

I really love this movie! First of all, It's nice to see Violet in ponytails lol. And Amy may be a bit too rough at fortst but I like how she warmed up with Violet. They became good friends. Taylor is such a cutie too and I though she and Amy will finally meet. I hope so, someday! Lastly, I had seen the series a quite long ago so I forgot how Benedict's heels! I like how Sassy he is (〃゚3゚〃) And I'm hlad he got a lot of screen time in this movie. |

In the end this sidestory alone was better than whole previous series which needlessly delved into Violet past. Here we got pure essence of slice-of-life at its higest without any convoluted backstory. It was poetic, emotional, with attention to detail and it captured the nostalgy and life of the post-war era perfectly. Visual masterpiece. Telling such stories is main strength of this series. When Violet said she didn't recieved a letter from Amy for a long time I was expecting bittersweet, sad end but the one we got was also pretty powerful and I actually liked how it ended on hopeful side. 9/10 |

Ugh, this is the kind of problem that I have with VE: on one hand, it bores me but on the other one, it delivers a climax that I a absolutely fall for. During both letters, my throat hurt for a few moments and I even cried; the second one was a bit more heartwrenching imo. Well, now to the movie: so I wasn't really a fan of this format since it seemed like two TV eps one after the other, though they were connected so I guess it makes sense. Been a while since I've seen an anime THIS pretty. 7/10 |

It was a good story about two foster sisters finding a way to stay connected, but aside from those "feels" it was boring. I just wish there was a side-story or two going on. Because the plot was so simple, I felt this would have made a greater episode, even a two or three part episode, and not a full-length movie. It's great, but it could have been better. |

Gotta stay fabulous at any moment! Basically this I also feels weird when Violet called Isabella her "first friend", what about her co-worker? she did'nt think them as friend ? Benedict , Cattleya,Luculia, Iris and Erica ? i understand her meaning of first friend actually, it means she is the one who spend time with her chatting about their life and such, sleeping together, taking bath together, and such like what best friends and the girl at her age do(don't ask me this logic about how female bonding by sleeping and taking bath together it sounds weird to be honest), but the first friend phrase seems wrong. Violet treat her co-worker as dear friend but in professional way, maybe because Isabella treat her like the girl around her age, that Violet think her as "first" friend who treat her that way. She did'nt try to find her sister, i think it is because she is from royalty, and her father forbid her to find her because she need to hide her identity as royalty and she can't go anywhere and locked like a bird, but i don't understand the reason why she can't beg her husband or father to bring her back, maybe as maid or servant. I think the father don't want her to get attached or hate commoner , but the big sister seems don't put effort to find her even though she was really missing her, she even did'nt know if her little sister having good life or not, if her father really evil, he can just throw the little sister to poor orphanage or even throw her to the street. Luculia just greet Violet and did'nt bother to ask her is she got demoted to become delivery man and asked what about her doll job, maybe she know Violet is helping the company by doing multi job, but she also did'nt ask about Taylor like why a child working as delivery man , she just ask her name and go date with her fiancee, i don't know why but her apperance seems not important to the plot at all. But overall the movie is great, the art also amazing, i rate it 8/10 despite knowing what is is lacking. |

It seems there wasn't much communication between them in those following three years, which is a shame. I can understand Violet and Isabella becoming closer since they "lived" together for three months but I needed something more meaningful than just seeing them... bathing together. In that regard, I think her relationship with Luculia is stronger since Violet helped a lot in the issue regarding Luculia's broken brother but well. |

Would've really liked for them to meet but i understand the reasoning behind it. Overall the story just didn't do it for me, a bit too far removed from the story of the actual show, trying to force a school setting, it had its moments and the art direction was amazing as usual but didn't do enough for me. |

The inherent problem of an episodic series is that sooner or later you're going to run into a setup that the viewer doesn't like or can't connect with. The first half of this movie hits that note for me, as I'm not a fan of the entire 'proper lady' concept. Visually there's nothing to complain about though and the character behavior doesn't have any particular issues (it's pretty much identical to the parent series in those respects). Also, as others have said... it is pretty heavy on the yuri-bait. The second half is significantly different from the first, going back as it does to the delivery service, but since it's focused on a child character I ended up not liking it all that much either. |

I couldnt stop imagining how the very end would be awesome if, at the time Amy was wearing that white one piece dress holding that letter, Taylor voice appeared saying "may I delivery your letter, nee-nee" That would kill me in joy and emotion. Anyway, nice emotional movie. Simple yet emotional. Thank goodness nobody died. 8/10 |

Having watched this movie as my first KyAni product in a long year or a year and a half, I can say that it was quite impressive. Yes, as many could already say, the whole film seemed to be an attempt to use the full yuri potential of one of the stories as a full-length yuri bait, but it was done well enough to really attract, not annoy. Ultimately, I watched it as a cross between the original VE and MariMitte. The second half was noticeably weaker, but the ending bought it enough for me. 8 from 10. Maybe it was because of the rather fairly solid straight canon in the series, which made it pretty “safe” yuri, but the pseudo-heterosexual yuri was always my weakness. The only problem is that KyoAni originally wanted to buy us with this and we understand that very well, yes. |

Great movie. Animation and OST impeccable as always. Didn't touch me like the series, but still nice to watch. Maybe if Taylor jumped out from that bush or even Violet had gone to meet Amy would give a higher climax to the moment. An eye drop for our eyes. 8/10 |
